And 3 years later I have to say it again, THANK YOU for this no bullshit video. I hate it when people go pet their dog, go get the mail or just start talking about random bullshit. I really appreciate it.
Thank you so much. 5 minutes and the fan was stopped. It's below zero where I am and a dead battery would be pretty uncomfortable. I'll check the voltages once I get to my tools. Saved me a bunch if time, money, and frost bite!
I just replaced the resistor on my 2004 Buick Rainier, with the climate control system. I worked perfectly for one day. I’m not going to spend anymore money on it. I will just use a 40amp fuse and a 40amp switch to straight wire the fan to FULL ON. All this technology is great if you got loads of money to keep it going. But, honestly, old school is the best.
Very efficient use of video time. I appreciate that. Long-winded explanations and inclusions of personal experiences before solutions in such videos are often frustrating. When I'm looking for a video like this, it's usually a matter of relative urgency. I appreciate your balance between brevity and comprehensive explanation.
THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. YOU WERE 💯% RIGHT.... MY 2005 GMC YUKON XL DENALI WAS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING. THE PART WAS $110.00 FROM AUTOZONE BUT THAT EXACTLY FIXED IT IMMEDIATELY. IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO DO EVERYTHING FROM START TO FINISH. THANKS BRO! I HAD 7 MECHANICS LOOK AT MY TRK AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT BUT THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME A HELL OF A LOT MORE THAN $110.00. I'M A FAN NOW👍😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Not posting this everywhere, but possible fix. Hummer with automatic temp control, blower motor staying on after key turned off. Passed wire voltage testing. Had to buy the "upgraded" fan resistor.... Cut and installed the new style plug that fits the new module. Works!
Great video - Fast and to the point. More helpful than the ~stupid~ owners manual. I pulled EVERY fuse (5) in both boxes & 2 relays that had ANYTHING to do with Fan, HVAC, & no go. This AT LEAST gave me a workaround.
Thank you Very much! This happened to me when I got to work today. I work 10 hour day's. So I pulled the fuse for a quick fix. But will be doing this in the morning. Quick & to the point. I will be checking out more of your videos. Yes I am a lady that works on her own Envoy 2005 8 cylinder 4 wheel drive. God Bless you! Keep making videos Please!!!!
Awesome to hear you're taking care of things yourself Rita! Thanks for the lovely comment and good luck on the repair! I greatly appreciate the support
Awesome video. Love that its straight to the point and no b.s. just happened to my 2007 Trailblazer SS right now. I pulled the fuse under the hood to stop it for time being. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. A huge help.
Thanks for vid. Fyi when people measure the purple from red youll see the voltage fluctuate. That lets you know the pulsed width modulation is working coming from the climate controller, therefore its your blower resistor module like he said in the video.
Thanks for this. Mine was fluctuating and not at 0 (just near it). When I increased the fan speed on the controller to max, the voltage was over 12V between these 2 wires, which made me think climate controller was doing what it was supposed to do. I'm going to buy the resistor module, fingers crossed that totally fixes it.
Thank you so much I almost never Comment or like or sub to anyone or anything on TH-cam but you saved my car in middle of night with -30 degrees holy shit now tomorow I’ll take it for repair at least now the fan is not going to run all night omg thank you
So happy to hear the video helped you get out of a jam. Really appreciate you dropping a comment to. Thank you. also It's not a bad repair if you decide to tackle it yourself.
Thank you! I can work with this! I was afraid I would need to disconnect the battery every time I shut it off! Reaching under to connect/disconnect the plug is so much easier/ faster. Really didn't wanna wake up to a dead battery. It's a temporary sort-of-fix until I have the time/funds to fix it completely. But I can still defrost and my battery won't get drained. Good enough for now!
I’m glad I seen your video...I was about to tell my mom to send her GMC” To the dealership” they wanted $90 dollar...just to look at it. Her HVAC Module resister....only needed two screws to remove....I was able to tell they replaced it” because it had yellow junkyard markings....to make a long story short....they installed the wrong one and was installed backwards” water from the dash unit....got into the module. Thanks for the video....saved my mom money.
this is a life saver, so now i know what to look for and where to check, i was going to replace both the dash control and the resistor, i still have to check the fan though, just to make sure that its not burned out
"Short and to the point"! Easy watch and informative! I have a 2003 Acura CL and my fan stays on only when the key is on the "on" position. I was thinking fan and relays but didn't know to check here. I'm new to electrical so if you think you know the issue, please lmk. Otherwise I'll just rewatch this awesome video a few times to understand. Thanks in advance!
Glad the video was helpful and I appreciate the feedback man. It's hard to give you an opinion without seeing the vehicle. A good place to start would be getting a wire diagram for your particular car. That will really help you narrow down which components could be bad. Good luck on it and let me know how you make out. My first thought would be a bad control head if it has Auto climate
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I have a 2007 Trailblazer, and this bizarro air blowing thing just started today...I watched your video and was able to get in to the control module (I didn't even need to pop the wires off) and get in and unplug the blower control! that's as far as I feel comfortable going (not sure if I know how to check the whole voltage thing you talk about) but at least it's not blowing any more!
Thanks for the help, I treid to change mine . Got new one at NAPA. Didn't work. I went to my fav shop McDonalds Auto Repair Hebron Ohio and it was the small black relay that is next to it on Chevy S10 2000. LOL the last shop that looked at it gave me a 2 hr estimate to look in the dash LOL.
No problem. Sorry to hear you had some troubles with it. Great that you have a reputable shop you can go to. It's hard to find decent mechanics these days that work for a decent rates
Ffs. Its the resistor module.. AGAIN. Leave it up to chevy to create a complete piece! Back to the scrap yard tomorrow.. because guess what, its a discontinued part when you have auto climate controls. F*ck.
Thank you, liked the video. Will do the test in the morning, hopefully my battery will be charged up. I didn't have time before I had to be at work to pull the fuse, so came home to a drained battery
Ok did it !!! Blower fan now unplugged But!!! I discovered that if you unplug both ends my engine fan also shut down so thanks for that and you need to change it out to get power to both fan and blower
Good im gonna try this my 2004 gmc envoy did it 2 day wen my suv was off u can hear the blower still running wen I pulled my ground wire 2 my battery it turned off an wen I put my ground wire back on the battery the blower came back on
NOTE: There are two styles of resister part - One for heating systems with automatic controls (as in this tutorial) and one for the models with manual controls. They are not interchangeable. And the prices are WAY different - $35 vs $105. Text lookup under "Blower Motor Resistor" at your local auto parts store but make sure you get the right one for your type of heating system. Also, this video doesn't show the re-assembly, which is not straight forward. None of the current replacement parts are a plug-and-play replacement - they all needed some splicing. Instead of a built in pig-tail plug to the fan and a female plug for the control console wire plug, (with the thin purple line) my replacement unit had a 5-line female plug on the body and came with a snap-on pig tail that had the 2-line connector to the fan, and 3 bare wires (red, black, and purple) that I had to splice onto the existing 3-wire line from the control console. I used quick splice connectors - the thick wires used the blue size, and the purple used a red size. A PITA when working under the dash with the door open on a cold winter afternoon, but not all that difficult. Never-the-less, once all wired up, it solved the problem. Thanks for the video NNKH!
I did the permanent fix for it my blower motor turning off and on intermmitently on my 2003 Silverado. I bought an "add a circuit." I bought the 30 amp one. I pulled the 30 amp fuse out in the cab for the heater/AC hvac system and plugged in the add a circuit that has 2, 30 amp fuses in it with a pig tail coming out of it. I connected 8 ft of 14 gauge electrical wire to it with a butt connector. I ran the other end to the blower motor on the passenger side of the cab. I cut the pig tail off of the blower motor(the blower motor just has 2 wires coming out of it. A red and a black wire. I connected it to the red wire. The black wire on the blower motor I connected an eyelet to it and connected it to one of the glove box hinge screws which was a good ground. I cut the 8 ft piece of wire right above the transfer case shifter and installed a toggle switch from walmart. Now I can turn my blower motor off and on with that toggle switch. I only have high fan speed, but I don't care.
@@zilla5142 awesome to hear. And yeah man for sure. I appreciate you updating me as well. Consider checking out one of my other videos if you want to help support the channel. Thanks!!!
Great video and it helped me diagnose the fan control module was faulty....but my problem came back a week later. Blower doesn't turn off when key is removed. Could I have gotten a bad module or did something else likely cause it to fail again???
Glad you're still doing videos. This one helped my brother out. Thanks a million. Subscribed to your channel for support. Keep up the great contents. 👐🤘
So I got a 2000 blazer LT with this issue I've already replaced the blower module it still stays on. Is there a video on how to test the climate control module? Nice strait too the point video I do like that didn't know how much I'd like nit until I seen yours.
Great video. I replaced the blower motor module and the fan stays on and kills my battery after every rain storm. When it’s dry out… the truck runs great. The mechanic ran a hose over my truck and can’t find a leak. Any ideas?
If I just replaced my blower control module most likely it’s the other part but what are the chances that blow control module failed again in less than a few months
This was hands down the best repair video I have ever watched. No bs just accurate facts and directions.
And 3 years later I have to say it again, THANK YOU for this no bullshit video. I hate it when people go pet their dog, go get the mail or just start talking about random bullshit. I really appreciate it.
Thanks for not making it more difficult than it needed to be. Quick and to the point.
Just saved me a headache. Fixed my problem in about 5 min after watching this quick video. Thx
Thank you so much. 5 minutes and the fan was stopped. It's below zero where I am and a dead battery would be pretty uncomfortable. I'll check the voltages once I get to my tools. Saved me a bunch if time, money, and frost bite!
No problem! Glad you found the video helpful
I needed the info for diagnosing between a bad hvac unit in dash or bad blower motor control module. This made it easy, thanks!
I just replaced the resistor on my 2004 Buick Rainier, with the climate control system.

Mad props to holding a phone while doing everything with basically one hand
by far one of the best auto repair video on youtube great job...... straight to point.
Even a mechanically incompetent chimp like me could fix this problem thanks to your video. I appreciate you doing this greatly.

I appreciate your comment very much, that's exactly what I shoot for on 90% of my videos. Glad the video helped out.

100% to the point no BS and even mentioned the socket sizes.
And a bit of info on the PWM too.

That was my problem, took Tahoe to a car wash and had a bad seal and water got all over it, thanks for the video.
No prob! Glad it helped out
Hi, same thing is happening to my Chevy suburban. I can’t drive my truck after a rain storm or car wash. What seal did you replace?
2 years later and it worked for me. Bumped my head in the process and now I have a knot but the air shut off. So thanks so much for this video.
Finally !!!
This is the definition of tutorial.
Awesome video. Love that its straight to the point and no b.s. just happened to my 2007 Trailblazer SS right now. I pulled the fuse under the hood to stop it for time being. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. A huge help.
I just need to figure out which fuse it is
Fuse 34
When my blower motor got wouldn’t turn off
I found the blower 40 amp fuse under the hood,
When removed it stoped,great video,
This video was exactly what I needed to see, I watched a couple others that were horrible. Thanks man, I need to do this on my 05 GMC Sierra 🇺🇲

Thanks , I will check my truck tomorrow. Love the no BS video.
I want to thank you a bunch followed your steps and fixed tge issue for 100$ compared to who knows what at a shop. Great job

Thank you for this video saved me a lot of searching for what was wrong absolutely awesome
Ok did it !!! Blower fan now unplugged But!!! I discovered that if you unplug both ends my engine fan also shut down so thanks for that and you need to change it out to get power to both fan and blower
Perfect I have the exact situation you explained it to a T. I figured it was the fan module.

Thanks for the heads up.. exactly as described.
i’m having this problem right now. all i can find is manual a/c resistors for 2002 gmc envoy.
Thank you so much you have made my day so much easier, very useful

No problem. Glad it helped out
My 2006 GMC Sierra has this problem. Fan stop when I unplugged from module to fan. Gonna take it from here. Thanks for video
No problem! Thanks for dropping a comment and good luck with the repair. More than likely the module. Very common failure.
LOL. I live in New Orleans, no way can I drive around without AC, this time of year, basically year round.
Yeah I hear you on that! Hot and muggy down there
Changed out module after a little voltage testing...
Yep , I am now ac happy again. Keep up on your helpful videos. Thanx pal
@@zilla5142 awesome to hear. And yeah man for sure. I appreciate you updating me as well. Consider checking out one of my other videos if you want to help support the channel. Thanks!!!

I'm buying a trailblazer with this problem thanks

Love how you get to the point bro thanks
Great overview on this problem - thanks!
No problem!
Glad you're still doing videos. This one helped my brother out. Thanks a million. Subscribed to your channel for support. Keep up the great contents. 👐🤘
Thanks so much man!
Thank you for making this video, major help!! I then replaced mine, and my blower works back to normal.
The plug disconnect at 3.18 could be more in depth, because it's not as simple as pushing up on the bottom and pulling it out.
I wanted to let you your amazing and I love your name because it helped my family very effective and immediately. God bless you

Marvelous and to the point. HUGE help. Subscribed.
Which module did you have to replace?
you rock this is my problem last two days thank you thank you thank you, sir.
No problem Noel!
Helped me out big time.
Thanks very much
No problem! Glad it was helpful
Thank you for the knowledge! If it’s the climate control module, is replacing the whole digital unit the way to only way to fix that?
@ 00:54 I believe that would be pulse width modulation duty cycle. Thanks
Thanks for your to the point but very helpful video.
To the point with explanation, perfect.
Very informative and easy to follow thank you
Great video thanks showed how simple it is
Best video ever
My neighbors 06 Escalade just started doing this last night.
Exactly the info I needed. Thanks
Its -15° c today and this sensor went, I'm fucked with no heat . So thank you very much for the help!!!!!!!
No
Great video. I replaced the blower motor module and the fan stays on and kills my battery after every rain storm. When it’s dry out… the truck runs great. The mechanic ran a hose over my truck and can’t find a leak. Any ideas?

Mine just did this today
Well done and thank you
If I just replaced my blower control module most likely it’s the other part but what are the chances that blow control module failed again in less than a few months
