The content is always great. I just want to shoutout to whomever is doing the graphics illustrating what Mike is talking about! They’re so smooth, and tell the story without being distracting. And, like everything Mike is involved with, they’re well engineered, and tight!
Mike - Just awesome and as a retired executive project manager from one of the world's largest E&C companies, I am absolutely impressed with your engineering skills and installation work. Have to add that I never thought I would see the word thermocline used with a home swimming pool 😄.
Pretty amazing timing for a full-systems check. I know all about how oddly satisfying plumbing can be. The chemical mixing system is amazing; hope it all works as advertised. The Pool Lives! All your system design detail is paying off. Well Done!
I've been following your house build since the very beginng and its just jaw dropping to see it practically complete. Kudos to you and everyone who had a hand in the amazing build. Side note, I have discovered this is my dream house. One day, I will build something like it!
Mike your home is absolutely beautiful. When will you get back to building airplanes? I an old man but it’s awesome to watch your builds than for sharing Gos bless !!!
Legend Mike! Would love to see the AV setup you have (like your sound systems, TV's, wifi, comms rack). I know all my fellow tech nerds would also love to see it.
It looks great. Thanks for letting us into your new home. Are you planning to have a rigid cover for the water which will: 1) Prevent debris from entering the water, reduce filter use and pump wear 2) Minimise heat loss, running costs and ultimately, pollution 3) Provide a larger floor area for other activities during the many times when the pool is not being used?
Nice job, Mike. Thanks for showing us the execution of this build. We hope you and your family can enjoy it for many years. 🙂👍 Now, how are your aircraft builds progressing?
Your planes and houses are amazing dude. I'm hoping to see you and Mark in Oskosh on Tuesday. I was also at the 2018 and 2021 EAA Airshow in Oskosh looking foward to seeing you both again soon, Keep up the hard work!!!!
I love watching your engineering Mike! Your work ethic and attention to details is epic! Keep it up. I miss the airplane builds but I love seeing the house build. Keep it up! You're an inspiration to many👍
Looking good Mike. If those peristaltic pumps fail, I would replace them with a nice Stenner. You should have a decent amount of run time on the elements. I would also do a second containment if they do fail. Atleast the chemicals will not be all over the place. Some of the pumps have a knockout or extra port for a drain tube, but they never work. I’m not sure injecting the acid and chlorine so close together is ideal if you have the space. I would also inject the acid first. Those checks at the injection points might be a pain along with build up of calcification at the points. They do make injection “quills” which are nice. They put the flow of the chemical directly in the middle of the pipe for better mixing and less buildup. utilize “water treatment” grade materials and mechanical items. It seems like a lot of “pool” grade or labeled products just don’t last or are less superior to what we use in the large scale water and wastewater treatment industry. Love you guys. Keep up the amazing work.
Hi Mike, my ADD usually makes it harder to follow along with a lot of details of things I don't have a whole lot of interest in, or didn't know I did, and/or the technical side of things I don't totally understand and I get lost in the details along the way, then lose interest, but have to say that I believe you are a very good explainer/teacher when describing pretty much everything you do, so it is easy for me, and probably a whole lot of others, to follow and understand what's going on with everything. I appreciate that side of your personality, with not only being very knowledgeable on so many subjects, but also sharing and simplifying the processes so most people can follow along. After watching your channel for years, I've learned you're a planner and don't leave anything to chance, or any rock unturned, that could be hiding a snake under it to come back and bite you later. I can not even imagine, while sitting here right now, the amount of research you had to do on all the different mechanical systems, with all the reminder notes for each, and the structural engineering marvel/s you have created throughout the Patey dream home. With seeing DRACO every time I watch your channel, I often wonder if there are plans in the future to build another, or is SCRAPY the alternate replacement with enhanced features, that best suits your needs? I sure did like DRACO, and it's climb rate off the deck, but if I were in your shoes, not sure I could build another DRACO, that might remind me of the "what ifs" of the day the huge wind guest pushed DRACO so hard to the right, immediately after take off, making straight and level impossible, especially so low to the ground. You all stay safe..."Back to work!!🙂
I'd like to see the pool floor move and how that is all supposed to work. Especially so people can't get trapped underneath. I've had a hard time conceptualizing that.
Lol, what part is hard to conceptualize? Picture a mesh floor that is able to move up and down through the water. There isn’t an easy to access way of getting under that movable platform. If you were swimming and someone started raising the floor it would simply push you up through the water.
@@savage6394 Apparently it's pretty hard to visualize, since your description is way off from what Mike has already described in these videos. The floor he's said he was going to install is a floating solid platform held down by a cable system. It's not installed yet as far as I can see. There's supposed to be a curtain that comes up with it to keep anyone from being able to swim under it from the shallow end when it's all the way up.
@@TomInGulfBreeze That's what I thought he had said. If I remember correctly, it is also supposed to be able to come up out of the water to make solid surface in that area.
mike, have you ever though of making a lifting body/ blended wing plane? been toying in flyout using 2X pusher and pull engines facing in a V, basically an electric plane with thrust vectoring trough linked airduct (after air streams meet). i know electric planes makes little sense BUT i also think if there ever is a plane for it, it ought to be some form of flying wing.
Great, you got the heating part down . . . how about cooling all the stored radiant heat emanating from the surrounding concrete structure in the summer? Do you raise the adjustable floor elevation to an altitude to provide passive adiabatic cooling assistance? Mike, that is not an acceptable answer because your a brilliant engineer! Will we see an R/C Scrappy or Draco with floats take off/lands in Patey Lake? (cockpit view GoPro)
Mike mentioned the frisbee golf course nearby so I did a map search to see his neighborhood. The light curtain would only have been a nuisance to people walking directly across the river and that was enough to stop the stadium project. I like that he took it down but no mention of it is odd.
That pretty cool 😎 you have apower in your house, and even thoe my family's back ground is about airplanes since my Grandfather in 1949 piper cub, I'm still not as rich as you are, But! I'm also prepared for a power outage, I got myself 2 Generac 8251 generators ready to pull out of storage and hook up to my power source, But then we hardly have power outrages here, the last long one we had here was in January 1st 2000 and I was prepared,I had installed an old round LP Gas vent heater and when everyone else was freezing 🥶 for 12 hours we were nice and cozy.
You definitely have a lot of switches/relays/electronics/moving parts etc. going on, and it would be interesting to know the amount of maintenance, parts, and whatnot's that could be required to keep the units running properly, but even that could take a couple of yrs. You may need to hire a 24hr. operator to run the basement. LOL
Amazing setup, but do you plan to use a pool cover? There will be massive heat loss by evaporation if you don’t. It is the main mode of heat loss, this is why all public pools use covers
Hey Mike! Awesome work. Quick question, why not salt water?? It's cheaper, less maintenance and nicer on the skin. Also look into a backwash system! It's a lot easier than cleaning the filters every month. 🤙
My pool equipment is now installed. Just need the rabbit hutch around it to protect it from the elements. The bad - really cannot compete with your installation, the good - somewhat cheaper to run and maintain I suspect 🙂
Fun fact - the Persian Gulf in the middle (the one in front of my house), heats up 1 degree (Celsius) per week from March to August (at its peak)... your does that per Minute.
Mike this is all so amazing but where have you been? Haven’t seen any TH-cam videos lately miss you, brother.

Beautiful house, still waiting to see the movable pool floor.
I really hope we get a whole house tour when he’s finished. I feel like we’ve only seen the outside, pool, basement and part of the kitchen.

Your attention to detail and organization is nothing short of phenomenal!
Would you honestly expect anything less? Make it neat even if noone sees it except yourself!
Mike you are truly a role model, I badly want to see you in person, please plan a trip to India, God like perfection!!!! insanity
Good morning from Minnesota!! So fun to see it all coming together!! Great episode!
🔥🔥🔥 so amazing Mike!!! I love all the attention to detail and additional measures in place! So proactive!!! This house is super dope!
I enjoy ALL of these posts. Engineering, technology, public service and aviation is what this channel is about.
Looking forward to your next video, i hope to see you next weekend at the Spanish Fork airport 👍🏼
Haven’t seen you for a long time, really enjoy your stuff……Roger (Australia)
Pretty amazing timing for a full-systems check. I know all about how oddly satisfying plumbing can be. The chemical mixing system is amazing; hope it all works as advertised. The Pool Lives! All your system design detail is paying off. Well Done!
That place is awesome. Great engineering and planning.

man! your pool pump and filtering system looks like it could handle the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Great video. Can’t wait to see how you built the “floating platform “ for the deep end. Keep up the good work
Wow. That's incredible. I wish I had the technological know-how to do stuff like that.
I really love your redundant and failsafe engineering. Great fun to watch.
Can't wait to see the moving platform in action!
Snow this early! I hope this is a sign we are going to get a good snow fall this year. Skis are already calling my name.
Cmon Mike tell us what's up with the light curtain thing! Looking forward to the next video. Excited to hear about the floating floor system.
Spectacular home. Well done Mike and family
Keep on sharing the correct way to build! Back to work.
Congratulations Mike, what a beautiful house, enjoy you deserve it
I wish I would have seen the original video, curious to know about the light curtain others have mentioned. Such an epic build.

love your videos.... and I hope that we soon see the pool floor go up and down...

Mad at TH-cam for not putting this in my feed the day it was posted.
Liking Mike for posting it when the country needed good and amazing creativity.

love it

Filter system costs more than my entire real estate portfolio 😂😅
Hoping to see some aviation build content soon!!!!!!!!
I love these videos, but damn do i feel broke right now 😂

nice to see that all of your heated areas worked to remove the snow.

Mike, after you finish building awesome planes and awesome houses, you can swing by Boeing and Airbus and help them get their stuff together.
Absolutely stunning!!!!
Looks Amazing!! Well done
Amazing!!!
It looks like you're going to need a full-time facility manager.
Looks amazing, great job!
I’m waiting for the reveal of the below ground helipad that lifts the Best Tugs V-22 Osprey to the surface.
I'd love to see the pool in deck mode!
