    Hello friend, as always, your videos are excellent, they are appreciated, very good for those of us who enjoy this. Just a suggestion, now that, luckily, you are uploading the files of these comparisons and reviews to your website, I think it would be good for everyone if you did the same with these older videos; What is really valuable is being able to hear your reviews/comparisons in good quality (each in their own system and audio preferences); In fact, I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a "re-mastering" (recycle this same content, you know what I mean), but with the format of your website; A hug and thank you very much, and let's continue enjoying the sound..... PS. I have never understood, and I am distrustful, that 99% of hardware brands do not allow you to hear what they can really do,... You have a tremendous space to spread that,...

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes 100% this is something I plan to do. It's just a case of finding time. What I plan to do is updated comparisons on all these old hardware vs software comparisons. I've wondered this myself. The only true way to hear this is for someone who has the gear to compare it. That's one major reason I wanted to start this channel. Give people the ability to hear the difference and make a more informed choice if they should buy the hardware or stick with the plugin.

    Greetings,
    Yet another amazing video. I watch your videos often; because you make multiple complicated processes seem very simple and clear. That being said on a previous video you suggested getting a Fusion and placing the Maag Eq on it in Mid/Side and allow it to live there. You said you would add a compressor after the Fusion unit. Now with this Bus + in your chain you appear to have removed the Maag Eq completely from your chain. Do you place more value on what the Bus + can do on insert over the (much loved) Fusion Mid/Sid? The Mid/Side had been one of your biggest selling points for purchasing a Fusion. To help those of use that have followed your channel could you please show your mix bus/mastering process with the following units? Maag EQ, SSL Fusion, SSL Bus +... How would you utilize the units and how would you place them to make an amazing mix bus; then how would you use it for mastering in a chain? Thanks in advance :)

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The bus plus has mid side built in so the only benefit to adding it to the insert is to move it up and down the Fusion chain. As this is just the two units together they are used in a different way compared to mastering applications. I would still advise adding a dual mono EQ to the Fusion mid side insert. Our maag eq4m lives on the Kush Clariphonic MS insert.

  • @MC-kp1hw

    Great review. I really liked the settings you used. Too many YT demos show settings that are way too subtle, almost barely noticeable and you can’t hear the full capability and potential of the features when needed. The biggest features that complement the Bus+ imo are the vintage drive and EQ. Punch and (dare I say it) warmth really sang on that mix from this combo.

  • @roundrobinrecordings
    @roundrobinrecordings 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Id love to hear how that Dynamic eq sounds used in mid side mode with some light expansion on the kick in the mids at round 70 t 100 hz and then on the sides some light expansion around 3k hitting the mid and lower highs of the claps and percussion

      I had the dangerous compressor here a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it. Was surprised how affordable it was for how good it sounded and how well it was built. I don't think the bus plus is going to bring you anything extra to the table you don't already have in the dangerous compressor. The Bus plus would be great but I can't see it replacing your dangerous compressor. If I had £2k to spend on that chain I'd add an EQ like the Maag EQ4m.

      @@leojosefsson4654 I was going to say the dangerous bax but then I thought you have the fusion eq and low roll off. It does a bit more than that but it is quite a subtle EQ. I have one in my main mastering studio and it will never leave. It's an essential mastering tool. Quite a luxury item. Doesn't do a great deal and won't bring huge changes to your chain. • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some can be good, some can be bad. The additional features added to the clones can be beneficial. I can't say I've ever used one I'd consider a true clone of the G bus comp. I wouldn't even say the newer version of the bus plus is a true g bus comp. But then I done think it really claims it is. I feel these companies making g bus style compressors should brand it as a bus comp and not a clone. I own the Wes Audio bus comp and it doesn't claim to be a clone of a SSL bus comp. It's branded as a bus compressor. Has its own sound and style. It is similar to g bus comp, but a sound of its own. I'm not a huge fan of clones, I personally would always prefer the real thing. Unless it's like the UnFairchild 670m mk2 I have, which is a brilliant clone with lots of added features not found on the original fairchild. That's where I think clones benefit, if they can achieve a similar sound with added features not found on the g bus comp.

Have you reviewed the NG ? Last question(Promise ! ha), in what way you felt it "won every time ?"

      @Kevin Martin coming from someone that owns one no there is no bass loss. If you know how too use a bus comp you wouldn't experience bass loss. Additionally you have side chain filter.

    I still have to wonder if your Fusion is faulty. My new one (had it about 3 weeks) does not exhibit the noise you mention with the vintage drive.

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may be that they revised the issue in the later models. Ours were purchased on release day. Although on fusions that are 1 month old the noise is there. It may just be that you aren't pushing loud enough to audible hear it. Try this add a limiter to the output and crank the volume. Then put vintage drive on turn the 2 parameters and look at the noise floor in a frequency analyser. You'll see it's there. They write into the manual that it is part of the design to have this noise. Some may wonder if in fact, yours is faulty?

    • @AndrewCCM
      @AndrewCCM ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AudioAnimalsStudio I’ll give it a shot. My guess is my noise tolerance might be a bit more than yours (I’m not as picky perhaps). Lol
      I do mix hot into the Fusion, but do my limiting afterwards. I’m just happy that I haven’t had enough of a problem to not use it. If it was a prob. I might have to go old school and make in/out drive operation manually. That’s always fun. Thanks for the tremendously quick response and the advice on the Insert.

    I have a fusion and just went for a demo shootout lastnight at a studio running everything through hapi converter which means pretty much none of the gears there couldnt be blinded or lie at all.
    but yea, I wasn't impressed with the Bus+ period.
    It sure is a great VCA compressor for the buck by the name of SSL yes but it was just another good VCA compressor.
    I wasn't impressed with the 4k mode and I wasn't impressed with the dyn eq.
    It doesn't have the typical SSLness as we all expect because I was considering both these units together as a pair so I could get more of SSL out of my mix.

      sounds great though, the combo pairs nicely. But honestly, I bought an ART PRO VLAII and had the entire thing modded and updated tubes and electronics. it sounds like a buttery dream. Yeah theres a difference but not thousands of dollars worth, and for people like most of us that counts.. Also the issues people have been having with Fusion is disconcerting. I suppose if I had a studio and Warner music was feeding me millions I wouldn't hesitate. then again this is probably why the price point is where its at. They should just charge 10 grand for this. they'd probably sell a whole lot more to people like that

      @b.hornetiii.6771 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @nimalsStudio Yes I understand because you're doing mastering for clients also (to enchance, repair ...) not just for your own music; but in general I believe if you've done mix right (side chaning, the right automation process, doing attack release times on the comp just right etc.), you don't need any dynamic eq later anywhere on the frequency spectrum. Unless you want that "in your face" wobbling of the mix or the bass, kick relationship just doesn't work whatever you do. :)

      A 4 band parametric EQ. This way you can add the EQ to the fusion insert and get a mid side EQ option.

    • @AudioAnimalsStudio
      @AudioAnimalsStudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Bus plus is a modern take on the SSL G Bus compressor which is a mix bus compressor. The G Bus comp would be located on the mix bus/Master bus on most SSL consoles. The bus plus can of course be used as a bus compressor but it is designed for the mix bus to glue the mix together. Hence why it is so widely known as the glue. The fusion is a mix bus processor. The Bus plus is a mix bus compressor.
