Back in the days of VCRs, I used to record almost every sporting event I attended and others that were significant. Now I'm finally getting around to putting those videos on DVD, and I'd love to share them with sports fans everywhere. Being a Chicago guy, I have Blackhawks, Bulls and Cubs games, but there's plenty more I haven't uncovered yet. So, as they say, stay tuned.
Reflections on 1984: Cubs Win! (Part 2/2)

The White Sox' hiring of Tony La Russa has me nostalgic for his first tenure with the team. Here's a game from 1983, when the Sox won the AL West with 99 victories. In front of 46,000-plus on a Saturday night at old Comiskey Park, the Sox beat the Yankees 5-1 as Richard Dotson went the distance. The video starts in the second inning with scored tied 1-1. Harry Caray called his last White Sox game on TV in the penultimate game of the 1981 season (he called the season finale on radio). Caray, who joined the Sox in 1971, would move across town to the Cubs, whose games he called through the 1997 season. He died Feb. 18, 1998. Before coming to Chicago, Caray called Cardinals games for 25 years (1945-69) and A's games for one.

The last time the Marlins were good and were even relevant in MLB
i love how cubs biased the booth is; "prior only had a one run lead to work with, and that can tire a guy out, although i am not saying that is true here, prior has been bred to be tougher than any other pitcher..."as the marlins knock his ass out of the game and stick it to the cubs and their pathetic fans. they are at game six, and their big moment is chanting "asshole." Slightly better than yelling racial epithets at the opposing teams outfielders, but classic cubs bullshit. worst fan base in baseball. trump 2024.
Chip was a very good announcer. But he showed quite a few times that he was not an expert on the game of baseball.
When the crowd’s yelling “asshole, asshole asshole.” lol
Back when division titles were really exciting to win, before the expanded playoffs ..
What would Jared from Subway do at 13:48?
Even watching this blast reminds me of a very dark time.
Best inning ever. Cuck the fubs
LMAO. Never noticed this before, but Lyons makes the statement, "That's just a little kid, you can't fault him" referring to Bartman. Knowing that crowd I don't think it would've mattered.
Funny how Brennaman mentions Mordecai "3-Fingered" Brown as Mike Mordecai flew out for Out 1. Missed segue there.
GARBAGE TO THE. ORIGINAL..YOU CAN'T REMAKE PERFECTION..ONLY TRY AN FAIL.AN YOU HAVE .DONE FAIL
13:42 The commercial helped me with the tears
Bartman's friend went for the ball too
And all that Bartman suffered was before social media........
Came here after the Yankees 5th inning collapse. Just imagine if the same thing here had happened to the Yanks!
Dunna nunna nunna nunna nunna nunna nunna nunna Bartman Bartman
Steve Bartman looked so nerdy, and because of that everyone made him out to be a scapegoat. It was too easy for all those people to put the blame on him. Life is really mean, sometimes!
Alex Buckner desires the credit
I love how the FOX camera crew panned at Steve Bartman who has a blank expression on his face after interfering with the foul ball in the 8th inning. With the earpiece he was wearing, fans would wonder was someone talking to him from outside Wrigley Field or was he just listening to a radio broadcast of the game?
Watching it again because I despise the Cubs. This was so insane to watch live on TV as it happened lol
“That could be huge.” He was not wrong
Hopefully Thom doesn't call us a slur😂
Joe Buck should've called this instead because Brennaman wasn't great.
Wait?No Iphone commercials?😂
Ball would have landed on the concrete footer for the railing. Absolutely the right call.
Players are intellectually stronger today he said? No fuckin way. They’re way weaker. They’re pussies
Steve Bartman...
Still hurts today !
Why leave Prior in?? 🤦🏽♂️
Imagine blaming a guy in the stands for professionals actually screwing up the game
I mean I kind of do. He took away that second out
@clarkness77 there were 3 people going for the ball and its not his fault the team collapse for the end of the game and and lose the next one. And you think its fair to what the city did to him after? Fkin disgraceful
He clearly knocked it out of the players glove. Everybody else was doing the right thing and standing back to let him make the play. Can't defend that
@@clarkness77 its not that cut n dry a bunch of people are seen going for it his hand was just in the right spot. Still doesnt make what happened to him right in any way.. and at the end of the day THE PLAYERS play the game. And they fked up over n over
My Fish Team defeated Cubs!
What really warms my heart here is that as the inning begins these announcers are talking about the Cubs going to the World Series as if they've already won the game. Seeing them fall apart after Bart's bobble just thrills me to no end. I could watch this a thousand times and still feel the joy of knowing the Cubs had it all in their hands and simply let it slip away. All because their left fielder Alou made a show out of nothing because that ABSOLUTELY was not fan interference. Not even close to being fan interference.
Yes, Bartman and the other fans should have been smarter and backed away. Yes, afterward, Gonzalez should have made the routine play at short. But really, when you think about it, it was the umpire who is most to blame. If he had called interference, the Cubs win and go to the World Series and none of this happens.
reminds of yankees collapse in Game 5 2024 WS
@21:50 Star Wars Rogue Squadron III Rebel Strike for Nintendo GameCube commercial! Great game!
I spied Admiral Ackbar “It’s a trap”
,⚾⚾⚾💯⚾⚾🥁🥁🎸🎯🎲🎲🎶🎶💯⚾💋
who bat the ball that led to the Steve Bartman incident from the Marlins?
Lol, it literally starts with America giving missiles to Israel. Some things never change.
Watching this collapse never gets old... Hilarious
I'm just glad that I can watch this knowing the Cubs would eventually go to and win the world series
Yup, this has been erased from my memory. 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs!!!
What if Luis Castillo ended up striking out in the 8th inning? We would have never heard of Steve Bartman. The Cubs pitching and Alex Gonzalezs' error cost the Cubs the game.
My favorite cubs home run of all time
Amazing how many hits came Alou’s way that inning
7:35 you're welcome
Bartman cost them the game because alou would have caught the ball and stopped the momentum of marlins
Yo but score ended 6-3 valezuela died age 63
Every old fan they showed in this video, PROBABLY didn't see the 2016 win. 🤷🏻♂️
Dude said they should've thrown the fan on the field. 😅😅😅
I remember watching this on live tv.. Poor guy... Sad what these fans did to him
