Me too for me Janeway made the show and Kate Mulgrew as Janeway. I can’t imagine anyone else in the role. She was better than Picard or character, even though Patrick Stewart really tried to bring quite a bit of gravitas to it. She was always better than that, her character was also always better than that… Tim Russ as Tuvok is the only true Vulcan character he plays the Vulcan character better than anyone. I’ve seen play Vulcan and yes even better than Leonard Nimoy but then again, Leonard Nimmo‘s character was never holy Vulcan to begin with. I’m sorry I’m using voice to text. It doesn’t write things down the way I would like to. I hope you can make heads or tails of this. It may say I edited it, but I didn’t. I just added something so that my comment would make sense and I agree she is the best of all of them. I did like Deep Space 9 however I found it very chauvinistic in so many ways and I found the same thing to some degree on Voyager, but it was to be expected considering that one of the show runners, one of the guys in charge was known to be a male chauvinist pig and a racist to boot.
Here we have Mulgrew talking about beeing a role model to young female scientists and days later the astronaut Sam Cristoforetti is posting a picture of herself from the ISS, wearing a Starfleet uniform and citing Janeways "There is coffee in that nebula". THAT is the power of Star Trek.
@@gjd1942 Well, maybe she didn't like the fact that a woman must be in a tight-fitting costume in which she casts so that the young men can drool. I heavily respect Kate Mulgrew and I personally think she is one of the best actors star trek has ever seen. Her and the whole cast of voyager made it a joy to watch.
You were my favorite captain on star trek. Voyager was my favorite star trek show and i would watch it every day i got home from school. I would dream about meeting that cast almost every day. I would love to see you back as Captain or Admiral Janeway someday. Thank you for all that you did and for being so awesome.
+Kurtis Gomske (EL KURTO) She did come back as Admiral Janeway in Star Trek Nemesis movie. Although it was a very brief time in the movie, sadly. She was magnificient.
I love Voyager, and her portrayal of Captain Janeway is probably the reason number one. What a great role model, the strength, the ideals, and the heart of a lion. I've watched Voyager back then on TV, but since then I keep rewatching all seasons again and again. And the final episode, when Janeway pays Tuvok a visit, it always make be burst into tears. I always enjoyed the way of acting of captain Janeway. Later, I was standing at the bridge of hughe sea going vessels as an officer and thought many times of her.
Kate, thank you for your dedication. You truly embodied the character and she inspired me. I joined the military when I was right out of high school and I would think of her often. I'm currently re-watching the entire series and it's just been so comforting. I wish I could have served with her :) I hope to read your book in the future. Kate Mulgrew is one awesome person. I am so so so happy that she played captain Janeway in Star Trek. No one else could have played that role any better. So for the bottom of my heart. THANK YOU :-)
Playing a captain on Star Trek is like playing the best example humanity has to offer on regards to intelligence, wisdom, integrity, and compassion. And I think she expressed those very well.
Kate's efforts are appreciated. Janeway rules the universe. My wife and I just finished all 7 seasons of Voyager and we're in withdrawal. The show was brilliant.
She was a great captain, enjoyed her performance throughout the show. . Voyager was the best for me because it really captured that sense of wonder and exploration perfectly and i just wanted to keep on watching because i was so hooked to find out what happens next, which worlds they discover, what problems they encounter.. so good!
This woman is totally inspiring and a wonderful, subtle and multi-dimensional actress what I wouldn't give to have been that interviewer, Kate Mulgrew is definitely someone you'd want to have tea and cake with huh? Wonderful.
Everytime I see her in interviews or videos at conventions I always feel like I really would like her as a person and enjoy her company. She seems like such an honest and stoutly forthright person, with a genuine passion for what she does. This clip just reinforces how much of an amazing hard working person she really is. Working that many hours, getting up at stupid o'clock every day and for that many years ALL whilst raising and providing for her own family... really is inspirational to hear 🙂
Kate Mulgrew, thank you for that hard work. Star Trek needed a strong / smart female to be captain of a starship and you delivered 10 fold. Voyager exceeded my expectations and you were the biggest part of how I felt about the series. Excellent writing by the way. This, coming from a guy who grew up on the original series. I had ties to the new Star Trek film's producers and directors but, unfortunately, that evaporated 'beyond' (no pun intended) my control. I had a concept for a thriller that incorporated, Captains Archer, Kirk and Janeway into one film. Maybe some day. Thank you again Kate!
What an incredible actor and an amazing human. Thank you, Kate Mulgrew, for bringing us one of the greatest Star Fleet captains in Trek history! If they ever offer you a chance to reprise your iconic role, please accept! The world needs Admiral Janeway now more than ever!!
Great actor. "Actress" is an antiquated term. An "actress" is an actor who gets paid less. She's an ACTOR. And a damn good one at that. Her contribution to the "Voyager" series can't be overstated. She was incredible!
Well, no. An actor is male, an actress is female. Wage gap is a myth. We really don't need more social justice in Star Trek. Also, she's probably the worst possible choice for the role. Awful actress.
OMG....I can't explain but it still my favorite show! I have all seven seasons on DVD and I watch it again and again.... loved Kate Mulgrew as captain Janeway, the best captain ever :) I still have goosebumps!
Women I know having trouble with work colleagues or whoever, received several videos of Janeway dealing with difficult people or aliens. I said...watch her...absorb her...become as unyielding. Kate, you helped them all. Superb roll model.
Excellent Actress, absolutely love her. Her role as Janeway and now Red to this day a stunning performance. Hat's off to her for her work and tireless efforts.
Any Kate Mulgrew fans who haven't seen her in the third season of Mr. Mercedes yet I highly recommend it. She give an absolutely genius performance of a seriously psychotic woman who at the same time is funny as hell. She steals the show whenever she's on screen.
Kate you were an amazing actress on STV and Orange is the new black. (I watched them both of course) thank you for all the hard work and effort you put into your acting career.
Her work showed a rare example of how to be strong but distinctly female. She showed what it meant to be a leader, firm but keep that certain tenderness and consideration.
Star Trek voyager inspired me immensely , especially Janeway . I would watch the intro sequence in awe and the amazing stores I still think about all the time after seeing the episode years ago.
Such an Amazing woman, and my favorite Captain in the entire Star Trek universe. Bravo Kate, Thank You for bringing Captain Janeway to life with such hard work and dedication. In this humble Voyager fan's opinion, your performance was nothing less than perfection!
While Star Trek Voyager is far from my favorite of the shows, I always respected Kate Mulgrew for the professionalism and respect that she brought to the role. She did an outstanding job and is worthy of all the other great Captains in Trek lore.
I am binge watching Voyager now and Janeway is brilliant. So refreshing to have a female role model in a sci-fi show. Kate should be very proud of herself.
If I ever got the opportunity to meet the cast of Voyager, I would want to thank them for all the hard work they put in to contribute to the universe of Star Trek, and that despite how much Voyager is maligned as the worst Star Trek Series, it still holds a special place in my heart to this day. Hell, Voyager was what got me interested in science as a kid. Without Voyager, I probably would never have watched the rest of the Star Trek series. I don't blame the cast members for anything bad to come out of voyager. Instead, I blame the writers and producers. Rick Berman, I'm looking at you.
+ian wulf The worst ST are the stories of the pre Kirk era in that awful preview Enterprise. The Archer character is so like and old movie character despite being acted by Scott Bakula whoI think is worth better roes than that.
Voyager and TNG were my fav ST series. I honestly don't get why some people dislike voyager. I think they just don't realise TNG, DS9 and VOY are different genres. They dislike the genre and blame the series.
+Baluvideo I don't think people liked the change in ship. I wouldn't say that it's not popular or that it's the worst because there are tons of books still being released for Voyager that take place after the series end (I'm starting up "A Pocket Full Of Lies" soon which came out last month). I think it's that people didn't like the fact that it was a different ship, different class, and a different sort of mission. Star Trek with the exception of DS9 has always been a five year mission with Enterprise and I don't think some people liked that it changed with Voyager. I will say that it was popular because it lasted just as long as TNG did which was 7 seasons. Voyager is by far my favorite ST series and to be honest I think there is a group of trekkies just like with any series (Star Wars, DW, etc) that you will never please. It's sort of like Star Wars with the new films. Basically all they did (no spoilers if you haven't seen it) is they remade a New Hope and a whole bunch of people hated it, well Lucas did his own original idea with the prequels and people hated that. No matter what you do within a series that has a strong fanbase like Star Trek or Star Wars; there will always be a group of people who dislike it simply because it's new. All of the Star Trek series have been good except Enterprise. Enterprise is the greatest example of "trying too hard" I have ever seen. Enterprise tried so hard to bring Star Trek out of the future and closer to our reach (just look at the intro which showed space shuttles and rovers) and it failed. To add a bit of salt to the wound the captain was just immensely unlikeable. So I don't think Voyager is massively disliked I just think it's a small amount of "purists" who felt Star Trek should've never changed, but the books that are still being written and released by Kirsten Beyer prove that people still love Voyager.
+Baluvideo Yeah there are tons! It's released by Pocket Books (you can find them at Barnes And Noble they aren't hard to find or pick them up on Amazon for like 3 bucks each) and they started back in 2003 and they are the adventures of the Voyager after the end of the series so Janeway is now Admiral and Chakotay is now Captain of the USS Voyager. The cool thing is that you don't really need to read them in order to understand them since they sort of give you synopsis within conversations in the book. I'm sort of new to being a Trekkie in all honesty. I actually hated Star Trek as a kid (mainly because I didn't understand it, it was too technical for a 10 year old) and made fun of it. Well now that i'm 21 I watch all of them and realize what an idiot I was because they are so cool. I just recently got back into Voyager which I always sort of liked and I love it now absolutely love and adore it. Well on a trip to Barnes and Noble I found out they started continuing the Voyager timeline way back in 2003 and they still are releasing books. Like I said Kirsten Beyer just wrote and released a new one this year! So definitely pick some up they are really good and they are very well written.
For those of you who are ST fans but dislike Voyager, read the comments. That series touched us fans in the similar ways. It wasn't so much about ST, though that was a brilliant franchise to work from, it was about the actors and the characters. Their friendship and their separation from Earth and their longing to get back. There was something about that whole scenario and especially the chemistry of the crew that was held together brilliantly by Mulgrew's talent that caused us fans to love this show. None of your criticisms or nitpicking of the scripts can ever change that for us.
Kate Mulgrew had every right to be proud, her work was awesome as the first female Captain of a Federation Star Ship. You would be surprised, since I'm up here in Alaska with Fishermen, Rough Necks, Miners... I'd ask them who their favorite Star Trek Captain is and most of them said Captain Janeway! More guys, more macho guys than women! I can only guess that Alaska men love women who can take care of business, "Here dear, here's the shotgun, going on the slope for 6 months, don't let let that pesky brown bear eat our dogs, or the children." I know one thing, Alaska men really have a thing for Captain Janeway. LOL
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy and Kate Mulgrew as Janeway are two of the great acting efforts. And I love both shows. Thanks to both of them for the magic. And I'm not even a feminist, I just love quality.
You remind me SOOO much of my mother.. typical redhead and full of that Irish fighting spirit.. my grandfather was born in County Cork and I firmly believe that we are ALL IRISH at heart!!!
I wish she knew how many lives she touched and changed worldwide with Janeway. Voyager was the 1st ST series I got to watch completely 1st episode to last and she is my favourite Capt.
Its really quite incredible when you think about the demands and time commitment of the part, and also where she was in her personal life at the time, even flying around the country to do conventions or press on weekends. Its just such a remarkable story. No hired driver. Just astonishing.
from the way she talks, her body language and mindset, she has become cpt.Janeway for good. Responsibility to society, duty first. Voyager is very unique and special.
I too was born with teeth and strange enough the date of this recording is my birthday, April 13.I grew up watching Star Trek. Watched the first few episodes on my uncle's British made b/w PYE TV. I was just 10 in 1967, I got hooked. Kate Mulgrew was brilliant. She was a sort of a mother hen to her crew and was and possibly is a tough as nails, in a steel in satin kind of way. Love the way her Irish humor kicks in on certain occasions or situations. I hope the Star Trek saga lives on for 50 more years and beyond. RIP Gene Roddenberry, Leonard Nimoy, Deforest Kelly, James Doohan et. al.
Kate is the biggest reason for me why Voyager became my favourite. P.S Coffee BLACK!
Dont forget Tim Russ and his portrait of Tuvok the sass master
There's coffee in that nebula.
Picard liked Earl Grey, Sisko Raktajino, Janeway black coffee. We never knew what Kirk and Spock had for a hot beverage.

Star Trek power.

It must be cool to have Captain Janeway's voice all day everyday.
Kate is one classy lady. She changes lives everyday and Captian Janeway rocks! I recieved the book today and look forward to reading it.
I loved you as a captain you were awesome!!!
I totally love her and captain Janeway!
Love Kate and Cpt Janeway :)
KazgarothUsher yeah, she is hot too!
My favourite Captain. She really was amazing...
Love Captain Janeway! Brilliant! You should be so proud!!
I was never a fan of Janeway as a character. But after seeing this video, I have to say that fandom is sprouting.
That was very nice show...Thank you so much....
I love her so much.
Thank you for working that hard. We enjoyed watching you ❤
Love Kate Mulgrew!
YOU ARE AWESOME KATEEEE
yes it was a HUGE accomplishment! Thank you!
Star Trek was and is one of the greatest television and movie franchises to have a reboot series, live long and prosper, captain Janway
LOL
Well Kate. YOU MADE MY CHILDHOOD.
She made Janeway the most badass captain in Star Trek.
Favourite series
You were/are amazing!
Lady YOU ARE A STAR!
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy and Kate Mulgrew as Janeway are two of the great acting efforts. And I love both shows. Thanks to both of them for the magic.
And I'm not even a feminist, I just love quality.
I am so glad I have had her as a role model in life. She's great!
She was fantastic. Great captain.
i dont know why ..whats in this women i can.t stop looking all this years
she gave us so much
You remind me SOOO much of my mother.. typical redhead and full of that Irish fighting spirit.. my grandfather was born in County Cork and I firmly believe that we are ALL IRISH at heart!!!
And you did an amazing job my lady.
I wish she knew how many lives she touched and changed worldwide with Janeway.
Voyager was the 1st ST series I got to watch completely 1st episode to last and she is my favourite Capt.
Outstanding actress and professional. 'Nuff said.
thank you, i love voyager
RIP Gene Roddenberry, Leonard Nimoy, Deforest Kelly, James Doohan et. al.
Captain Janeway certainly inspired me!
