The effort you put into creating your videos is remarkable. I cant imagine myself coming back to grab the camera almost all the time 😂 .. hats off to you for doing everything solo 👌🏻
Josh, after we looked some of your videos I like to thank you very much for your efforts. :) My wife and I have been doing a virtual trip through Australia for the past few months in Covid locked Germany and are following some Australian hikers. We love your videos because you not only show the hikes, but also show you how you eat and sleep and you do that with fantastic camera angles. That gives us the feeling of really being there with you. Today I like to thank you for all this effort because your Mamang Video gave us at 3.10 the hugest goosebumps of all. You have the ingenuity to capture happiness in pictures. We look forward to the next hike with you :D
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it! I still can’t believe how many whales I saw on that trip. Are you able to recommend any other Aussie hiking/outdoors channels that you watch? I’ve got a couple that I watch but would be interested to know if there’s any others out there that I’m missing. Hope things can ease up a little for you guys in Germany!
@@JoshCarrHikes Hi Josh, thank you for the kind reply :D Usually we look for a destination like "Perth hikes" and then see the videos that youtube finds about it, regardless of which hiker they are from, lot of private stuff, no professional channels But we've followed some good ones several times - like you too: D You probably know them: Chris & Danya (lot of excellent videos), Great Walks of the World (impressive Bib multiday), Kate Grarock... but one of the pivate videos from a guy called Sailing Hector may also be interesting for you: th-cam.com/video/FTzO4jgWAT4/w-d-xo.html (skip to 2:50, goosebumbs from incredible rain footage at Kata Tjuta). Just like your dolphins experience - beeing at the right place at the right time. Thank you for the efforts to publish it in this high quality and let us be part of it :D
Josh, fantastic video! Mindblowing footage of the whales! I was watching the last bits and thought that you need to put some gear videos and then bam - that's what you are going to do. Thanks man for your videos, very inspiring!
thanks for another wicked video man! did the hills discovery centre to brookton hwy hike that you did and had a blast last week. Keep showing off all of these gems!
Wow, what a day Josh! Amazing aerial footage of the whales to cap off a beaut of a hike, the two bays were they different whales would you know? I could see how wrapped you were I think anyone would have spent two hours taking that in.
Still pinching myself now! From what I could tell I don’t think they were. My whale knowledge is pretty limited but I believe they might have all been humpbacks?
Hi josh, love the video! You really inspired me to start overnight hiking with the cape to cape video. Two weeks later I had all my gear and set off for an overnighter at mt. Cooke. Since then iv been absolutely hooked. Can I ask what GPS / SOS device you recommend that I could pick up here in Perth? Looking forward to your next video up north!!
Thanks so much, means the world to me knowing that! I personally use the Garmin InReach Mini and have found it hard to fault. I guess the only downside is that it’s ~$500 and then on top of that you need to pay a minimum monthly subscription of $20 to use it. Definitely not cheap but can’t put a price on safety imo
Awesome video, can I ask... is this trail near the Hakea trail? Or seperate? Beautiful part of the world, my grandparents live in Hopetoun close by... I have done part of the Hakea trail when visiting them but not the full thing... it is definately on my bucket list. Also, the climb on East Mt. Barren, especially early morning to see the sunrise, it amazing.. incredible views.
Mamang is separate to the Hakea Trail, although I believe it is possible to link the two but you need to know what you’re doing. If you get the chance I’d try knock them both out, they’re equally as good as one another imo!
Hey Josh, another great video. I'm just back from doing the Hakea trail based on your video of the hike---I loved it...must have only seen 5 people the whole time I was in Fitzgerald River National Park and less on the trail--it was amazing. Just out of curiosity, what dates did you do the Mamang trail? Thanks Josh.
Did they not even have a water tank at the campsite?! Looks so good, kinda bummed I never got around to doing any of the hikes around Fitzy when I was living in Espy :(
No water unfortunately but not a huge deal in my opinion - Just got to pack an extra litre or so for the walk back and you’re all set! Now you’ve got an excuse to go back ;)
Hey, Great vid, planning to do this in late July. Noticing you haven't posted any new content in a while. If funding is an issue then consider a patreon account.. You vid's rock!
Beautiful hike and video. It’s so awesome to see those whales. And walking along those incredibly gorgeous beaches. I have subbed. I also have a hiking channel, if you could check it out. Thanks.
So beautiful there!

Haha cheers, it’s definitely not as a bad as it looks though. Keeps me on my toes all the time thinking what shot would be best next
The colours of Western Australia are always so beautiful. 15 km is perfectly doable too... I'll add this to my bucket list...
Can’t beat those turquoise waters & snow white beaches!
Wow - the whale nursery is unbelievable!
Incredible footage Josh! 😍
Thanks Dori!
Absolutely stunning footage. Thank you very much for sharing and thus inspiring me!
Unreal bro. You continue to outdo yourself.
Likewise 😉
briiliant solo videography! enjoyed watching and very informative too.

Hey Mark, apologies for the delayed response. Hakea is a bloody awesome trail, good to hear you enjoyed it! I did the Mamang 20-21st September
