I get such a kick outta people discovering the Eagles for the first time. I'm 47 now, I was in my early teens when I found my uncle's LP album and decided to give it a try. This was in the 80s and Eagles was already considered classic and before my time. I got a lot of my friends hooked as well and we had a blast watching our elders freaking out that we were loving music from their time. I will always love the Eagles and I wish more of the generation of today would give them a listen, too.

It's actually a loose retelling of the history of the Doolin-Dalton gang. Prior to teaming up with Bill Doolin, Emmett Dalton and his two brothers (Bob and Grat) tried to rob two banks simultaneously in Coffeyville, KS. Bob and Grat were killed. Another brother, Bill, formed another gang with Bill Doolin, both of whom were waiting outside of Coffeyville during the robbery with fresh horses to aid in the getaway.
By the way, the song "Bitter Creek" takes the name of George "Bitter Creek" Newcomb, another member of the Doolin-Dalton gang.
It is also an analogy for the outlaw-type lifestyle lived by rock stars.

I’ve seen so many artists over the years, and The Eagles put on the best concert that I’ve ever seen. Lead singer on this is Don Henley, and he’s the drummer. Glenn Frey sang lead a lot also. Timothy B. Schmidt and Randy Misner sang lead on a few. That’s a bit unusually (I think). I enjoy your reactions so much! Keep doing what your doing.

As a teenager my favorite place to be after climbing out my bedroom window was with my crazy friends in the cemetery down the road at midnight. Tequila and Coors. Borderline boilermakers. My dad was a country preacher and I was convinced if he had found out about that I would have swiftly become a permanent resident of that old cemetery. I hear people say. Enjoy your youth. You're only young once. Well it's a dang good thing we're not young twice. A second time around would have killed my countrified butt door-nail dead.

Desperado is my mother’s favorite Eagles song of all time.
The song was released in 1973 on The Eagles second album, Desperado.
It was the very first song that Don Henley and Glenn Frey wrote together.
That song as well as the entire album was recorded in England.
Linda Ronstadt recorded a cover of the song and Don Henley credited her for popularizing the song who also described her version as poignant and beautiful.
