Who’s version of Q
I say that as a trekker and a Whovian
@@elphiegleason3899 More like Q is Trek's version of the Toymaker, as the Toymaker was first in a First Doctor story.
I feel like someone was challenged to one-up the Master's dance scene and took it PERSONALLY
Totally agree , rasputin was fun too !!! ill be uploading that too .Just subbed to your channel !! Hope you enjoyed it I did :@D
The Master / Missy used to be my favourite character, but NPH just made me re-think that lolol
@@joshuajost3351 O is retroactively implied to the incarnation of the Master succeeding the Lumiat, a female incarnation of the Master whom Missy regenerated into using an Elysian field.Missy is 19th incarnation
@@Carbine_Alloy Can't forget Simm's Master dancing to I Can't Decide either.
Which one, there are at least two.
I think what absolutely sells this for me is the look of *genuine terror* on the Doctor’s face during the dance number. Like, how seriously he says “THEY’RE DEAD. I’m sorry” while NPH is dancing to Spice Girls is just something else
Yeah because when you think about it the Toymaker is exactly that. He's fun and cool until he starts killing people just because he can.
@slefranco6630 No the Toymaker kills or turns people into his toys, being an elemental he exists outside of reality, time and space, he does what he does because its fun to him
Of course he has gid like powets only held back by games . Subbed btw @@slefranco6630
@@melina001aexactly very well put ... the concept is incredible..subbed btw 🎉
Its an amazing scene its both ridiculous and hilariously camp, but at the same time actually terrifying. Its one of the most Doctor Who things ever and I love it.
"there is order, there is chaos, and there is play" is such a great line. Because yeah, play is the middle ground where order and chaos mix, as demonstrated by the Toymaker. He's wild and chaotic and unpredictable, but at the same time has very clear and defined rules, just like a game.
" without choas theres no control " epic writing indeed !
I want a full season explaining his rules limits and background
I would love to see that too .. like when he said to the doctor ive bedn playing with your lige like a puzzle ..made me think o sheet lol subbed btw @@theangryenderman7073
@@theangryenderman7073 I figure the Toymaker is along the lines of:
- If you play a game with him, then he will abide by the rules/limits of the game
- If you don't play a game with him, then he has no rules/limits to abide by
So playing a game with him is dangerous, but not playing is worse.
ok so i am pretty sure there is an audio story which explains the toymaker made up his rules because he tought life without rules was boring. In other words if he ever gets tired of that, well no rules will apply to him again which is frightening to think about.@@toddkes5890
Man, you can tell Neil Patrick Harris was having an absolute blast during this scene.
he loved it ... best out of the 3 specials by far it was just fun !
I love the diversity of Doctor Who villains. You have silent no nonsense threats like the weeping angels and the silence, the classic bombastic villains of the Cybermen and Darleks, and the flamboyant self indulgence of the Toy Maker and Missy. It's a rogues gallery that rivals those of Batman and Spiderman in my opinion.
And this is why Dr who is great 👍 ... something for everyone ...
It’s a rogues gallery that is far better then Batman and Spider-Man
@@460masur delusional and I genuinely feel sorry for you
To rival that of Batman, yeah.
Who does Superman have? Lex Luthor everyone could name. Casual fans could name Doomsday, Brainiac, maybe Mr Myzspitlik just because of the weird name. But who else?
Doctor Who has so many iconic villains, easily at least on par with Batman. Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, The Master, Weeping Angels, etc.
And like Batman, who has everything from the chaotic Joker to the weird Condiment King to the deadly Deathstroke, The Doctor's rogues gallery covers every theme and genre a writer could want to use.

Did anyone else notice the Toymaker shows up exactly as the Doctor said he would. He says that “…this thing can get from 1925 to now like stepping through a door.” and then when he finally shows up he comes through the door of his “toy shop”.
Funny little detail I noticed.
The timing was amazing the whole thing was incredable , going to make a short of this !!! subbed btw :D
my brain imagines the toymaker like "oh I have just the way to make this work but... the entrance is everything!!! The entrance how should I-- *hears the doctor say through a door* ...that's it fantastic thank you!!!
@@GaialeiStrife LOL its as if he almost heard him as you said and he said " hold my beer " LOL
I love how the doctor is about to go into this long winded explanation of the Toy Maker but then he just shows up. Quite literally show not tell
i think someone coming into the episode at the very start of this scene would still have a good idea who the toymaker is after that
I love that his dance numbers ends with him escaping through a trap door like Count Olaf!😂
I totally agree currently editing a short .... of course its from the toymaker !! Thankyou for commenting !
I love more that the trap door does not exist, is mind blowing 🤯
@@gohanmoreno7 yeah, Count Olaf wishes he had one of those!
Sorry about the delay all edited now .part one of maybe 4 if you want to see it 🤔
Imagine if the Toymaker discovered Eurovision, since he fell in love with humanity...
He may and I would vote him first in place
I love the fact that this just shows that the toymaker truly doesn’t follow the rules of reality and that he can just show up and manipulate reality so easily
The Universe is a giant play thing to him :D
NPH was incredible. I love this scene so much. Toymaker shows up out of nowhere prancing around singing spice Girls purely to fuck with everyone for 2 minutes and then he leaves.
Neil was the perfect casting for The Toy Maker. I've watched this scene at least 10 times.
@dozierc totally agree 👍 I think I'm gunna upload more of the toymaker .
Thank Russell T Davies. He wrote it and gave us the new idea of Bi Regeneration.
I really hope he comes back at a later date. NPH did a fantastic job as the toymaker
I would LOVE it if he did ! Amazing !!! More toymaker NPH to come !!
He won't. It was a one off... He literally never even heard of Doctor Who before he was asked as a favour to do the role. He'll never return.....However...the character of the toy maker could probably return one day
Fingers crossed right ??
@@Carbine_Alloy will he come back
@@jarrodedson5441 I really really HOPE SO , we'll all love that inc me !!
I feel like NPH was like "can I have a musical number?" And they said no and he just did it anyway, and thats how this happened. It just seems like something NPH would do.
old toy maker: *likes games*
new toy maker: *does a whole party with games*
His whole thing is game ! - reality is his play thing lol
I dont think youve seen the original story
@@apersonandaperson I've never watched the original classic toymaker dr who ! but i love this new one
I usually really, really hate when a show/movie just shoves in a musical for no damn reason. But this, this is it done so right lol. Normally it's such a corny and over the top way to try and fail to manipulate audience emotion. But here the whole point is that it's a pisstake. The Toymaker is literally trying to think of the most ridiculous way to flex that he's invincible because he just thinks it would be funny by virtue of being so ridiculous.
And you are very right ✅️ this is perfection ...
I'm obsessed with this scene and the companion puppet show. I know we all bash on Chibnall probably way too much but I have more fun with these 2 minutes than I did during his entire era. This episode was perfect Who, terrifying AND camp. Terrifyingly camp.
I have strong feeling about whitiker and chipnall ...but ... some of the episodes I really enjoyed
Goes to show he did better than Moffat by NOT killing EVERY companion the Doctor picked up
There's no such thing as bashing Chibnall too much 😜😂
@@nothingtoseehere2336 kind of agree with that lol
@@cunningsmile4166 That's very debatable, especially considering how the arcs of most of Moffat's companions were absolutely amazing and their deaths were impactful as well
I personally like to imagine the Toymaker in the void, looking through all of the pop songs in existence and trying to figure out which one he should use for his entrance
LOL - Ok that was funny LOl he might be ...he is immortal has all the time he needs lol
Its so good. Right before this scene you are like "Wow this antagonist is terrifying", and then this scene comes up and it makes it soooo much better
"he can get from 1925 to here like walking through a door"
*walks through a door to get there*
Thats what god do lol ....time is nothing lol
The Master: I have the most epic dance scene
The Toymaker: Hold my rose petals
Now we need a Toymaker v Master dance off.
Oddly ENOUGH ....I was going to do something along them lines a new edit !!! GREAT IDEA !!
Maybe that was the game the Master lost
@cnc9716 I never thought of that ... thats just brilliant 👏
For that, he needed to extract him from his gold teeth first.
Kids in the year 2023 your uncle Barney decided to become a celestial Toymaker and mess with all of reality and kids it was LEGENDARY

but dad if barney is all powerful why did mommy die.
The Toymaker is an elemental force.
He WAS locked away in a separate universe.
Now he's in ours.
And he's making it EVERYONE'S problem.
He is an Elemental force , plays with galaxys like its nothing lol
@@Carbine_Alloy Mofo can turn galaxies into spinning tops if he wants to
@@xtrafries123 LOL ok that made me giggle LOL see what i did there lol
In my opinion the toymaker has no limits except for what he puts on himself. If i remember correctly he basically stated that he became so bored that he had to start playing games to keep the boredom away. I think at some point he just decided that he couldn't cheat even if he wanted too because he wanted some challenge. Same as with the prize at the end. The toymaker had to give himself high stakes and it seemed as though the toymakers powers are temporarily given to the winner for them to alter probably any aspect of the universe that the toymaker himself could have altered with his powers.
Hes a celestrial ( sorry misselt that ) ...the concept of him is amazing 100% ... I love how offended he was when Donna said hell cheat LOL
@@Carbine_Alloy I think I remember they way the toymaker was explained was he isn't technically a true celestial. There are alot of theories saying basically the toymaker was from the previous universe one apparently whos laws of physics were more based in what we would call magic. He was supposed to be from the last universes version of time lords. Who supposedly traversed from one universe to the other. Like the doctor was supposedly from the previous universe. Which would explain his regenerative powers when no other being in his current universe could do anything close to that level of power. The doctors "mother" one of the founders of the current timelord civilization was trying to enter the next universe herself. Which probably would have contained a different law of physics which would have probably made that person who crossed into a different universe seem like a god compared to the beings in that new universe.
@@alexbayles9030 very very interesting Thanks that's very cool ! also did you know the Toymaker was supposed to be a timelord originally ?
I like that he doesnt duplicate, he is just everywhere at once
Thats a great film :D - You cant kill a god lol
This is the closest we'll ever be to a live action SCP
Its closer to a depiction of a Fae from gaelic myth. They're chaotic and unpredictable, but have a very clear set of esoteric rules they have to follow.
What about the Weeping Angels? They're mysterious, scary (even though they seem harmless at first), it's difficult to contain them and they literally have the same gimmick as SCP-173
I hope the weeping angels come back in the next few new seasons but they was brilliant enemys !
This was so much better than the Master with Rasputin 😂😂
weirdly saying that .. that is also on it's way !!! You have a new subscriber !!
It hasn't been 24 hours for the Doctor since that happened
Technically YES ... rasputin will be coming very soon too !! lol @@cunningsmile4166
I haven't seen the OG toymaker episodes, but what I love about this is that he truly transcends morality. Batman's joker is a clown and makes jokes and all, but he's ultimately a sadist.
Toymaker isn't, he just plays, like a nigh-omnipotent child who's dancing with his dolls one moment and then melting them under a magnifying glass the next. The question isn't "Is this good or bad?" or "Will this harm or help?" No, the only question he cares about is "Is this fun, or is it boring?"
If you wanna see the doctor play and win, the original is good. If you wanna see a companion play and win, 'Solitaire' from Big Finish is fantastic
He doesn't transind anything
He is just a Narcissistic man child with the power of a god
Only the last episode of the original story aired in 1966 exists. The other three episodes are missing but they might turn up someday. In fact 97 of the 253 episodes that aired from 1963 to 1969 are missing and presumed lost.
Must have watched this 10 times 😂 I genuinely love it NPH needs to return as the Toymaker he's incredible 🎉
I applaud whoever decided to have Neil Patrick Harris play this character opposite David Tennant. We don't deserve this level of greatness and yet here it is.
Agreed a Billion % ....if he returns and I HOPE HE DOE'S ..... that'll be beyond amazing !!
( editing a very new short btw watch out )
David Tennant was fantastic at this, but I can NOT stop thinking about how Matt Smith would've handled this.
hey i loved matt smith some of his content coming very soon btw you now have 30 subs :D ... remember the pandorica ?? yes that's coming soon :D
NPH was born for this role!
A million percent agree ........I tried to find this on YT for days in full and i couldn't ..so i did my own thing and wanted to share this amazing piece of work with all !! You have a new sub enjoy !
This might be the best use of a 'mastermind dancing scene' Doctor Who has had.
The Master (John Simms) summoned the Toclafane while Voodoo Child played, and then he gave out the order to remove 1/10 of the population.
The Master (Sacha Dwahan) just danced to Rasputin while his machine got ready (I haven't watched The Power of the Doctor since it first aired, so I can't remember what exactly happened.)
But here, not only does the Toymaker attack the Doctors companions, but he also kills 2 soldiers and turns to bullets to petals. It makes for an entertaining scene that also keeps the Toymaker as a dangerous threat.
The Doctor: “…and I warn you, this thing can get from 1925 to now like stepping through a door.”
The Toymaker: “YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER”
And then Literelly steps through a door LOL
@@Carbine_Alloy with a little song and dance.
I have absolutely no idea what just happened but I was here for every minute of it
He just came and left LOL - well he is a literal god so suppose he can do what he wants tried to clip it but had too many views might re make this later in the year !
I love that they A) brought the Toymaker back, B) brought one of the best doctors back, and C) got NPH to play him
I couldn't have worded it better myself ! 100% true...a new short will be up from the winners of my poll " Rasputin meets the Toymaker " its a teaser for the main video lol

Nice channel , never touched darksouls heard it's brutal !
The Toymaker is a genius villain just as a antithesis to what The Doctor believes in or how The Doctor acts. The Doctor can find joy and fun in everything. There are so many moments, no matter which Doctor is on screen, where the villains are just standing there, thinking: "He's treating this like a game..." Or "He's just having fun." Or "He's just toying with me..." And to have that concept become a dark physical manifestation directed at The Doctor... It's more terrifying that anyone or anything else. A pure distilled deconstruction of those moments, that raw elemental energy but as a force that the Doctor has to fight. Chills. Even with the singing and dancing.
Very very explained , just messing with him i think ...but it was hilariously and very well done , great comment Thanks :P
One of the greatest scenes in all of Doctor Who. Needs to win an award
AGREED , but what if the master met the Toymaker and thats why the toymaker got his gold tooth cus a dance off was a game !!
The Toymaker settled at some point at the begginig of the 21st Century, watched How i Meet your Mother and refused to watch the show end.
When the tardis runs away. You know you are in deep shit

I got the feeling that the Toymaker just showed up to Troll the Doctor and Unit
100% ... he did his thing and then vanished lol
This is when the Doctor realised that he was screwed. The Toymaker had entered the universe, wrecked an unknown amount of havoc across the universe, and then here turned up unannounced and showed off his power in such a casual way.
This is when the Doctor realised that the Toymaker had fully entered the universe, unlike the previous times of partially entering.
