Thank you for the pool! I’m glad it got put to use.
OK, I'll chime in . 1984, I'd been living in my new house for 3 years. It is in a small subdivision that was a cornfield. NO SHADE. I needed something. Found an old pool free if I removed. It took me about 6 hours to put everything in my puckup. Working afternoon shift I'd come home and dig until sunrise then sleep. Just befor heading into work I'd take a quick look at my effort in broad daylight. It took me 2 weeks to dig the hole and manicure the bottom and edge. I bought a 24 foot by 6 foot liner for it. So I dug 2-1/2 feet down 20 feet across and tapered the edge up to the Aluminum pool wall. I hand piled dirt up around the edge to get the height. The finished size was a full 7-1/2 feet deep across 20 feet at the bottom. I figured 20,000 gallons and it took my well 2 full days to fill. For many many years we used that pool. I took the best care using liquid chlorine and muriatic acid. I restored the otiginal diatomaceous earth filter and it worked flawlessly. I ran 10 gallons/ min thru 900 feet of Black plastic tube on the roof of my pole barn for solar heat. It provided +10°F to the temp. Research Cyanuric Acid to keep the chlorine from evaporating so quickly. A solar cover helped keep it warm. Pools are the best investment for fun and relaxing at home. Still trying to talk my daughter and her husband that I live with to get one so my two grand children can enjoy it as well as them. You won't be sorry.
Pools are a horrible investment if you take into account the time and money needed to maintain it. You have to keep it clean and maintain your pH and chemical levels. You have to skim the leaves and clean the filters or else you can kill your pump. I bet your daughter and son-in-law haven't bought the pool yet because no one has the time or inclination to clean and maintain one more thing. Unless you plan on doing it? Or are you offering ideas for how your daughter and her husband should spend their money and their time? And kids have to be watched when in the pool. So they can "invest" in a death trap for their kids and pay for that pleasure.
One of the best investments I ever made was buying a pool. We were the only ones that had one, so of course everyone wanted to be at our house. We told my youngest daughter that was 5, that she had to help get the yard ready and remove the sod… my baby went out there in her rainboots, tank top and shorts dragging her Daddy’s shovel. She wanted that pool! Haha! She didn’t know we had installers coming to do everything. It was the cutest thing to watch her! 😉
They work amazingly. Friend of mine, her pool was always dirty. As soon as she could afford it, she bit the bullet and bought the sand filter. That pool was never dirty again. They are expensive tho, even the cheaper ones, but if your going to go ahead and buy one don't get the cheapest one.
Sweet couple. So happy you enjoy where you put your money! More people should be so content. Have a wonderful summer and a great road to parenthood, you two!
My son and daughter-in-law bought an above ground pool and have enjoyed it for several years. Their kids love it as well as nieces and nephews. We have a lot of hot, steamy days in Iowa and they said they love getting home from work and jumping in the pool. The local firemen will fill the pool in their area.
We had that pool turned into a salt water pool and bought a bigger pump. Built a deck all the way around it. We loved the whole area so much. Pool lasted for years the deck not so much. We were out every day all summer long. I guess around 10 years of use.
Putting a corner tarp or an umbrella somewhere so you can always choose to get out of the Sun but still be in the water that's called having your cake and eating it too 2😅❤
You are going to love having that thing. There's nothing like getting in at the end of a long, hot work day and cooling off. I'm working in my garage and taking a break to watch, and then I will jump into our pool to cook off too.
Draining & Heating A Pool: I had an in-ground pool to empty out for repairs and paint, and later to heat up quickly for a child's 4th birthday party. I bought a submersible pump from Harbor Freight and ran garden hose from it out away from the house. After completing the repair and painting, I filled the pool and needed to heat it faster than just waiting on the Sun. I bought a roll of black plastic irrigation tubing. With the pump at the deep point of the pool and the tubing laid out around the concrete pool deck, I started the water recirculating five days before the party. That deep pool (9 feet at the deep end) was quite comfortably warm the morning of the party and all I had to do was remove the pump, coil up the tubing and put it all away. Total cost was under $75 in 2004.
Use sand under the bottom of your pool also if it didn't come with a cover, might want to get a tarp, it will save a lot of cleaning and save on chemicals.
Yeah a barrier is good for about 1 year. Then organics mix in on top and weeds and grass grow. Should spray the gravel with a pre-emergent, just like the lawn.

My husband wears tight tank tops underneath his long sleeve sun shirts. He says the sweat captured by it cools him off when the sweat was just dripping otherwise. He doesn't wear the tank top if he's not going to sweat, though.
To keep the pool clean, make it slightly brackish, and siphon vacuum the dirt off the bottom once or twice a week. It's better for your health too cuz chlorine is a carcinogen. To make it brackish you can just float a cattle salt lick in it every once in a while. Just keep it brackish enough so you don't see algae growing in it.
i would have left the gravel, and put foam or rubber horse stall pads over top or even i really heavy duty top would have protected your pool from the gravel.. foam board and the rubber mats make a really good surface underneath the pool

Keep your gallon milk jugs, fill with water, and freeze. Throw them in when it gets too hot. When they thaw, throw them back in the freezer. Obviously, plastic jugs are reusable. It works great! I think I used 4 or 5 jugs.

I don't recommend drinking anything other than water while in the pool. If you spill anything it will cause mould to start growing. Of which the only cure is to drain, scrub, and rinse. One or two drinks might not be an issue, but a pool party can turn into a nightmare days later. Especially if people were drinking beer.
Would look awsome if you put some decking steps around the front sides and corner and some decking from the back corner up to both sides of the fence with some room for sitting in deck chairs, to cover all it in.
You'll love it .had mine for 3 years and it'd perfect. You will probably need a bigger pump and buy two chemical clothes and chlorine tables and water softer tables is all you need
STRONGLY recommend that you get an above ground Sand Filter for your pool... The paper filters with never keep up with it. A sand filter can clean the entire pool in no time. Trust me, I had the exact pool, but larger.. and deeper...
11:49 Unfortunately, in the South, you have to wear long pants, etc, in order to avoid being killed by some of the wildlife. Personal experience as we go into our second week of declared heat advisory days.
I know you’re young and strong… however it was concerning to watch you wrangle the soil and garden cloth bundles! Husband could do this. Or do it as a pair. Very good video talents you have!
Very nice.... Ultraviolet light is the worst thing for any plastic liner. Build a deck around it to protect the sides and cover it when not in use. It'll save water, keep dirt out of it, and keep the UV light from ruining your investment.
We have weeds in Texas known as nut grass. They will grow right up underneath your pool lining and poke a hole right through it. I know this from personal experience.
Easiest way to do that kind of staining is to buy a cheap pump up garden spayer - put the stain in - pump it up and Bob's your uncle. They're cheap enough to you don't even have to clean the up after you done. Just throw them away . . .

Don't lift anything heavy. I went into early labor doing that. And no shoveling!

love that stain color. could hardly tell that you even moved the pool lol.
you should get a bigger pool. {you will one day} and invest in a bigger, sand pool pump. enjoy..
I know if feels good to get stuff done, but be careful with the lifting, pushing and big stuff. Take it easy ❤️
OK, I'm 40 seconds in...... and I haven't checked in with you guys in quite a while...... so you just brew my mind!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! You guys are going to be epic parents!! 😊 xXx
I spend $260 on groceries every 2weeks for 2 people and 1 kid. That pool was a great deal!
Always wet before you compact, spray and let it sit and soak in, the water acts as a lubricant and will pack tighter and deeper.
I have the same pool and we use the water filter pump to drain my pool. In a few hours
Have the same pool. Works great.
I used old carpets underneath to keep any punctures from happening.
Just found your channel. Thanks for sharing. We to are in South Alabama!
Oh my goodness, you two are so dang CUTE!❤ New sub here- excited to see your pool build adventure, and future projects!🤗
Nice pool guys!! I love it!!!
Damn. I was only anticipating my wife having cravings for pickles or Taco Bell during pregnancy. I didn't know it could extend to pools! 😭
I know you’re young and strong… however it was concerning to watch you wrangle the soil and garden cloth bundles! Husband could do this. Or do it as a pair. Very good video talents you have!
Pregnancy isn't a disability. I'd hate to tell you all the things I did pregnant. EVERYTHING!!!
I just found ya'll channel and LOVE it. Going back to watch more and look forward to more 🥰
Very nice.... Ultraviolet light is the worst thing for any plastic liner. Build a deck around it to protect the sides and cover it when not in use. It'll save water, keep dirt out of it, and keep the UV light from ruining your investment.
First video I have seen of yours. I liked it & now a subscriber.
He is slapping the pools butt!!
We have weeds in Texas known as nut grass. They will grow right up underneath your pool lining and poke a hole right through it. I know this from personal experience.
Subscribed! Totally invested now😂😂
Easiest way to do that kind of staining is to buy a cheap pump up garden spayer - put the stain in - pump it up and Bob's your uncle. They're cheap enough to you don't even have to clean the up after you done. Just throw them away . . .
No wonder our world is so polluted and full of micro plastics, just throw it away, jeez.
You guys are adorable!
Ya'll need to put some type of shade cover over it. The water will really turn warm.
