- Here's my initial impressions review of the 2018 Honda CB 125 R Motorbike. This is parts of Honda's new Neo Sports Cafe motorcycle range that starts with this 125cc machine.

Saad Khral it’s reasonably cheap I spend little under £1k for fully comprehensive so it’s not bad for a young rider

That white light flashing, you can change when it does that, increase the revs required, then it comes on a lot less, or only at it's top end. Check out the manual (although I know you just had it as a loan bike).

I got this bike about 5 month's ago and I love it think it a brilliant bike. It a shame I was in a crash on the 18 November. Waiting to get it fixed now.

@@crazyzoidberg1 eventually I got my full motorcycle license, I'm currently riding a moto guzzi V85 TT. Still I loved everything about that little Honda: doesn't look like a 125, great fuel economy, great seat, a joy to drive with on little roads. Hope I have answered your question ;-) Take care
mine arrived yesterday and was out around crosby and liverpool area today. excellent bike loved lane splitting and ease of journey, but it struggled around parbold area when i got there
i taped up the light indicator so i was all fine!!

Wow. I learned to ride on a Honda 125 - it was a bit older than that one though!
I can say, on the M50 in Dublin/Wicklow my GF/Pillion did get a fairly loud wind stream at 100-110km/h. I grabbed the Givi front shield (at the time €40ish) and it's done a fairly good job of both keeping the dash clean during the rain, and a quieter ride for the pillion. Despite how tiny it is.
Great! I had a Givi touring screen on my Vstrom and it made a huge difference.
I absolutely love this bike! I've sat on one and neither of my feet could touch the ground in both sides but it felt amazing and I got that excited feeling. I just need advice, how do I comfortably handle a bike with only one leg on the ground? I would NOT want to drop it!
Did you try sitting on it with your motorcycle boots on as this does add a little more? As long as both your feet can be on toes you should be ok. I just checked and the seat height is a little higher than I expected at 816mm. For comparision, the Honda CB125F (there's a long term review of that on my channel too) is quite a bit lower at 775mm. I'd look up seat height specs of bikes you like and then go try sitting on some.
@@RichRides Thank you! I've sat on a cb125f and my feet are flat on the floor with still a little leg bend! Have you reviewed the gsx s125? That's the other bike I've had my eye on, but I've not found one to sit on yet haha
@@fourforaboy575 No worries and sorry I've not tried a GSX S125 myself. Most manufacturers do list the seat height though so at least you should be able to put together a list of bikes to try that should be ok.

In the bike shop by me by Cardiff Wales (thunder road) there's a few of them and the monkey bikes they got, fun bikes but want a bigger one now
Hey man, I'm basically looking to buy either the msx or the CB, what's your take on both bikes what do you prefer? It won't be for commuting in my case, purely just a hobby / toy / transport for weekends and maybe through the week

Nice review thank you (looking at bikes for my granddaughter). One thing missing from many reviews is how the bike is at night-time - lighting, instrument panel, being seen etc. Just wondering what your thoughts are!
Thanks. Ref riding at night then this isn't something I did on this bike. However, I've ridden other Honda's with a very similar LCD display and these work great at night. Much better than analogue instruments imo.

I am thinking avout getting this bike. But is it ok for a 21 year old to ride a 125. Just for fun (thinking about doing +-50km tours) and driving to work. I feel like 125 are underrated. Like people say that you cant have fun on a 125. Looking forward to see a reaction. Greets from Belgium
Hi Stef. I had loads of fun on my first bike which was a 125cc Suzuki VL125 Intruder. I think you can have fun on anything myself and proven so last summer with a 50cc Babetta (look back through my videos) for a few months. In the UK you can ride a 125cc without a full motorcycle license (which is expensive to get these days) which is another reason lots of people ride 125's. The CB125R has a better top speed than most though (officially 80mph) so is fine for most riding but it wouldn't be my choice for big week long tours.
What are the chances you went past the cow and calf, i live in ilkley and its so strange how i click on this video of a bike im wanting to buy. Knew i recognised they area haha
Haha! Let's call it fate then :) If I were you I'd go for a test ride on this very bike then, as they have it as a demonstrator at Craigs Honda in Shipley.
The Retro look is good, however in Australia all of the new CB retro bikes are very expensive unfortunately, otherwise they are very nice bikes.
Yes the Neo Sports Cafe range are a lot more expensive than the "normal" Honda 125 range in the UK too. The CB125R here is nearly double the cost of the CB125F!

Yes, a few tweaks have been done but the main differences are a bit more power and Showa front suspension. This should make it even better than the 2018 version I reviewed in this video.

Hi, Unlike some 125's it is a full size bike. I'm 6ft tall and it didn't feel cramped or that the bike was small at all so I'm sure you'd be fine too.
Rich Rides on the other hand, is it too big for a 5’7 guy?
I sat on one yesterday and I'm 5' 10 and didn't feel it too tall at all

I know you didn't spend that long with the CB125R but any idea how its fuel consumption might compare to the CB125F? I hate to rely on official figures as it rarely reflects real world use.
It will be very similar. I've ridden many Honda 125's now (both bikes and scooters) and they typically all return just over 100mpg.
I get 111mpg on a 15 mile round trip commute to work. The tank is small 10.1 litres 135kgs weight. The CBF is less heavy so will probably get 150mpg. Euro 5 reduced tank size to 10 litres instead of say 13 to 15.
@@pauljosephhealy I've heard the CB125F can get 200mpg if mostly driven around on 30mph roads, otherwise it plummets. I ended up getting the CB300R which is averaging 90mpg on Sainsbury's super unleaded, though I am not riding regular routes so it will fluctuate a bit.

I would say, that's the standard price for a proper 125 since 20 Years at least. My former 2001 Varadero did cost the same back then.
It's actually quite cheap for a modern 125cc bike... The Duke and MT125 both cost about 300€ more and anything that's a "Sports" Bike in this class costs upwards of 5000€ (RS4 125 Replica costs ≈5.400€) Honestly I don't really see why they cost so much though..
Its called saving im not rich i live on a council estate and i can buy it in cash and I work that's probably because I don't have kids or a girlfriend who wants me to buy her a jimmy choo handbag for her collection.. That's the best part of being single money to my self or yeah couple of toys for my dog but they don't want anything just your company best friends ever 🐶🐕💞
I cant decide between a cb125f and cb125r. Is the cb125r worth the extra £1400? Itll be my first bike after passing my cbt.
Both are great first bikes so it's really down to your budget. If you're planning on doing your full bike license then personally I'd go for the CB125F, ride that for 6 months and get some good miles of riding experience, and then go for your full license.
If you're looking to stay on a 125 for longer, and you have the initial funds, then the CB125R may be a better longer term option.
Both are great first bikes and they both hold their value really well. Whichever you decide to go for, I'm sure you'll be happy anyway 👍

Im 31 years old and getting this as my first bike. I have done my mod 1 but not mod 2 yet. Do you think its a good idea for me to just learn on this for 6 months or so before upgrading to the cb650R or just get the 650r straight away?
Personally I think it's a good idea to ride a smaller (and much lighter) bike for a few months to get to grips with riding and gain some decent experience.
I would like to ask is there a massive difference between the neo, and the standard cbf 125 you mentioned, I mean power and comfort i realize the looks may be somewhat classier,but do i need to spend those extra hundreds of pounds ,to get a honda 125 that will give me a similar quality ride ,
Riding the Neo and the 125F back to back you can notice the difference. The Neo felt to have a bit more power, better suspension, and just felt a more premium product.
For most people (in the UK at least), a 125 is often a short term bike before doing a full unrestricted bike license and the 125F is still a great bike and suits that need perfectly. If you were looking for a 125 as a long term bike with no desire for anything bigger than a 125 (or budget wasn't an issue!) then the Neo is worth the extra imo.

@@peterryan7827 No worries at all and glad it helped. I just had a quick look at current prices, for a 2018 CB125F prices seem to be £2-2.5k and £3-3.5k for a 2018 CB125R (Neo). From what you've said above, I'd be tempted to save some cash and get the CB125F.

I think you'll struggle on any smaller bike really. But for a 125 bike this is full size rather than some. I think the only way to really see what suits you is to go and sit on a few different options.
Really good few with the rear mirrors? I have the cb300 and can't see anything with them.
I've not ridden a CB300 so can't really comment but yes I found the 125R mirrors to work well. I'd expect the actual mirrors to be the same but maybe different position and bars.

I'm not sure it will and couldn't find any info saying it would be. It does look like India will get the CB300R though :)

now the bike is amaze balls it looks so much better in real life than in a video .. go to your honda dealer and have a look its really modern looking not as retro as it looks on video. so i was interested about the ride but the floor cam means i cant watch this.

It's a traditional geared motorcycle, not a twist and go.

No, the bike just had the standard exhaust and still sounded good :)

Most 125's aren't really suited to that kind of riding but for short stints it would be ok as this bike would sit at 60 ok as long as not too hilly!
@@RichRides yeah would only be around 10-15 minutes or so on one. Issue is where I live that’s the only real option to then get to some back roads. Assuming even less so for the 125f? Thanks for the reply !

I've not actually ridden a MT125 but having looked as one closely before, they are great looking bikes and really good quality. I've ridden an MT07 though and that rode as well as it looked :)

The top speed is listed as 80mph flat out (and it felt like it would do it) so excellent for a 125!

Yes, I'm not sure it's even hit showrooms yet. The biggest changes are a new engine (slightly more powerful) and better front suspension.

Seems like everything the CB125F should be, but the ugly single digital display and the rediculous looking tank with 2 protruding horns stuck on it put me off.
