From what I’ve seen, mind’s eye seems to get used often in Japanese fiction in situations where someone’s skilled enough at a task that they can predict how it’s gonna play out. So that could explain why mind reader is normal, it’s not literal mind reading, but thinking ahead to predict your opponent’s move. The mention of stress points in acupressure implies that it’s modern day acupressure, which is just stimulating specific muscles, nerves, and blood vessels to release tension or trigger certain hormone releases. So no chi energy.
Pain Split is likely normal so that it affects Normal-type Pokemon, which a Ghost move would not. And you can't steal "life" energy from a Ghost, so it doesn't affect Ghost types. It's a weird mechanical snag.
I'm honestly against sound type becoming a type. That would be a huge nerf to normal pokemon losing the STAB, plus I think it makes sense that the most basic elemental attack anything and everything can learn is just being loud.
Specifically, a round is not necessarily "harmony" more than a method of generating a specific type of harmony; it describes a piece of music where the same thing is played over itself but with different start times so you hear different sections of it simultaneously. You don't have to have exhausted all of your other PP to use last resort, you just have to have used each move that Pokemon had at least once each after sending it out
Along with the Normal Type being for stuff that is basic or normal, I think it is also for stuff that is typeless or generic, stuff that doesn't belong to any of the other types. Even if it's not normal, it's a generic attack of move, with no special elemental attributes attached to it
Returning from Legends Arceus, Minimize being Normal type makes more sense. In Legends Arceus, Professor Laventon explains that if a Pokémon cannot go any longer, the Pokémon will "faint", and then actually start shrinking itself into a very small size so that they cannot be hurt as they are regenerating from battle. *Hence why they're called Pokémon* . So considering every Pokémon does this ability, Minimize being normal makes sense, though just like Belly Drum, it's probably skilled in their shrinking abilities that they can do this. Huh. This kinda makes Smogon banning moves with Minimize being one of the front cover moves of banned moves more funnier.
Idk why but I always thought of "Play Rough" as a dark type move. I keep forgetting its actually fairy type. I guess it always seemed like something that was evil or dark to me. Pretty sure I'm the only one who's thought of it that way though.
I don’t really get the sound type thing because it’s normal for animals to make sounds literally everything makes a sound and that sound can be melodic or just really loud like there doesn’t really need to be a whole new type because literally every animal can make a noise and every animal can produce a sound that can be melodic or rhythmic hence the normal type
Actually, rock climb *is* normal and it makes sense, basically all Pokémon that learn it use this move like throwing rocks in the air and then climbing then quickly through their jumps (with exception’s) so it’s not a rock type move since all Pokémon who can use this move just require the ability to throw rocks and jump off them fast enough. Although maybe you could argue it’s fighting type.
Thankyou for creating these videos I cannot imagine how much work it takes to collect that much information it's truly appreciated by all pokemon fans.
I think Foresight, Mind Reader, Lock On, they are all using the inherent capabilities of the body to their limit, rather than dipping into psychic powers or aura to do it. In a way, doing something that's 'simple' to those more exotic forms of energy, in a comparatively more mundane way.
I literally just got done watching your normal moves video a second time. I had it going in the background so I didn’t see the notification for this video😔
I'd argue that Protect is something closer to a parry, redirecting an attack away from themselves. I know that's basically deflect but it explains why the description doesn't say the mon moves out of the way.
15:39 This isn’t how Last Resort works. You just have to have used every other move you know at least once. You don’t have to fully drain them to use this move.
Hey Lockstin, a neat video idea for you might be: What Pokemon move or moves correlate the best with another group of characters from a different series. Take something like My Hero, and discuss which character would possess/prioritize what moves and why.
"i sometimes smell sweet because my pancreas doesnt work", XD lockstin casually joking about his diabetes. i'm not even that big of a pokemon fan , but i stick around for the logic and humor , keep up the good work man ^^ now i gotta go explain to my neighbors why i woke them up laughing so damn loud
A round in music is when one person begins the song, and then another joins in shortly behind the first, and then a third or more join in a little behind as well until you have the whole group singing in harmony, but they all aren’t singing the song in unison like you normally would. You’re going “around” with the singers.
15:39 this is wrong, Last resort can be used when you already all other move at least once. For example, there were a set with Ambipom with only two moves : Fake out and Last resort. The first turn, you use fake out which hits first, and flinch the target. The, at the second turn, because you used every other moves than Last resort at least once (you only have fake out...), you can directly spam it.

This video was super interesting, never really thought about how odd some of the normal moves are until now, also great job on the video!
Will you cover the history of cat worship around the world?
I'd argue that Protect is something closer to a parry, redirecting an attack away from themselves. I know that's basically deflect but it explains why the description doesn't say the mon moves out of the way.
When are you gonna do Tsareena's orgins?
also, i came here when there was only so few views
No one cares
15:39 This isn’t how Last Resort works. You just have to have used every other move you know at least once. You don’t have to fully drain them to use this move.
Cool. I think this video is cool. A Mudkip approves. And I’m an important Mudkip, because I have a monocle.
You are indeed important.
All mudkip are important tho?
@@milanbeerepoot4260 you are not wrong.
Hey Lockstin, a neat video idea for you might be: What Pokemon move or moves correlate the best with another group of characters from a different series. Take something like My Hero, and discuss which character would possess/prioritize what moves and why.
I havent been this early since buying the tofrug plush
An add literally started the moment after he said"Oh! Ya hear that? It sounds like it's time for an add break." LOL😄❤️!
Who needs jojo referances when you can peirce the heavons with you're drill!!!!
Row row fight the power
"i sometimes smell sweet because my pancreas doesnt work", XD lockstin casually joking about his diabetes.
i'm not even that big of a pokemon fan , but i stick around for the logic and humor , keep up the good work man ^^ now i gotta go explain to my neighbors why i woke them up laughing so damn loud
"The creator deity, you know, normal!" Explain this, atheists!
Okay, then. It's non-elemental. Meaning it doesn't actually fit into any magical element.
A round in music is when one person begins the song, and then another joins in shortly behind the first, and then a third or more join in a little behind as well until you have the whole group singing in harmony, but they all aren’t singing the song in unison like you normally would. You’re going “around” with the singers.
36:09 is just s*xual assault: the move
15:39 this is wrong, Last resort can be used when you already all other move at least once.
For example, there were a set with Ambipom with only two moves : Fake out and Last resort.
The first turn, you use fake out which hits first, and flinch the target. The, at the second turn, because you used every other moves than Last resort at least once (you only have fake out...), you can directly spam it.
How about doing a Digimon video every once in a while?
“Do you think if oricorio flossed it’d be an ohko move” was a mental flashbang I was not expecting, thanks for that cursed image
1st for the first time in my life!

My guess why play rough is a fairy type move is because fairies play and arnt gentle when they play, just look at midsummer night's dream
Why is this episode so long ;-; I guess theres alot of normal type moves
The most common type in pokemon by a WIDE margin.
I’m so impressed by your word play in how you go from one move to the next
"Music has a powerful effect on people".
Vigin me before listening to Everywhere at the End of Time: Lmao sure bro.
Chad me after listening to EatEoT: I no longer have a soul and haven't felt happiness in 2 months.
25:41 Actually, Sonic Boom doesn't count as a sound-based move, so it's not blocked by Soundproof.
It makes sense that it's a mystery where Delibird keeps all of the presents that it throws in battle, because the same mystery goes with Santa Clause himself, he carries the gifts for every child in the world on his little sleigh.
