- Antwuan Dixon was one of the biggest skateboarders of the early/mid-2000s. He launched into the spotlight with his part in the iconic Baker 3 video, before eventually fading out of the scene just a few years later.

Antwuan is a bright side off skateboarding ! He went trough lots off personal issues but today he's sober and back on his board ! And thank god he's healthy today.
I am glad to read that
Him and TK ended up in the places we thought the other would, complete 180 for these dudes
@@bignose4703 I would never think TK or Twuan would end up killing a person
@@full6330name jail was in the cards for antwuan
and hes still got it too
Skate lab in Simi valley at the baker demo I seen antwuan after the demo and asked him how to tre flip I was trying it hard for about a month couldn’t ever land one. He took the time and didn’t hesitate to show a skinny white kid with long hair how to land his first 360 flip. Forever respect to you my man I seen your heart that day.
Super dope
Sick story true skaters love to share n spread positive vibes
dudes a real og
beautiful comment, plus I love Simi, my friend Morgan lives there.
No cap, he has one of the cleanest tre flips I've ever seen. I remember seeing Baker 3 in high school and he made that shit look easy.
Absolute legend
Recently took a trip to California and ran into Antwuan at North Hollywood Plaza, dude was absolutely shredding but still took the time to talk to me and take a photo, was nothing but kind and respectful, am so happy to know he’s back doing his thing and looking as good as ever with his effortless style 🤝
No you didn't 😂😂😂
I see him at the gym all the time bro lol
Ayyyyeeee, the photo I took of Twuan was in this. Loved the video. Grew up looking up to him and his skating style especially since I come from similar situations. Happy to know he’s in a better place
Which part of the video? ❤
Seeing Antwuan come back has been so incredible. The love he gets from the scene, to this day, is wonderful. I hope he knows how much everyone loves him.
Was in rehab with him. Didn't know his story. Insightful. Hope he's good.
and you as well
That's dope that he didn't even boast about being an expro skater. Although perhaps he would've not wanted to share that seeing as he was in a rehab center
From what I hear about him he's doing great
How could he ever think busting the guys windows with kids in the car is a good idea
@@nicolethain5405 You've never lost your temper and let your emotions get the best of you? I doubt it and I really doubt he saw those children in the back seat. Anyways, who starts fights and then waits for them when they get out of the store afterwards to continue said fight with their kids in the back seat? He might be a drunk skate punk but the other guy was not being a good parent.
I grew up skateboarding with Antwan. He was always so cool, kind and fun to be around. A very loving person. I never knew the story about the jail stuff until now.
Myself as well
That’s wild cuz he openly talks about running fades in jail and all the bs he’s been through and his ties to the Carson city crips etc. I think he even has a Vice interview that they made into an animated video talking about when he got to LA County jail.
Only four years of skating and he put out one of my all time favorite video parts. That first tre flip really set the tone for his whole part.
Also didn't realize he was only 16 back then.
Antwuan is one of the greatest street skaters of all-time, no question. Im so stoked seeing his newer clips he's been posting and im rooting for him big time. Really would love to see him drop another video part or get back in Baker but with a new outlook and fresh perspective. Everyone in skateboarding loves his style, and I hope he can stay in a good place and be happy. We love you Twaun, your skating has always been incredible
You did great man I thank you for this piece of history that won't be soon forgotten
The most interesting narrative on skateboarding I have ever seen. I wish it had come out earlier. I have his first pro model deck still sealed up (cuffed hands). Thank you for this video. Wonderful job! Thhis guy has an amazing personality. One of a kind.
U must have a good life to have a board n not need it to skate just keep it in plastic, all the ups to u hope u keep doing well
Antwuan has the kind of style looks like he just jumps and the board obeys. So sick to watch. Glad he's doing well these days definitely a legend in the sport
The board obeys HIM!
@@kristopherkrueger4617that’s what he said
Antwuan Dixon is a legend. His baker 3 part is one of my favorites. It's absurd how he can fly down huge gaps and barely move his arms.
Exactly bro he definitely has the best style in my opinion. If not the best, still for sure in the top 3.
so effortless, it's insane
His baker 3 part is iconic. One of the smoothest styles to this day.
Hands down
that Baker 3 part is extra insane when you realize dude had been skating for a lot less time than most of the pros of the era and doing stuff just as good if not better than people that had double the experience/ time skating
This was a very nuanced and thoughtful doc about his life. Very entertaining and high value, salute!
This comment section tho😂😂😂 "Once in Santa Cruz I was partying with Antwan! He banged a Chinese midget that was at the local strip club on the boardwalk at like 4am😂 He was wild he came back to the bar and down 3 shots of hennessy immediately!! I was like damn I'm so fucking cool to witness this. I will rule you tube in 20 years 🎉🎉🎉
Yep there was definitely a lot of bad influence. Basically all of the dudes on Baker were alcoholics back then.
I mean come on… Dollin, Szafranski, Ellington, Greco… lol. TK?
Just imagine yourself in Antwuan’s shoes. Being 16-19 hanging around those guys with unlimited money and fame???
Fuck..
nice video! It made me realize a lot of things about Antwuan’s life. I am glad he is clean now and is still skating!
Greco and Ellington were actually sober by the time Twaun joined the team. Greco was sober before Reynolds.
@@tvsavery666thers clips of Both of them partying in baker 3

@@heiz3n369 yeah Baker 3 had clips that were up to like 5 or 6 years old. By the time Baker 3 actually premiered, Greco was clean, and I'm sure Ellington was too. Also Boss, he cleaned up shortly after Greco.

As a guy who spent time on the wrong side of the law and plenty of it doing things I shouldn't have. I can tell you one of the things I wish I had done was not spend time with some of the people doing some of the things I did. But here I am 35 and started skating again this year after 15 years and I'm better now in 3 months than I was n in 2 years as a kid. The path to happiness isn't the same for everyone and some never get there. Mad love Dawson.
In hindsight, is there anything that could have steered you onto a different path, or do you feel that it was something you had to go through?
@@russellpengilley5924i cant speak for him but i know my own story and nothing would have steered me away from my path besides maybe a near death expierence. Someone can tell you what a book is about but u will never fully understand the book until u read it. Thats life, anyone can tell u what to do and not to do but u sont understand until u live it!
Second to last sentence is some real shit
Thanks a lot for making those videos cause it really helps understanding histocal events/characters of the skate industry. Especially for foreigners like me (French) cause the mix of the geographical barrier and at the same time not growing up during the baker 2/3 era (I’m 18) creates a lot of gaps in the history of skateboarding in the USA aka were it came from as the scene is different in each country. So yeah keep cooking that shit
Yo.. as a 28 year old American… you had to be there 🤌🏾🤌🏾.. man the grittie days of skateboarding when I was like 8/9… was crazy.. your era is crazy too I must say tho..
Antoine is doing very well one of my closest friends (deathwish rider) lives with him and said he’s doing phenomenal and super healthy and skating and filming ALOT now…he’s rly a super genuine and nice dude
I grew up skateboarding at the Hawthorne skatepark the dirty. I would always see Antwuan get into some shenanigans but he is really chill, letting me get in the blunt rotation. He would always hype me up to skate.
Amazingly well-researched and well presented. It's so nice to get all this info in such a digestible form. People on youtube are making better documentaries than Discovery channel man I swear.
Antwuan is a great example of becoming the character he played up for the branding but good to see him doing his thing to this day. I always dug his swag.
Damn i saw the name and instantly remembered that huge nollie staircase. Im super out of the loop since these days, So nice video on bringing people like me back.
He’s the best in my eyes. His style is unmatched and unparalleled.
Antwaun is the man. He's for sure one of my favorites of all time and I'm so glad he's doing better. Yeah, it would be cool to see him back on Baker or Deathwish, but it wouldn't be the same, and I wouldn't want to see him go down the wrong road again. What he's doing with FTP and Straye is good enough.
Man, in hindsight, Twaun on Chocolate and éS would have been so much better!
Sickest style I've ever seen.
Hammer time.
Ikr, really amazing
Rodney mullen taught him well...what a legend.
3rd video in a row of one of my controversial childhood idols. Keep them coming dude!!!!! These are great. Subscribed for sure
This guys skill stands alone and speaks for itself. A hero to many, even with the dark side that of course non of us are exempt from.
i'm so happy twuan turned his life around. looking good on a board still, sober and a father to two kids. he seems to be happy and taken good care of on ftp, too. hope he keeps it going for a few years.
not many people in skateboarding have the legacy antwuan has and he did it all off one part, he embodies a defuct era of skating where he doesnt even need to skate in footage to leave an impact (deathwish tour video, epicly laterd etc) hes in the same league as penny when it comes to raw talent/style and lore
Can't forget about Compton a$$ Terry
there are little kids now that rip harder then he does, hes a nothing in the history of skating and outside of skateboard nerds no regular person will ever know his name. Just another ghetto loser who was given every opportunity and did nothing but bite the hand that fed him.
Keep covering this skate stories bro; loving your content!
him and B.Herm had the BEST steez back in the day iykyk, praying for your continued healing and recovery Twuan, GET THERE B!!!!
Super trippy hearing a documentary about this cat, grew up with him in Carson. Used to know he was stopping by the house by hearing his wheels in the distance.
Antwuan is the LEGEND
One correction I must note is Baker 3 wasn't his only video part. You legit pulled footage from his second video part, which was Baker has a Deathwish. And IMO, that was actually his most impressive part. Didn't have the impact of his first one cause the video as a whole was a lot more low key, but nevertheless the part was incredible! Hopefully he can drop a 3rd tho before he hangs up his board
Was waitin on this video!!
Baker having a minor on the team during that time was hugely irresponsible
Or maybe where were his parents.
So laid back. Feel like he could land every trick with his hands in his pockets.
I met Antwuan thru tattooing in Tampa FL. I thought he was really kool dude. He was legitimate and respectful. If your coming at someone with his kinda past of course he will come at you. Im super stoked he is well and sober and doing great. Good to know. Very talented skateboarder. The SPOT Skate Park Of Tampa you will meet just about anyone engaged with this sport. Keep it up bro ❤
The skating lifestyle as a kid is full bore adrenalin and bravado ..and with that comes reckless behaviour.testing your limits..sadly this leads a lot of us down somewhere dark roads away from skating...but skating can also be the best way to battle addiction and mental health as an adult..it's such a good mental escape and full emersion meditation state that you need in life..keep skating!!
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Prayers out for Antwuan 🕊️
Antwaun will forever be in the history books of skating. Got to see him at a death wish demo in 2010 in Fresno, California.
So happy to see that top post I like his take seemed like he was very honest in hindsight I’m happy he’s doing wonderful wish him the best has a beautiful style
I was at Tampa pro and watched twan try and fight the whole dgk team and destroy the shop it’s dope to see him bounce back ,🙏🏽blessings my guy
Sounds like how labels take advantage of rappers
Artists, Athletes, Actors, all go through this shit. Corporate doesn’t care about you.
Blew my mind when I watched baker 3. I was a terrible skater as a kid but I loved the sport so much. I wish antwuan all the success in the world. He has fans all over the world ready to see his comeback!
Hahahaha you couldn't have been worse at skating than ME
I used to get beat up sometimes for even TRYIN i was so bad 🤣
I still want to know what Rodney Mullen told him..
That Tre he started his part with, was the utmost steeziest ever.. he did that effortlessly
Thanks to your channel, it was the first time when I heard this name, but my God! I swear, never in my life have I seen such effortless and fluid skating! Insanely gifted athlete.
That story at 11:30 when he got in a fight. I wonder if the other guy got charged too. He was the one who started the fight and ran his mouth in the first place? Plus he continued to try to fight him after he went in the store… if his kid was in the backseat of the car the whole time why would he continue trying to pick fights??? I wonder if he got charged with child endangerment too?
One of the goats. Think he’s dropping a proper part this year
Ah the life lessons learned by skateboarding never end, every time you step on that wooden toy believe it or not your soul heals, I think most of us lifelong skaters that have made it to the other side can all say no regrets, skateboarding taught me everything about life, people, especially corporate America. Today I give back to the kids, it’s all about the kids 🙏🏼❤️Skateboarding😊
His part in baker 3 was always one of my favorites from that video. He landed every trick so clean. While at the same time making it look so effortless.
The way he blew up and went from nobody knowing who he was to being a household name in the industry is like when Pat Duffy came out and was a phenom. Everyone loves Twan, really happy to see where he’s at today. He’s a real Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hide when he’s drinking. Thank God he’s sober now. And he been skating with the Baker/DeathWish guys again so that’s sick. Also his brother Killa D came home not that long ago, wish him the best too
This is sad it happens across all sorts of entertainment and sports industries. Glad he's back on his feet though which gives you hope... keep it bro! Nollie Heel Carlsbad gap is forever cemented into skate history as a fucking huge banger! Thank you for the epic addition to Baker 3🔥
One of the sickest styles to date. When he lands tricks it just looks so effortless. It’s like magic. Just draw dropping to watch. Wish his journey didn’t have so many twist and turns. If he just stayed on point he may have been one of the greatest of all time. Nevertheless his legend has had a huge impact on skateboarding as a whole. Anyone who is a real skater knows who he is. Heros get remembered but legends never die.
You’re joking right? Nobody agrees that he was a good skater, he was always a D tier skater, arguably the worst professional skater out there.
@@ZxAMobile you're fucking tripping dude. No, he's not on top like the robotic contest skaters of today, but he's still crazy talented, sickest style and fun to watch. I'd rather watch his Instagram than SLS.
Legend, no one ever busted onto the scene like Antwuan. Defining effortless skating.
Interesting that no skaters or videographers that look like Antuwan (ethnically) make videos from a black perspective on what happened during his early career 🤔
This was just as good if not better than the Vice one. Amazing work! 👏🏼
Literally one of the best styles I’ve ever seen, and I tried my best to emulate his style. I too relate to his story of a face pace lifestyle minus jail time and stuff like that, but drugs and alcoholism is a bitch, along with being around the wrong crowd.
You made this objectively and respectfully. Thank you
Sounds like a talented guy who the industry stuck their claws in until he was worth nothing
That and as a young naive kid from the hood was around a lot of bad company, peer pressure, temptations and enablers that led him astray into a dark path, glad Antwuan has gotten sober and back skateboarding again with a clearer mind.
Bs he had a great part, blew up, then couldn’t stop the celebration from that great part.
@@theghettoracle so as usual the black person is not at fault and its "society" lol ok simp
Glad he’s doing well always been a fan and rooting for him
No one else in the world has dropped a 2 minute part and almost 20 years later countless people still consider them their favorite skater based off that. Proof style doesn’t just matter, it’s everything.
Settle down he ain't even that famous.

Great video! Man I just hope everything works out for him. Bro definitely went through a lot.
One of the only skaters I'd believe when they say they kickfliped 1st try when they first started. Dude was mad talented. Way ahead of everyone and still competes what mega skaters put out today. Dude was just nasty at skating
Sad story. He was basically exploited by the industry then thrown away. What else would happen to a kid from the hood, given more money than he had ever seen, with no guidance or consequences? He shit on the talent he was gifted with and his bad behavior was rewarded for years. A lot of people profited at his expense..😖😢
Id love to see him drop a new part full of bangers and make a huge comeback 🙌
3:43 WTF 🤯
I like how he stands tall on all of his tricks. He taps/kicks the board down onto his grindsets. Not ollies onto, or glides over. Same thing when he does flip tricks. He sticks all of his landings, rather than "pulling them off".
self sabotage is a helluva drug
New Antwun Dixon part Pahhhleeeeaasse! Send it homie!🤙
My religious perspective: God chose this man, in whom he instilled this unique talent, to show the world that you can get out the hood and out of pre-destined criminality thanks to nothing but a small push (stolen skateboard). Like c'mon Kickflip the first day?! That's destiny right there
such an amazing video. antwuan is an absolute legend✈️
Eat Dat Shrimp
I was at that demo where he was wearing roller skates. He did not put one foot on a skateboard that day.
He got drunk and faded all the time, then he’d try to be ‘tough’, which we all know drinking does, that led him into wanting to fight, so he’d just talk shit to random people and that led to his arrests and generally criminal behavior. Just foolish man, everyone knows in their heart when they are doing wrong but refuse to care until they get older and wiser and realize the gift they took for granted and threw it all away for wanting to fight and act ‘tough’ he knew his friends knew but people have to learn on their own and stop blaming other people. He was over 18 he’s responsible for himself. Stop trying to make excuses for him- it’s not the way life works -after you get arrested ONCE for being drunk and then fighting, possibly cops, which he did fight, you should STOP drinking or being around people that party-plenty of older people gave him advice he just didn’t want to listen again he’s an adult and responsible for himself
Don’t be Antwan kids
I feel you 100%. We call that liquid courage I can’t stand people who get drunk and then act tough and gangster. Like damn where this person at when you sober
Thanks for being sane and not making excuses for this violent POS. Just because you can flip a stupid kids toy around your feet with more skill than the average person somehow makes inflicting violence on innocent people ok to these stupid commenters. I guarantee a white skater with the same record wouldn't be getting all the excuses made.
His baker 3 part was iconic. Im sure he had great times partying but he could have had more banger footage. This is kind of how most people fall off their skill. No matter what he's one of the best styles in street skating we've ever seen.
He's doing good now that's why one my favorites he's slowly but surely coming back up. Focused yet humble.
As a brazilian growing up in the worst environments, i can tell that you're responsible for your own acts.... Regardless. He did what he wanted and paid off
baker 3 such a good part. loved that beginning fs 180 then 360 flip and a fat heelflip down the stairs. he looks so comfortable on the board.
Guy couldnt handke his booze and drugs
He’s sober now I’m glad he recovered
@@dewfire5462 good he was young and full of cash he was a beast skater too
That's what you took from this? Fuckin bum lmao.

Everybody has their own career path. This was his, intentional or not. It's still inspiring and motivational. Thank you for the video.
This a really dope video.. great job homie
Man I love your videos!
He made grinding hand rails and jumping down big stair sets look so easy. It always looked effortless for him.
Amazing vid.
Thanks for bringin some light into the darkness around him.
I like his style so much.
And there were not much black sk8'ers, that make it pro.
I wish him all the best in life.
He went through a lot of shit.
Very cool video.
I met him at Thunderbird park in Phoenix 14 year's ago, he wasn't heard of back then. But was super chill, moved back to my hometown and a bam best friend showed me a video and it was A.D. dude has always had respect and love from the skateboarding family and always will, we just want what's best for him. The whole rockstar life isn't that great nor a good decision. Skating is the way to vent to stay out of trouble not encouraging it. It's rad to see new clips and him doing better, we all miss ya homie!
Antwuan is doing very well and I fucking love to see it.
He's one of a kind, a generational talent in skateboarding.
This was beautifully explained, on a neutral and informative way
would love a similar video with Ali Boulala, such an iconic skater with a sad story
Antwuan was one of my fav skaters growing up I love his style when he doing tricks
Dixon was my favorite skater as a teen had his supras and everything loved this guy still so happy to see he’s a living legend still shout out to all the lives he touched without knowing it !
Your videos are put together so well. As a videographer I can respect and appreciate the production you put into this. And youve clearly done a lot of research and are very knowledgeable. I'll sub for your future videos for sure
He is such an effortless skateboarder, it's very calming watching his style.
Amazing, eloquent storytelling.
Not many skaters have such raw talent as him. Kid who came from the hood and picked up a board one day and had one of the smoothest styles in skating. So effortless, looking like he was levitating and his feet worked like gravity pulling the board to his feet.
Really well done video! Great work.
Antwuan is one of the all time GOATS in my opinion. I remember when Baker 3 released and being blown away by this random kid that no one had ever heard of. It’s a shame we didn’t get more from him during his physical prime.
"one of the all time goats.."
Theres something very wrong with that statement lol
Every other skateboarder I meet in the world knows Antwaun Dixon, Baker guys knew what they were doing. He has won in whats most important and thats our hearts. We know whats good. Thank you Antwuan
Wow hearing baker 3 brings me way way back. That and a lakai vid were the only DVDs I had growing up
dude was a super cool when I met him, he told me he loved my Deathwish shirt and asked his manager if they sold those. Meant a lot to me as a kid, then he shredded the park afterwards. Sick.
