Fridge mechanic from Australia here. I love your work! You are coming up with solutions for problems I will never need to solve. I can't get enough.
haha as an aussie i was thinking the same, problems 99% of us have never thought of
Backups to the backup, for the backup, to the backups for the second backup…. Love this guy
When u have money stop suckin.
I think there is a battery missing
Nothing stuns me anymore. Mike has literally thought of everything. This is going to be the most incredible and well thought out house ever built. Period. Impressive.
Not to mention how involved he is in the building of every aspect of this engineering marvel . I'm sure the contractors must be " thrilled " .
As a controls engineer, this has been utterly fascinating watching you build your home and engineer the redundancy. Thank you for bringing us on this journey!
Finally started going to college, for a degree in engineering. Mike Patey’s Videos where the inspiration to start chasing the dreams I’ve always had. Even if I end up working on Elevator’s and not designing for a career, Engineering is where it’s at.
Mike the Walnut cabinets look great and once finished will look awesome.
Two things I will caution you on. When using Partical board material for cabinets especially in wet areas.
One is the partical board has an issue with water when it gets wet, it expands and once wet there is no recovery on the sub structure & surface, it is damaged forever.
The second area of concern is the Base cabinets for the sinks. Any leak in this area are an issue as well. What I do is install FRP on any wet area cabinet weather its a plywood box or Partical board material. If you get a leak, it is generally too late for the damage has been done.
The FRP is available at Home Depot and Lowes. I make (Drywall shims) cardboard patterns using hot melt glue, you make the base panel then cut 6" to 8" tall sides and back around the sides and back. Once glued in place with the FRP glue for a few hours. I then come back & seal the corners using white silicone as well as the top edge of the sides and front edge. The FRP is generally white I believe they do have a tan as well.
In the case of an unintended leak under the sink it will save the cabinet.
He does amazing work.
And when I saw partical board cabinets outside it also amazed me. Couldn't believe I saw that.
This man makes a NASA level project for his shower.
I can't help but watched in awe at the madness, and brilliance of it :)
I dunno how the energy bill will get paid, but in this miserable net zero lunacy - I love it.
Greets from the UK!
Next project for Mike, fusion reactor to power his neighborhood and FBO.
This part of North America is abundant with natural gas. I would imagine this is what the largest expense will be. The house is so overbuilt, most of the electricity isn't as high as one would expect.
The House is probably tapped into a gas source under ground already lol
Mike did say he's got a bunch of solar on the house, so that will help. But I'm sure all the water heating is gas.
I love all Patey projects. At the same time they make me think about how the world may survive us?
Dismissive language like „net zero lunacy“ may allow one or two more generations to ignore their responsibilities - it‘s harder now to be dismissive than it was during our grandparents‘ lifetime.
Many of us would build a house like Mike Patey is building, if we had the means. We are going towards a world, where we will all have the means:
How many monthly incomes did the cheapest pool cost during our grandparents‘ times? I am sure more than the quite decent $500 pool sets we can buy today. The cheapest car today costs less monthly incomes than the cheapest car at the time and can do more than expensive cars could do at the time.
Automation is still dramatically increasing, making everything even more affordable. AI will do its part to make products and services cheaper.
Worldwide average real monthly income has been increasing @2% per year for decades.
Increasing income + cheaper goods = more material consumption -> unsustainable use of resources.
The only solution I see is reducing the population worldwide. Which may be possible, as in most developed countries population only grows through immigration, more and more countries are developing, and today’s kids have the information that church is as much about power as it is about truth. I am deliberately saying church and not religion. But I am being hopeful here.
wow your attention to detail makes my head spin
You’ve got to love it when Mike puts out a video 👍
Unbelievable. This house is not only gorgeous, but functional beyond belief. I'm a tiny bit jealous ;) Great job!
Any concerns about particle board cabinet and sub countertop in an outdoor environment?
So much thought was put into this. Everything has backups. Awesome.
you have literally got everything covered, love it !
That outdoor BBQ area is stunning! Well done Mike!
Mike I absolutely love how you think and plan for 90 steps ahead of anything that could go wrong… I love your videos.., please keep putting the videos out for us to watch…
I forgot to add Oh yea back to work…
Boeing really needs to take you on as a consultant. Amazing work. Over the top and crazy. And I love it!
The perfect way to start my day! Loving the progress!
That was so interesting. Thanks so much for sharing Mike!
What an incredible view from your outdoor kitchen!!
Fantastic home design all the way through! Looking forward to underwater videos of scuba diving in the pool.
It will be Awesome to be looking at snow covered mountains while scuba diving 20 feet underwater in a heated pool.
Wow, the attention to detail, the engineering that was brought to bear here is nothing short of amazing. I am memorized watching this stuff, thanks for sharing Mike, it's awesome!
over engineering the over engineering... AWESOME work Mike, thanks for taking the time to share all of this with the world
Mike "redundant" Patey😊
This is also funny because he's a twin. 😂
@@snymat_68 lol😆😆
Can't get enough of this man, my hero-genius engineer. Absolutely amazing house and am so looking forward to some more airplane builds. Thanks for sharing Mike and it's great to see Ron.
Dude always seems to be living his dream life (aside from the occasional near-death experience). I love to see the energy he puts into every endeavor, and I'm looking forward to watching progress on the airport!
11:25 that looks absolutely amazing! 😮 😊
Everything is amazing! Except I don't like particle board! Don't get it wet!!
Great work. I really like the outdoor shower setup. Brilliant solution.
It looks so good
So can't wait for the tour of all the features once this is completed! A true resort without leaving your home.
Absolutely fantastic.
An aeronautic engineer building houses and explaining the wisdom to this detail is a truly awe inspiring thing to be able to witness.
Thank you very much hugely inspirational
You must be planning some ridiculous parties! 🤣 the comment about the 300pounder jumping up on the counter cracked me up! What an incredible build, i would expect nothing less from Mr Patey. Beautiful!
Feeling inspired to build something wonderful. Thanks for leading the way Mike.
What a beautiful paradise in your beautiful back yard!! It’s just amazing. I watched you and your team build the awesome pool❤❤ Thank you for sharing can’t wait to see more please!!! Love it❤
An amazing house designed by a number one architect on the planet, that in the future will be a model for study by upcoming architects. I am pleasantly jealous. 💪💪💪
It's without a doubt an amazing build. I don't envy your energy bills though.
Lol, I don't think Mike needs to worry about his energy bill.
Prosperty and beauty!
Mike, your family is so blessed to have you as their leader. May god keep blessing you and your related ones!
@CL-ie5fz with you
@CL-ie5fzI doubt if Mr Patey would agree with your assessment.
@CL-ie5fz Never known a Patey to rest on Sunday 🤣
I must be getting a little older because this is just as exciting when a new Dukes of Hazzard came out when I was a kid!!

As if there may ever be a next time...
I would recommend laminating the under side of exposed particleboard with what is called cabinet liner. A thin phenolic sheet that aids in deterring absorption of moisture. Especially helpful in semi-exterior spaces and near water areas.
👍🏽
You're out of this world Mike. The outside shower system got me! Brilliance with engineering, thanks for sharing with us!
The amount of engineering and thought into your house Mike is next level. You’re a genius. Absolutely amazing
Amazing!!! Holy Moly! You are an inspiration for us mortals!
Mike more plane content please! But the house is amazing piece of engineering stamp on earth!
You are just unbelievable ! Master at everything you’re doing ! Imagine if the whole world would be like you !!! There would be no more problem on earth ! You’re awesome and quite an inspiration !!
The complexities of any one of these systems is enough to give the average Engineer nightmares. Not Mike Patey, not only is he not intimidated, he enjoys the challenge of designing each system and integrating multiple systems so that they mesh flawlessly, as do the many backups to each that he designed to protect each system, while complimenting the other systems as well. Very impressive good Sir. 😮
Complex and such quality work that would make even Bob Vila and the This Old House guys head spin. I'd love to see the conversations when his inspectors show up because I bet they look forward to the learning opportunity. 😆
Mike you are amazing and inspirational, you engineer and build for all contingencies with ethical and moral ethos. A True leader and Teacher. Thank you!
"50 layers deep 50 layers wide" that is why we love you Mike!!
Pretty dang cool!
You're my hero Mike ❤ your attention to detail and engineering in everything you do is amazing.. No wonder you're so successful in your endeavors - thanks for sharing these parts of your life 💪🏽
Mike! You are a freaking machine. Absolutely love it all!
Love your show and your OCC on awesomeness but a quick question, is that MDF cabinets outside with a facia coating???
They are a Salt International product. They have a bit of water resistance to them.
The outdoor temperature control reminds me of what you did at your hanger, Mike. And as always, no further compliments could ever say any better how we ALL FEEL about EVERY LAST JOB you put your mind and back into.
YOU ARE in all of your followers minds, and one day the ENTIRE WORLD will realize and recognize you as.......an absolute LIVING LEGEND ! ! ! ! !
Fantastic!!
I can’t believe someone can plan this far into the future for details like this.
Exactly while managing every other aspect of the build.
Just sourcing all of this material for a decent price would take a long time for most. But I guess his deep pockets, good connections and hige experience makes this process easier than it would be for most.
Still insane
@@zteaxon7787 Not just managing every other aspect of the build, but all of the aspects of his other businesses and the new aviation park.. Simply mind-blowing
I love the way your mind works. I would have so much fun hanging out with you.
Mike, Hope you have the time between projects to enjoy your new home with your family.
A simple wow
You are a Genius. We need more pool & house content and updates as thinterior gets finished
Been watching your genius for a few years now and each time you keep amazing me about how you invent and solve problems. Okay back to work!!!
If you plan on using your counter top in the winter, you should have put an electric heating element under your counter top similar to what they use in bathroom floors or your counter top will be an ice cold slab and very uncomfortable to rest your arms on when you eat. .
Everything you have done so far, is amazing!! Great job, Mike!
And I love your attitude - "if it's worth doing, do it to excess!"😂
Good morning from Minnesota!! Fantastic!!
island fire table, mint
With Mike everything always turns out way better than I’m guessing, and with far more redundancy. I would love to build a tiny home, but do it in the spirit of how I think Mike would. It definitely keeps me up at nights, but the thought of it also makes me happy.
From Scrappy's leading edge slats to the pool shower, I'm constantly amazed as to tenacity and skill Mike. Thanks again for allowing us to follow your house build.
The way you planned out all your outdoor plumbing to be in conditioned space is absolutely genius sir.
I just got a TH-cam ad for saving energy while Mike is showing us how he’s blasting heat and AC into the outdoors 😆 Back to work.
I guess you missed the massive solar array, huh?
Always a backup for the backup for the backup. I love this guy
Brilliant!
Mike, this is just awesome. Perfect...
Something that I like is that Mike is actually building his own house. A lot of wealthy people would arrive on site on the last day for the keys.
You are every engineers hero.
One word! PERFECTION!
Wow. Gorgeous and very interesting to see how it was all planned out. Especially the shower tech. Super cool.
Mike with the most respect for you work ; you are absolutly bonkers but in a fantastic way. Wauw it must be so nice to have you as a father, an inspirator that show his Kids just go for it and nothing is inpossible. Man... so fantastic wat you are building with the famillie and the crew. Again respect to all of you. And that you have some big money has nothing to do with it, Big money big dreams so what. The way that you all work on it thats the way to make big things. Salute.
Amazing. Love those walnut veneer units. I built a massive circular reception desk with walnut laminate years ago and it never dates.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely incredible, that BBQ space is what some of my wet dreams are made of
The editing of the video was A+
Beautifully done
This is the most amazing house I’ve ever seen, it just keeps getting better
An incomparable build!
I love how you engineer and do things. Never miss your channel. Godspeed!
I watched in awe from the river trail shown in this video as the house went up. I had no idea that it was a TH-camr and I could've gotten this level of detail in the build! That is an amazing outdoor kitchen and I would not have thought you could keep the water running year round.
Kalamazoo BBQ equipment is consistent with the construction quality of your house.
It’s very expensive, but well worth the cost.
Very nice !
More Mike, I want more!
So amazing great job giving me so many new ideas thank you
Mike, your home is beyond incredible. Definitely a work of art. I have really enjoyed watching your build. Keep up the amazing work. Safe skies my friend 🇺🇸🛩️🤘
the utility bill for this house is probably more than my mortgage
Nice one mike
Mike does it all, it's crazy.
I absolutely love that in the event you have 3 main systems go down or fail, which would take a CATASTROPHIC EVENT, you still know your outdoor shower is frost proof. This guy is the real deal
Goodmorning Mike nice works !
Wow ! This man knows how to Build!!!
Hey Mike, I don’t want to miss your open house that’s for sure 👍
Just amazing!! 👍👍
This house has turned out so amazing. Id love an inside tour.
That turned out very well!! Good job!!
I'm a mechanical engineer, and it is like therapy whaching you design stuff. Love it!
Crazy awesome
