    I just got fitted for the HL irons, and they are honestly mind blowing with how incredible they perform for me. I fit into the slower swing speed category, but I was getting close to 1.49 smash factor with every strike with the 7 iron. I seriously have a hard time understanding how these irons perform so well and how they fly so far for me compared to other models, including the regular Hot Metals, but I am definitely not complaining with the results.

    I recently purchased a set of the regular 923 Hot Metals. I am 72 years and a left handed player. I had hoped to try the HL version but unfortunately they are unavailable in lefty. The regular HM’s tested well vs the HL TaylorMade and Callaway models and I went with them. After 2 months I will say that I hit these clubs just as high as my previous MX-23’s and a little longer. Previously, I played a regular flex Dynalite steel shaft and now I have the UST senior flex graphites in the new clubs. In regard to full swing feel, confidence and distance, I am happy so far. What I don’t care for is their performance in the short game. The 46° pitching wedge on my old set was useful inside 100 yards for half and 3/4 swing pitch shots and chipping. The new 42.5° PW is strictly a full swing club and so far it has been useless near the green for me. I regularly used my old 8, 9 and PW for chipping but the new clubs are too hot and distance control has been difficult. In addition, the new set came with a 48° G wedge which is a smaller, blade style head and completely different from all the other cavity back clubs in the set.

I intend to play a lot more golf in the coming months (1 round every 2 weeks). usually my angle of attack is between 0 to 6 degrees upwards. I wonder if I should go for regular Hot Metal or HL version given my swing speed and angle of attack.Any advice ? thanks.

    I just think that the lift jacking has reached the point of diminishing returns for most golfers. Thomas’ landing angles with the 7i HM and HM Pro were around 40 degrees…and his speed is way above average! I would have to order these 2 degrees weak to get a reasonable landing angle.

    • @2ndswing

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! For many players, you're right. The HM and HM Pro won't stop. THat's why Mizuno added the HL to the family. But there are also plenty of players in the game-improvement category that generate too much spin, whether it be due to a very steep attack angle or a slice tendency, that would benefit from a lower spinning iron like the HM or HM Pro

    Isn’t this extremely low spinning for a 7 iron? My buddy has the 921 HM and I hit a few balls with them and I loved them so much that I ended up buying them. Should arrive tomorrow but the spin factor does have me a little nervous now. Currently gaming Taylormade RSI 1 which I love but the 921s felt superior compared to them

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Club speed and attack angle will influence that spin. With my shallower attack angle and only 80 mph speed the ball will spin low (hence why the HL would be better). It's going to be very hard to get 6000 rpm+ with a 29* 7iron regardless of swing type - Thomas
