Edgar Wright deserves some kind of humanitarian award for shining a light on Sparks. I don't know HOW I'd never heard of them. Since the announcement of "The Sparks Brothers" documentary, I've been trying to listen to every Sparks song I can find. So far, none of them are familiar to me, but most of them are fantastic. (A few are just "good". 😉) So Mr. Wright has opened a whole new segment of music for me to enjoy. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this boat.
100% agree and same. I’ve never heard of them and I was mind blown that they’ve been making new music for the last 50 years which is insane. The documentary I put on my top ten of 2021
As a person that listen to glam rock and Kinks A LOT, it's baffling how Spotify or TH-cam never recommended them to me before. Unfortunately I had never read about them or heard them on the radio or tv here in Brazil or friends never mentioned them to me, I was the one always digging for old songs on my own. Then FINALLY Spotify put Amateur Hour to play after an album I was hearing a few years ago and my mind was blown. I could not believe a song that was just my exact number never got to me before. Finally it did.

To the many people who weren't aware of Sparks is due to their lack of radio exposure (at least in the U.S.). Many older fans discovered them on TV in the 70s; ABC In Concert & Don Kirshner's Rock Concert both had them on.
Still haven’t seen the documentary yet, but like others, I was entirely unfamiliar with Sparks. However, it’s kind of a joy to go thru a band’s entire catalogue for the first time. I just finished listening to the Annette soundtrack today (haven’t seen that either!) after starting with Halfnelson a few weeks ago; they really have an incredibly vast and varied repertoire and I’ve been especially stunned at how good the last few albums have been in particular. Lots of love and respect for these guys!
Was it the creamy, sweet kind of coleslaw with mayonnaise that can be found everywhere? If so, yeah, that was weird. 😉 You should have taken him some of the vinegar-based (no mayo) Carolina coleslaw. Now THAT would be epic.

Sparks fan of 40+years.... Most underrated band of all time so glad they're finally getting the recognition they so much deserve
That's the most laughter from Ron I've ever seen! ♡♡♡
Hearing Russell mention Waterloo Sunset gives me very pleasant shivers.

(Where did the time go? ☹️)
Ron was my crush, brought him home made by granny cole slaw. I was so weird.
