- The Cubs added a run in the ninth on pinch hitter Tom Goodwin's two-out single that scored Eric Karros, who had reached on an error. Then Joe Borowski retired the Braves in order (including a nice catch by Sammy Sosa at the wall) to win the game and the series. Cubs 5, Braves 1.
That Braves lineup was no joke- 235 HR's!. And Kerry Wood made them look helpless.

We eventually won it all but I'm still salty about this lol. This team was world series champion material.

That's an incredible playoff series win drought the Chicago Cubs had: 95 years to win a postseason series of any kind.
And then we had to wait 12 years later for another one

Karros and Grudzielanek were critical to this seasons team. Great trade by Hendry in retrospect.
Yes, but the trade that made them a force was the trade that brought them Ramirez and Lofton. I think they were 5 under when they made that trade and they took off from there. Since then, they haven't had a leadoff hitter as effective as Lofton.
The three guys Borowski retired 1-2-3 in the 9th: Combined 106 HR's and 331 RBI's that year.
Chris Kreager Braves led the league in offensive numbers that year and choked badly. No heart at all.
Best moment ever. It's sad that its now 111 years since the Cubs' last World Series title. This sucks :-/

No one won it in 2016. It didnt happen BECAUSE of the election. Congress passed a law the year before declaring that no championships in sports are to be held in the second half of the year so that people can focus on the election. It's a rediculous law I know. Cubs had their best chance in 2016 and a lousy stupid law blocked it. I'm still angry about that. Do they care? Noooooo...As for Trump, the guy bangs like 500 women a day all under Melania's nose.
