  • This video documents my repair of my SLK230 door panels that were falling apart.
This series is broken into 4 parts (kind of like the door panel itself)
Part 1: removing the door trim panel
Part 2: Prepping the panel for repair
    Part 3: Rebuilding the panel
Part 4: Re-Installing the panel & me venting on how ridiculous it is that we need to do this.

I did the same for my SLK230 R170 about 2 years ago. As I remember there was a little more 91% isopropyl alcohol used and much much much more cussing at Mercedes. Our process were virtually identical, except that instead of using the black Upol Tiger Seal (for panels) and Weldwood Contact Cement (for brackets), I used black Heavy Duty Double-Sided Mounting Tape (for panels) and 5-Minute Two-Part Epoxy (for brackets) both made by Gorilla Glue. The tape worked fine and continues to hold even in the places where I had to double up to bridge a gap; in retrospect, I would consider using Tiger Seal. However, epoxy was definitely the way to go for securing the plastic brackets.
