The fried biscuits at Stringers are addictive! The ribs are mine & my husband's favorite. Haven't been to Ray's in years, maybe it's time to get a burger & onion rings 😄
My aunt worked at Atkinson and lost the end of her finger tips in one of the machines. My cousin worked there when I was young and she would bring us bags of candy all the time ❤❤ Thank you for sharing this..
I used to climb a fire tower in Yellowpine. I always wanted to buy it but it looks like it's been gone a few years. And just like the tower at the museum, it was full of bullet holes.
I think they're the only place that does this. I've NEVER seen it at another bbq joint before. They're so dang good too. Dip them in the potatoe salad, just a tip!
Grew up in Lufkin. Went to Junior and High School there way back in the seventies. Guy did a pretty well-rounded vid. Familiar with all the places shown. If you are ever there and have the time, you should try Ray's.
Thanks for this one as well!. I love candy and I love the Willy Wonka reference. My girl's fam lives in Willis and it's beautiful but I need to explore east texas more :)
Great video! Wasn't Lufkin Industries founded out there? I might have mentioned them and their oil field pumping units; the nodding donkey's they were famous for. But otherwise great!
Nice video, makes me miss home lol. Especially loved seeing Lufkin BBQ and Ray's, grew up eating both, my dad was actually a fairly well known guy for Lufkin before he passed away in 2009, he was known as the Kirby man, he and my granpa owned/ran the local Kirby Co. vacuum cleaner shop downtown near the fire station, so anyone local thats been there for year will maybe remember that place. It closed awhile ago after he passed because he held it together, and the main reason I left Lufkin, though I love to visit for some of the restaurants I grew up eating with him, especially Ray's. I also ate a lot of Lufkin BBQ with him, not sure if its still there or good, but Chen's was a favorite of ours, he always got General George's chicken. Also, I think you should try and feature La Unica's, either the sit down restaurant or the Express, because they have some of the best al pastor and other Mexican food in Texas, and I used to live in San Antonio, so I've had some amazing Mexican food there. Thanks for a nostalgic time.
I moved to lufkin in 2022 and ive been here for a while and the only place ive been to in the vidoe is Ray's. I will say they are probably the best burgers in the world.
Blessings in an abundance of the faith. I salute you. 😘🙏Grace and peace be unto you and to this place. God bless you. 🤍🤍🤍Thank you. Will you believe and receive Jesus Christ as your LORD and personal saviour??? I do. 🤍🤍🤍
Born and raised here in Lufkin. Can't believe you didn't go to the zoo! Not many towns our size have one.
It is a great zoo. But we can't include everything
@@TheDaytripper I believe its the largest zoo per capita in Texas and maybe the US
Same here. The zoo was a great place to visit. The city itself ain't much to look at though.
I'm the one working in a purple shirt during the Lufkin BBQ segment.. crazy its been 10 years. Lufkin hasn't changed much

@@charitableheart23 At least he didn't get lost down Rivercrest Road?
Or Cedar Grove...at " Elaine's"!😂
You know your from Lufkin when you get this comment....😂😂
Lufkin looks like a culinary paradise! Even Gordon Ramsay would be impressed by Lin BBQ. Those fried rolls look like donuts though.
No he wouldn't.

I can't disagree.
Only showed mostly places to eat. Yeah that's about par for the course for this town.
Lufkin has a stench about it
That's the chicken plant

The candy store took me back to my childhood. Why does the BBQ sauce taste like celery?!
How about a new visit to lufkin?
What to do?
@@TheDaytrippernext time your planning to come to Lufkin, let me know, I can give you some more places and historic sites. Lufkin has a lot to offer
You missed the great diversity of the city the music and the art! And Angelina College should have made the video!
