Brought a 425 driver head, £170, shaft tenesi thing... £40.... 9 degree lofted up to 10.5 still seems a bit of a low ball flight, but sooo much more forgiving than the G series driver... but Simon... i'm coming for a fitting and a lesson soon if that's all good..??
I agree with Hovland. I am reshafting my Taylormade SLDRs because I got em cheap back in C19 and I love em. New additions to the bag doesn't always work. And I agree with anyone who test the new and goes back to the old.
Sldrs are so underrated i never see anybody talk about them. I use a 4i as my driving iron its very forgiving and I can get it out to 260 off the tee. I'm only on my third year playing so I feel that speaks on their forgiveness. Closest I've swung was the wilson d9 forged irons.
@@juliomac8497 260 yards? WHAT ARE YOU EATING? Thats my 2 iron carry! Gimme some. SLDRs are so forgiving and now I have my Project X 6.5LZ in them they are lasers for me
@@mikewilliams1479 i forgot to mention the slder has a graphite shaft, it really helps me swing faster and whip it. I had a ping crossover 3i that was the sane way. I'd suggest a driving/utility iron for those skinny fairways.
@@juliomac8497 I play a TaylorMade SIM UDI 2 iron with a Project X Hzduz Red 6.5 90g still that's a 260 carry club. Roll depends on course can be another 20 yards. I love it for all courses I play. To be honest - its made my 3 wood a none use club.
I remember way back Lee Janzen being put under pressure to change to the Taylor Made bubble shaft. He hated it and stuck to his guns/old gear and did rather well with them. Darren Clark had no sponsorship, didn't want it. He had a bag full of mix and match/it works for me I'm not changing. Althought after his Open win I do believe he took the money being pressed into his hand.
I'm still gaming an original Ping Eye 2 Sand wedge. I've never found anything better. Also using the G425 Max driver and I'm quite happy with it, long and forgiving.
They go with the last year stuff because this year new stuff can be hit or miss or not good even, the one year gap has the most tech and reliability compared to something brand new. They also may have tweaked things wrong with the previous years clubs while still working on groundbreaking this year's new ones with taking the next year to improve them
It's simple, Simon (groan!!!). It's what works for him! You've always said that 5 year old irons are little different to the current product. VH is the proof of this! And, yes, before you ask, the 5 year old £41 driver is still in the bag, and still performing magnificently!!!!
@@SASGolf even better thanks to my lesson. Baby draws are the order of the day. I've played golf for 54 years, no-one has ever bothered to adjust my shoulders. You did and the difference is amazing! Many thanks, I'll be back!!!!
I know the cameron putters are pricey...and i said i would never pay that but after getting a smoking deal on a newport2.5 from a good friend of mine .......well lets just say its never leaving the bag ....yes people they are that good .....
The g425 sounds god awful…. I borrowed the one belonging to the guy in the local pro shop a few months back and yuck ….. I must admit it was stupid easy to hit though
I play those same ping i210 ironsz they are brilliant, very forgiving and also shapeable
*Looks as shoes* WHAT'RE THOSEEE!!!!!! Oh Vine, we all miss you

Love my PLD putter

The only thing that puts my off ping irons is the font they use in the numbers. For some reason i just don't like the looks of it. 🤷
Lmfao
Im just the opposite, i game those same irons from 2014, i love the font

It ain’t the arrow, it’s the archer.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
60* bent weak?
well the score is what counts. pun intended
That driver looks so short
