Not to mention Poco, The Dead and over 500 other live music acts, including Eagles. All before I was 25. Yeah, it's a Henley song, but like Funk #48 and Funk #49 are now official Eagle songs since they play them every show. I mean, Randy Meisner wrote most of "Take It To The Limit" and sung it on the album, but they still do it every show. By the way, Henley didn't really write "Boys Of Summer", although he seems to get some credit for it. It was really written by Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers". Take the lyrics out and you could still imagine this to be "drivin down the road" carefree music... got the top down, the shades on, and just cruising along a highway between the desert and the mountains (look up Winslow, AZ on a map if you're curious). Great music but also classic story telling... music with meaning.

This was their first single and first hit .. and although they had many more hits to follow, IMHO this is still their best song .. Heard it hundreds of times, but it never fails to make me stop what I'm doing, close my eyes, and listen to this all-time classic .. Pure magic !

You want to talk about harmonising by The Eagles... I remember buying my first surround sound system, a Sony 5.1 I saw in the shop demoing the Hell Freezes Over dvd. I told the guy I'd buy it if they gave me the dvd as well. The bonus track of Seven Bridges Road blew me away. Don't know how many times I would go from speaker to speaker because each guys voice came out a different one. You could hear Don thru one and Glen thru another then Timothy etc. And all together their harmony was out of this world 100/100 Fucking amazing. I caught them in concert on that tour. So glad I was able to.

Such wonderful memories for anyone of us who where privileged enough to be carefree teenagers in the 70s!! I still think that being a teen in the 70s was the greatest time in our lives!! We witnessed so much with music and history!!
Love to all hippies still hanging around!! We are mystical creatures from a generation that knew how to have fun!!

Doesn't matter what Eagles song you pick. All will have perfect harmony and musicianship. That's why they are considered one of the best groups there is. Like you said, they could sing about anything and make it sound great!

Another great band I’ve followed since the mid 70’s. Their harmonies are among the best you’ll hear and they sound as good today as ever. Desperado, New York minute, Last resort, there’s too many classics to list. They split for 15 years and said they’d reform when hell freezes over. Listen to their album ‘Hell freezes over’ it’s one of their best! Sadly, Glen Frey who takes lead on this track is no longer with us but his son Deacon has stepped up and the band marches on. I saw them last summer at Wembley Stadium in London and their live set was amazing, well worth the ticket price. The hell raising guitarist Joe Walsh did a solo effort ‘ life’s been good to me so far’. Give it a listen, I think you’ll like it.

You know so much, is that the same Glenn Frey, 'The Heat is on'?. I'm much more pop than rock

wencire one I love pop too. It’s the very same Glen. He and another band member Don Henley both had successful solo careers in the 80’s. Don Henley did one of my favourites’The boys of summer’, give it a go!

Just Like Blue Oyster Cult has "Don't Fear the Reaper " with its classic cowbell, The Eagles "Take It Easy" has that fantastic underlying but noticeable banjo cords that just complete the sound and feeling.
