This helps a lot, just bought a 2000 slk with 80k miles for 5k, but the door panels are loose and the paint on the center is falling off, I'm thinking I may just sand and wrap the the center console and dash with carbon fiber vinyl, other than that mine is in pretty good shape, it had one owner and he said It sat in his garage for 15 years, and after finally retiring, he cleaned up the engine and gave it a much needed tune up and listed it for sale which he said he had it for sale for another 4 years, then listed it for 5k, and I bought it
I am about to start a full disassembly and repair/paint of the interior of my SLK. The plastic on mine is cracking and falling apart (20K, garage kept). I had to buy a few new parts, most are no longer available. I will be making a video, but it will take time.
I know it sounds like it's the right thing to do to disconnect the battery because of the airbag but I believe it's really not necessary because you're not interfering with the airbag at all in removing the door card.
Thanks for the vids, very helpful. It should be criminal to use so much glued plastic and fiber board on parts that will need to be removed for performing nominal servicing at some point. My question though is with the weather strip mounting to the door/door panel. In your vid, it looked like there were 3 of 4 clips that ran just inside of the window slot, and your weather strip stayed with the door frame. Are those clips supposed to be hanging onto the weather strip? I have a 2002 320, and those clips appear to be totally absent. I don't even see any recesses for them; could some weather strips just be pressed or glued onto the door's window flange? My weather strip stuck to the door frame well enough that it pulled two of the main door panel sub panels off; a rear press board one, and the plastic front one, which you had come off. When I pulled up the weather strip (along with the two panel parts) I didn't see any clips. In some of the other TH-cam vids, I didn't seen clips either . . . could it be a model year thing?
Yeah, it sounds like they made changes to make assembly quicker and easier at the factory, and not care about durability. MB seems to think no matter how much you pay for a car, it should be thrown away after 3 years.

Exactly. And always disconnect the negative!
What about the door only opening from the inside. Vacuum line or what?
This helpt me a lot, thx bro !
I'm glad!👍

Excellent video. Greetings from Chile! :) 🇨🇱
Thank you very much!
What model year(s) of the SLK230 match up with your instructions?
This is a 1998 model. I know there were changes by 2000, but I don't think anything drastic on the doors.
