@@Bracarensis Some Nordic people do travel south during winter, but *most* of us choose to stay at home or travel somewhere else, and it has mostly nothing to do with money (presuming someone lives in poverty because they don't travel abroad is pretty rude tbh). Years ago my father worked in the Canadian Arctic and used to tell us how beautiful the polar nights are. Watching your videos brings those stories to life. On a separate note, just filled up my car $1.50 a litre in Toronto, seems we are paying the same amount 🤣
Cecilia, I just saw your videos for the first time a couple of days ago. Since then I have enjoyed watching several and intend to watch the rest. I have several personal reasons for my special interest. First, like you, my heritage is Swedish. My grandfather came to America as a little boy in 1887 and my family has lived since then in Northern Michigan. My second interest relates to John Longyear for whom Longyearbyen is named. Before traveling to Svalbard and discovering and mining coal, Longyear lived in a large log home along the shore of Lake Superior in Marquette, Michigan. Marquette was fifteen miles from my home town. Following the drowning death of his son, Longyear dismantled his home and moved it by train to Brookline, Massachusetts. Knowing this history, I have been interested for many years in what I always called “Spitsbergen.” I am now over 70, so I don’t think I will ever get there, but just a few years ago we took a trip on the Hurdigruten along the Norwegian coast and I got as far north as North Cape. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is also know for bad winters, so I am familiar with the snow, wind, and cold you have shown in your videos - but thankfully no experience with polar bears! I enjoy your videos tremendously, keep them coming!
I am a person who loves darknes, quiet and cold...snow and ice....listening to you and seeing the images I know i would love it too! Happy Polar nights time...Look forward to future videos...always pleasure ..thank you Cecilia! hug Jana

This brought tears to my eyes. The humanness of celebrating the world you are in and the oddities of it all. We're at a latitude of 50 north, so never have days shorter than 8 hours .
The blue light looks so beautiful! I was on Svalbard in may this year (I was an exchange student in Bergen during that time, so I could still come as a foreigner despite the COVID restrictions) and it was absolutely beautiful. Obviously, we had daylight 24/7 which was a crazy and beautiful experience ... buuut I might have to come back in February to see the civil twilight! Love your videos :)
Lots of a Grim time. Yay! Loved the music in this video. Your polar night shots remind me of my years in Stockholm. Of course not as far north, but still enough north that we had very little sunlight in the winter. I first moved there in July and noticed that the interior of most buildings was white with white or light furnishings. When winter came I realized why!
The scenery is so Breathtaking someday I would love to take a trip to see them in real time. It reminds me of the Breathtaking Glaciers in Alaska we have taken many Cruise to Alaska I would spend so much time on deck breathing in the Beauty around me 😀

Even in the UK short distance journeys in winter deplete your batteries. If your running a diesel you need winter rated fuel or it turns waxy. Anywhere else its snowmobiles .. Snow shoes skis ..or insulated boots and everything else 😁torches and 12 bore Bear pass. Hard to beat natural wool as a mid or under layer in that climate.🥰🤗 Trans polar Native peoples used skins and furs and bird down before manmade materials became available. Pre heaters can be used on some vehicles to stop them from freezing up .. in extreme cold lots of materials can become brittle plastics and even metals... but thats more typical of continental cold places a long way from the sea. Wood though actually tends to become stronger when it freezes. ..

My husky has the same hesitation on non-carpeted floors, but a simple rubber backed mat and he's happy to go where I go.
I found your channel a couple weeks ago and to be honest, I don't generally watch channels that show the day to day life that people live such as going to the grocery store, doing laundry, or walking the dog. This is very different however, because of the environment that you live in.
I too love this channel! You should try another channel, called Trout & Coffee! A lot of fall colors from Massachusetts, Vermont, Northeast areas!

I'm on my 3rd day binge-watching all your videos! Thank you so much for sharing the beauty and love within and around you!
It reminds me of the Breathtaking Glaciers in Alaska we have taken many Cruise to Alaska I would spend so much time on deck breathing in the Beauty around me 😀
Every video I watch of yours it just gets more beautiful there , I actually think I'd like 3 months of dark , the night can be really pretty , Hi again from Toronto 😄, Hi Grim and Christopher !!!!
The colours , the scenery , makes you want to cosy up
I am loving your videos so much. I lived in Iceland for 2 years, so seeing what life is like about 10 degrees of latitude farter north is just fascinating to me! Please keep up the good work!!
I live in Kotzebue AK and love the beauty of arctic winters.we have 1 month of complete darkness and it is as beautiful as the 1 month of polar sun.I love your channel. your cinematography is wonderful.
Hello from Ottawa, we certainly don’t have polar nights but I love the winter for the change of pace and the peace and quiet that winter brings. I just love having four seasons to look forward to :)
When I lived in Florida I traveled to Otawa for 5 days on business in the dead of winter. I was never so cold in my life. However, I did enjoy seeing the huge ice sculptures and watching ice skaters on the frozen canal.

Cecilia, You made me fall in love with Svalbard. I love your attitude toward Svalbard.Thank you for bringing us with you to this remote island.I appreciate you! I can't spend a day, without watching your video. Freaking relaxing.
How beautiful and exciting! And your furry baby is adorable..
I love your optimism and positivity! Thank you :)
This is the most amazing channel on youtube. I started watching last November, you never disapoint. Svalbard is now on my bucket list💖💖💖
Wow, thank you so so much! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
@@CeciliaBlomdahl No thank you, you have open my eyes to travel outside the US and boy oh boy did you raise the bar high. Peace and blessings to the both of you, tell Grim hi💖😂💖
As someone who has to wear thermal underwear and sit in front of a space heater if the temperature goes below 65 degrees (F), and who would never venture above the Mason-Dixon Line, I am so grateful to you for sharing these videos! I am so fascinated! And I am in love with Grim! ❤️❤️❤️
And now Fendris to!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I’ve been watching since your first couple of videos - and I’m so happy every time I see a new upload! 🥰
Yay! Thank you so much for being here! 😍
Just had this video show up on my recommendations. (I think this was due to a recent video I watched about Svalbard on yes theory's channel.)
It looks so beautiful where you live. Looking forward to more videos (and doggo content too). 😊
Oh I wish we had those gas prices down on mainland Norway. Haven't seen it that low at the pump since around year 2000. 19 NOK a liter here atm.
Yeah it's taxfree here so it's cheap! :)
Thought Montréal prices 10.6 NOK a litre atm was expensive. No more complaining from me!
2 euros in south europe. Crazy high.
@@Bracarensis ouch! Hope there is some public transit available
What a beautiful video! You really have a gift. Love the music too! ❤️
I started following you after this started last year. I did get to see the sunfest video. This is so wonderful to watch. Looking forward to seeing your Aurora pictures. I actually had to turn my phone completely off last night. Solar storm issues😂. Sending you, Christofer, & Grim lots of hugs and love ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome! Thank you! 💕💕
it's a magical moment... and getting started with the blue hour...
So beautiful and I love learning about this area of the world. Cost of living is crazy there. Gas in California is $4.50 and we are freaking out. Love your vlogs
With only 30 miles of roads in Longyearbyen (and no roads further than that) they probably don’t use much fuel!
@@glennk.7348
Proportionately I would imagine they use more...just getting a vehicle thats outdoors in that climate cleared of ice and snow requires a lot of warming up...also you need to power the electrical system up more as you are only travelling slowly over short distances.
Hard to beat natural wool as a mid or under layer in that climate.🥰🤗
Trans polar Native peoples used skins and furs and bird down before manmade materials became available.
Pre heaters can be used on some vehicles to stop them from freezing up .. in extreme cold lots of materials can become brittle plastics and even metals... but thats more typical of continental cold places a long way from the sea.
Wood though actually tends to become stronger when it freezes. ..
Assuming that's a us gallon? Uk its £1.48 per litre of diesel at the moment @4.5litres to a UK gallon petrols also at record highs.
Those opening pink blue sky is stunning. If it is me right now watching those morning sky I'm surely would be starring at it forever. Your morning view is on different level.💗💗💗
Grim being afraid of the floors will never stop being funny to me 😂
Amazing… the colours are magnificent. Just looked at a webcam in Tromsø Norway and the sun is barely above the horizon now. Their polar night begins in a couple of weeks. Enjoy!
Cecilia thanks ,exactly I was saying to post these types of videos regarding polar night. Hope in next few months you will post more polar night related videos. It's a sheer pleasure for the viewers to see this beauty of nature through your eyes. Keep these types of videos coming. All the best 👍👍👍👍👍
I will post tons of videos throughout the polar night so you can experience it with me! 😊😊😊
@@CeciliaBlomdahl thanks and i am really looking forward to this.
This is literally my dream... Once I am done with my studies I must go Svalbard to visit it! It's crazy how beautiful nature is there
With the increase in solar flares and explosions going on right now, this might be a really stellar year for northern lights !
There where some visible in Germany, this year already, we never get them!
I've been twice to Svalbard, in April 1999 and in February 2001. Had long snowmobile tours to Barentsburg, Svea and to the East Coast. The light in February was fantastic, but I see that also October is so wonderful... thanks for this beautiful video.
I am a new subscriber from Melbourne and have been bingeing on your videos, I really enjoy and appreciate the peek into your life and look forward to seeing what you get upto throughout the long polar night! Hi Grimm!
Awesome! Thank you! 😍😍
I'm from Melbourne too 😊 It blew my mind when I realised we're twice as close to the equator as Longyearbyen!
So magical, I have no words. Your videos are a treasure and such a pleasure to watch you, you can say “beautiful” a billion times!! This video is so beautiful and the music, love the lighting and color changes throughout the day. Thank you! ❤️
As I prepare for winter here in Illinois, I'm exited to experience yet another with you. Somehow your winter is so much more entertaining than mine. Here's to the next season!
Hi Cecelia. Your channel is amazing and your photography and videography is incredible. I love anything arctic. Your channel is the best i’ve found. Currently I live in Virginia in America. I hope you continue this channel and the epic content you provide.
Love your channel! It gives me some perspective of what life must be like all the way up North! Love from Brazil xx
Glad you enjoy it!
I live in the north of Sweden (Luleå).
I'm only here for the third winter and polar nights are not a problem for me at all. I've read a lot about people being depressed at the time but I wouldn't agree. I agree with you that they definitely have their beauty.
I guess we're all different. Mediterranean winters are too dark for me with the sun setting at around 4 pm. I couldn't even imagine it being dark for a couple of months, I would want to move within two days lol
Thank you for sharing this special moment. The colors are amazing!😳
Glad you enjoyed it! 😍
I’m so grateful that people like you share these views, as I’m never likely see them irl.
Its all just beautiful. Yey Cecilia and Grim. 💐💕🇬🇧
It really is! 💕
Beautiful sky! Always wonderful to get a video from you. Grim and Fenris are so adorable! Thank you Cecilia!
I found your channel last week and love it! I'm learning so much - I appreciate you posting these pieces of your life for us. Just a suggestion: Grim will be happier if you can put a little anti-slip mat on that step to the door. My husky has the same hesitation on non-carpeted floors, but a simple rubber backed mat and he's happy to go where I go.
The color of the glacier is incredible!!!
This is soooo beautiful! 💙 And I'm always crying around because it's getting dark in Germany at 4 PM in wintertime. 😅
and where i am at teh solstice its sunset at like 4:30 lol. in the summer its 8:45
I found your channel a couple weeks ago and to be honest, I don't generally watch channels that show the day to day life that people live such as going to the grocery store, doing laundry, or walking the dog. This is very different however, because of the environment that you live in. I have long had a fascination with the Arctic and have wondered what it would be like to live there and your videos take me there. I love seeing your photos and videos - it's almost hard to believe how beautiful it is. I've watched a few of the videos multiple times because it's just breathtaking. And I absolutely adore Grim - he's the best.
I love all the music and songs you add into your video’s 🌈
Yeey, I'm so glad! I spend a lot of time choosing it 😍😍
Do you know the title of the song playing in the background?
Your channel popped up a while ago and I was immediately and totally addicted...watched all your videos (2 x ). Here in South Africa 🇿🇦 we are sitting in 33 degrees Celsius and for me who loves dark cold stormy weather I would love to be where you are...so magically beautiful ! Hi to Chris and the gorgeous fluffbaby Grim 💘
