After watching the Stax "Respect" documentary on PBS, I had the urge to get some funk out... a little GarageBand drum loop along with my Fender Rhodes Mark I at home
@rud lol this comment made me feel old af. 2006 I was a junior in high school and I think was either first or second year of TH-cam, seems like also around the same time when we all made the MySpace to Facebook transition... At the time Facebook was only young people and our parents still had the “I’ll never text/use Facebook/put photos online” attitude. It was an awesome time for the internet and sharing media.
Also this was before Spotify/Pandora and stuff so if you wanted to listed to a song without Downloading or buying the physical album from a store, it was free and easy way to access.
This is incredible. Every time that I show a friend the amazing tone that is a Fender Rhodes, I show them this video. Great playing man, I hear a lot of Herbie in there.
I'm a guitarist as well. and I love the sound of the rhodes, especially the notes in the lower register. My favorite rhodes riff by far is the beginning of bitches brew.
Never seen a keyboardist with so much groove before. And believe me, man, I'm from Brazil, latin music is grooved all the way!! Congrats, really impressive job!!
Excellent left hand work and hand independence. Man I stared taking classical at age five....and still am a musican, and I don't have that level of hand independence....you got the gift!! Excellent. I wish I had a chart of this piece of music. Simple structure played in new ways. Great.
@RockVoltz The piece is in g-minor and circles around the respective tonic. Try switching between g- and C7 for a start... Then, you could use the progression: g- a- Bb, all in one measure, like he does. Another interesting base progression he uses is: g b / a d (and back to g again). over the first two chords keep on playing g-, but spice it up with C and d- (this derived from the Blues tradition). For scales, start with the g-minor pentatonic and blues scale...
Damn! It's a shame you don't live a mile down the road from my house. I'm afraid we'd have to make a joyful noise whether anybody liked it or not! Keep up the good work.

yeah, you're right when you say funky. That was like hot damn! and by the way you look while you play, you probably didn't mean to do any of that so beautifully; you were just jammin'. Believe me, I'm the same way. don't sweat it, just keep on playin! good job man
