I really like your work. This pond fits its locations and surroundings, like it was always a part of the property. Great job. I would also do native fish. Koi are beautiful, but native fish can be great too.
Hi Debra! I agree, when designing a pond one of my goals is to have the pond, or any water feature, look like it occurred naturally. Sometimes achieving that is a challenge.
Thanks! Great video! Love the work you do! Amazing... 15k gph via skimmers is un-believable!!!! Perfect amount for that depth and surface area!!!! Most installers would say oh 10k is enough but it's really really not
This was awesome! I have a small red eared slider turtle, and in a year or two, when it gets too large to keep indoors without needing a 100 some odd gallon tank. I plan on making my own pond for it (though nothing nearly as large as the one in the video, I don't even think my yard has the amount of square footage as that pond.)
Amazing pond transformation! Thanks for sharing this awesome video. I will be digging my pond in the Spring. This video confirms the plans I have for my pond (except mine will be 1/4th the size). I was inspired by the rock retaining walls inside the pond backfilled with smaller stones.
Amazing, fantastic job .when you need 6 men to carry the liner you know it's big 😃😃.god only knows how much it cost.if I had the money and the space I would fly you guys over to the UK to do one for me . amazing thanks for posting xx
+Cazee Ponds Thanks Brad! Ha! those fiberglass rocks are still sitting in my yard waiting to be cut up for the dumpster. Thanks for checking out the vid!
All ponds look great when new. Hopefully you added lot of plants and fish to bring it to life. I would love to see how this pond is after couple of years
awesome job. I love how you rock out these ponds. truly amazing. wish more ponds in UK were built like this. bet they can be a big job to clean though.
Hey Lee, thanks for commenting! I love building this way. The cleaning of these type of ponds does not have to be done very often. When they do it is only a big job, because it is a big pond, otherwise they stay pretty clean!
I'm a fan..and the content you put out is amazing....I watch, but don't always comment...but I'm more shy than people would know.but....I am confident with my intuition..and am just elated at your efforts to share your love of Ponding, it shows....it is fun to watch you work. Great video...will be back for sure!
very nice....we need you here in Shelbyville Tn to do some work I have been wanting a pond for some time now....maybe I will have one installed before fall
needs plants! needs lighting! looks a step above original, but not an inviting atmosphere. needs palms, flowers, lilys. ambient lighting, even underwater lighting around the edges. that would really, really make that pond spark!!
That is a fantastic job! Can this pond also be swam in without hurting the liner? How long will this pond typically last before everything has to be pulled back out and the liner replaced? Thanks.
Hi Jason. The pond was not really designed for humans to swim in it, but it is big enough and 3' deep in most of it, so if someone chose to go into it and splash around they certainly could; and its nice filtered water. The liner has a manufacture rated 40 year life expectancy, but they can last longer when covered over and protected with rock and gravel.
That pond is so sick, would love to have another one that size, we had one but snapping turtles kept going in and eating all the fish. Just before we sold the property i noticeded a small group of what looked like trout, i didnt want to move after that.
You should invest in a dingo or MI I skid steer will definitely save you time on moving materials also this would have looked a ton better with some lighting but beautiful pond I want one at my house now lol
+sissy murphy Hey Sissy! Yes the fountains are a permanent part of the design. Fountain heads look great, and they help to oxygenate really well too! Thanks for watching! Mike
Great looking project, not quite sure about actually building in the shelves, I would have kept the depth as the first selves and made it deeper in the center.
i'm trying to get an idea of how much building a pond like this would cost. We have acerage and I REALLY want a pond. How much would you estimate for something similar that is not already dug
Hi Jamie, thanks for reaching out. There is no real standard for pricing on projects like these. If it were truly this type and size of pond you may be looking anywhere from $60K - $100K or more depending on how you approach the project. If you'd like more specific information please feel free to contact me directly and we can get more detailed info. Thanks
I just stopped the video at 5:00. I was expecting at least one bottom drain to be plumbed and for the grading to allow dirt/debris to get to the bottom drain. Any reason why you chose not to include a bottom drain?
Hi Robert, the method of construction that we use does not require the bottom drain, however we do actually have subtle grading for maintenance purposes.
Thanks for the reply Mike. I know you can't go into too much detail here, but considering all those trees, how is the homeowner getting those leaves out of the pond in November? I know you've got the pond recirculating almost once/hour (23K gal/hr of a 26K gal pond), but the skimmers won't be able to keep up in the fall. All in all, it's a beautiful renovation. Do you have a storefront in Summit? I have a friend that lives there. I'd like to visit your store when I visit him. Thanks.
Hi Robert. The pond gets covered during the month of October while leaves are really coming down because there is NO system that will keep up with the leaves. After the deluge of falling leaves the netting is removed and the skimmers do a great job of clearing surface debris during the rest of the year. We are based in Summit, but no storefront, my company has a warehouse that is not open to the public, but you'd be welcome to visit!!
what was the liner and its thickness used in this construction? Was there underlayment? Is there a particular type of liner you suggest for 100sqft type or bigger
Hello Rylee. On this project we used a 45mil EPDM pond liner, it is the industry standard and has a 40 year life expectancy. We used a geotextile underlayment material before liner was installed. For your 100sqft pond I'd still use the 45mil EPDM as liner.
Looking through the comments, I was unable to find any questions in regards to the price that a job of this magnitude would require. With the 26,000 gallons of water, large and small rocks and stones, water feature, man power and hourly rates, etc. How much would a job like this or this particular one cost? Thank you
Hey Kevin. As you guessed I can't say how much this particular project was because I can't disclose how much clients are investing in the projects. However a project like this would be in a range of $40K - $60K.
A good pond doesnt need artificial filtering. A good selection of aquatic and bog Garden plants will do all the filtering and keep it natural and balanced. By the way, what happened to the frog?
i have a serious question and i am also in new jersey, i wanted to know how deep i can dig my pond without requiring a permit or something along those lines. Glassboro nj to be exact.
Can you list the expenses of a project like this in the order of most expensive to least. I'm thinking maybe i can cut down the price by getting some of the materials myself.
The rockwork and labor are the higher cost items, the materials like liner, filters, etc were less of a cost. The labor number does not matter since you are DIY, and labor varies from company to company. Rock was the biggest ticket item because of the large amount we needed, rock pricing can vary wildly depending on where you are located.
Whoa. I love this video, but the weird video effect that was going on needs to not happen. The pond is gorgeous! I'm going to have to watch more of your channel. :D Are you going to go back when they add fish?
+sissy murphy Hey Jersey friend! This pond is about 40'X35'X3' and the wetland filter is about 15'X10'. Thanks for checking out the vid and I'll have more coming! Mike
Hi BarT. I'm not sure what you mean by "big clothing cover". Please give me some more information on your question and I am happy to answer! Thanks for checking out the video.
Hey Edward do you even have the slightest idea of what the bill was on this project? Any idea at all? Please tell me what the bill was that you think I ran through the roof. I'll wait for your next empty statement.... The koi are doing just fine as well.
Of course you can't answer it, because you are making statements and criticisms based on ZERO knowledge of a situation, while accusing me of running up customer's bills. I always look to experts to continue learning, what type of expertise in the pond industry do you hold or base your opinions on? So far I am not finding you helpful, and your "advise" is highly debatable.
Hi Noah. Ponds of this size can easily run $50K+ depending on exactly how the project is handled. Pricing is affected by many variables, and up to $70K would not be unusual.

What a change. Way more functional than before!
Duckweed is such a good barometer of water quality. That green carpet showed just how filthy that water was!
It was a total mess!! Much better now!
I gave you 11 minutes out of my day, a complete stranger as well, and I found this very interesting! Thank you
11 minutes is an awesome commitment! Thank you for watching, thank you for commenting!! All the best to you.
awesome pond, great job
Thanks very much!!
"Really big ASS liner" hahahaha!!!
Love this video Mike. Definitely gave me some ideas for any future pond transformations!!!
+Paramount Ponds Ha! thanks for checking out the vid! Mike
the end result was absolutely stunning
Thank you Edwin!
Great job , I want to see more videos coming , I love pond videos , keep up the great job .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome pond. Especially with the different depths :)
Would have loved to see the kois in there
Cheers from Germany
damn! that camera captured the fabric of space/time being warped. cool
Amazing effects! ha!
Thanks! Great video! Love the work you do! Amazing... 15k gph via skimmers is un-believable!!!! Perfect amount for that depth and surface area!!!! Most installers would say oh 10k is enough but it's really really not

+Dave Dreyer Thanks for checking out the vid Dave! Good luck with the pond, send some video!! Mike
One of the nicest Ive seen. Looks like a 30k water feature when Im sure its no were near that much.
That pond is Awesome ! Great JOB !
Hey Paully thanks!
Amazing, fantastic job .when you need 6 men to carry the liner you know it's big 😃😃.god only knows how much it cost.if I had the money and the space I would fly you guys over to the UK to do one for me . amazing thanks for posting xx
Thanks so much. Let me know when you are ready for your pond!! Cheers!
the back round looked like bad Photoshop it was trippy every time your face or body was on it
its caused by some effect youtube uses to "stabilize" videos, but yes, trippy all the same!
Yes I know I was just comparing good job 👌
The customers that this pond was built for eventually added koi and goldfish and lots of plants
MarKay Beats I thought I was the only one who noticed
MarKay Beats same I was going to say the same thing it's so photoshopped
Amazing work as always Mike. But the look on your face when describing the fiberglass rocks for the water, OMG PRICELESS!!!
+Cazee Ponds Thanks Brad! Ha! those fiberglass rocks are still sitting in my yard waiting to be cut up for the dumpster. Thanks for checking out the vid!
Epic beautiful pond..Kudos
Thanks very much!
All ponds look great when new. Hopefully you added lot of plants and fish to bring it to life.
I would love to see how this pond is after couple of years
Great transformation! Nice work! Mike, maybe do a follow up video of say 1 year later with plants and fish life.
Great job, terrific pond!
Thank you Peter!
No fish. Please revisit when the koi are in.
ThePepperfordk

What a great job. Makes me want to put a pond in. Love your videos:)
Thanks Pejoly! call me when you are ready for that pond!
What a difference, great job guys.
Thanks Dougie!
At least the owner was smart enough to throw in duckweed so it didn't become an algae feast
His head certainly making background jiggly, haha
great job, top quality!
Hey thanks!
very nice....we need you here in Shelbyville Tn to do some work I have been wanting a pond for some time now....maybe I will have one installed before fall
Thanks Denali, we did a great project in Knoxville, TN last fall. Came out awesome, love that TN stone! -Mike
Very nice pond
Thanks Paul!
needs plants! needs lighting! looks a step above original, but not an inviting atmosphere. needs palms, flowers, lilys. ambient lighting, even underwater lighting around the edges. that would really, really make that pond spark!!
Hey Buddy, good ideas! thanks for the feedback
The Aquascape Stacked slate earns would look good to dress up your 3 fountains
That is a fantastic job! Can this pond also be swam in without hurting the liner? How long will this pond typically last before everything has to be pulled back out and the liner replaced? Thanks.
Hi Jason. The pond was not really designed for humans to swim in it, but it is big enough and 3' deep in most of it, so if someone chose to go into it and splash around they certainly could; and its nice filtered water. Thanks for responding. I've been thinking of putting in a backyard pond and you've helped answer some of the questions I've had.
Thanks for watching. Lots of other projects on my channel. Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way. Mike
Anytime Jason!
Nice pond guys , I used to work doing ponds .
Hi, at 4:11 is the reason I click the video...how long that's plastic fabric gonna last?
That pond liner has a 40 year life expectancy when installed correctly.
Nice! Looks great.
Thanks very much!
That pond is so sick, would love to have another one that size, we had one but snapping turtles kept going in and eating all the fish. Just before we sold the property i noticeded a small group of what looked like trout, i didnt want to move after that.
Much nicer than before.
the force is strong with this one, anyone notice how because of his high midichlorian count reality was warped around him?
My midi was high that day for sure! LOL
Nice job u guys worked hard 😉
Yes we did!! thanks for checking out the video.
No problem 😉
Love your work!
+Jim Walloch Thanks Jim! Thanks for checking out the vid! Mike
You should invest in a dingo or MI I skid steer will definitely save you time on moving materials also this would have looked a ton better with some lighting but beautiful pond I want one at my house now lol
Those are great machines! I agree, lighting would have been awesome.
I really like the fountain heads are you going to keep that feature .I have something similar in my pond
+sissy murphy Hey Sissy! Yes the fountains are a permanent part of the design. Fountain heads look great, and they help to oxygenate really well too! Thanks for watching! Mike
Very nice pond, how long did it take to make?
Hello James this project took 7 work days to complete from start to finish. thanks for checking it out!
Great looking project, not quite sure about actually building in the shelves, I would have kept the depth as the first selves and made it deeper in the center.
+Arteolike Hey, thanks for the feedback and checking out the video!
Nice job. Do you know how large the energy consumption is? Just approximately. Greets from Germany ;)
Thanks Achim. The 2 pumps are high efficiency, and probably costs $50.00 month to run them both full time.
Nice job. How long did that take? 3 weeks?
Thanks Clint. This project took about 8 days start to finish. I'm fortunate to have a great and experienced team!
Amazing work
Thank you Mohamad!
4:37 lol look at those trees behind him
noticed that too

Thanks for the feedback George! Have a great pond season!
Me I love watching they build :)
Fantastic job Mike!
Thanks very much!

In theory, yes. However, did you see all of the trees around this pond? You will definitely need to skim the leaves off and maintain the skimmers.
i have a serious question and i am also in new jersey, i wanted to know how deep i can dig my pond without requiring a permit or something along those lines. Glassboro nj to be exact.
beautiful
😚good job man. Just beautyfull
Thank you Victor!
Is it hard to keep gravel clean at the bottom?
Looks great
what kind of geomembrane to use
it is a heavy duty woven geotextile
wooow awesome build man...
thank you Denis!
Very nice work ! I wondered what it cost the owner for you to put in ?
Hello Tamara, I'm happy you enjoyed the video! Projects like this will typically be around $60K and can get alot more expensive easily up to $80K.
Can you list the expenses of a project like this in the order of most expensive to least. I'm thinking maybe i can cut down the price by getting some of the materials myself.

Thanks Naerwyn. Yes, the video effect ( a TH-cam effect btw) is a bit strange. A follow up video will happen at some point.
That is an awesome looking pond!!! What does something like that cost to do?
Please revisit and see Koi
nice work
Great pond! Wonder how much does it cost?
Hello Gan. Projects like this can range in cost pretty widely. This type of project could be from $60K+
How big was the pond and welcome back as I have not seen you on in awhile fellow NJ friend
+sissy murphy Hey Jersey friend! This pond is about 40'X35'X3' and the wetland filter is about 15'X10'. Thanks for checking out the vid and I'll have more coming! Mike
Hey sir?? What the name of big clothing cover in ur pond??
Hi BarT. I'm not sure what you mean by "big clothing cover". Please give me some more information on your question and I am happy to answer! Thanks for checking out the video.
Great pond
Thanks Mike!
Music is a little depressing... But that's one good looking pond, great job boys!
Do you hunt ponds or creatures around the ponds? What's your weapon of choice?
I hunt both, weapon of choice... camera!
im sooo excited that that lil frog in the beginning gets its pond pimped nto stolen.. ha. i love it. . Baby Kiss that Frog .. and Pond! :D
Omg it's beautiful
Thank you Karol!!
Great pond! Looks amazing. How many gallons was it?
+Lights on Evergreen Thanks for commenting! this pond is around 16,000 gallons.
As soon as I get a house, I'm installing a 30k gallon pond... I want one so bad. This was beautiful. How many gallons is this pond?
hey Motoverse! The final gallonage came to about 26,000 gallons, big enough to swim with the fish!
thePondHunter Awesome. Definitely a goal of mine.
Hey Edward do you even have the slightest idea of what the bill was on this project? Any idea at all? Please tell me what the bill was that you think I ran through the roof. I'll wait for your next empty statement.... The koi are doing just fine as well.

whats the black pĺastic that they are using called?
We use 45mil EPDM rubber liner on all of our projects.
was that done with epdm or rpe?
The pond in this video is lined with a .45mil EPDM liner.
very nice i love it
Thank you so much!
Beautiful 😍!!!size?
Hello! this pond is about 60 ft across
what is the basis of geomembrane plastic?
what do you estimate the total cost of this pond build at
Hi Noah. Ponds of this size can easily run $50K+ depending on exactly how the project is handled. Pricing is affected by many variables, and up to $70K would not be unusual.
why was the area surrounding him warping?
It is an effect of some editing done with TH-cam, weird!
Stupendo lago bravissimo 💪🔝🤗👍👏
How much would a pond like this cost.. to hire someone to do this I have about 22×19 space?
Hello Larry. There are too many variables that affect pricing to answer your question without alot more information. I am very happy to help you figure out pricing if you'd like to give me a call 908.277.6000 or email me info@fullserviceaquatics.com
What I'm wondering is how the duckweed got so overgrown when there were koi in the pond the whole time.
There were no koi, no fish at all, prior to the renovation of the pond.
你是怎麼做的呀
Would love this job...are you guys recruting?
Hello Shays. My company is always looking for talent and willing to have a conversation. Send me your info and let's see what develops. -Mike
That’s not a pond, that’s a lake!!! Looks sweet though.
How much does a pond like this run someone, i'd have to guess around 10 grand?
A bit more!
is it going to be the biggest Pond in the world
I think it just might be!! thanks for watching
