    Good job. I love the makeup brush tip. Thanks

    Aha! I’m a painter, and I can see how hog bristles from an old bristle brush would work quite well. Nice tie.
    Oh, and trout don’t ‘eat’ a fly. They aim to, but their plans are high jacked by the angler. Fish ‘take’ a fly.

      Thanks Larry, as long as your brush fibres are very thin and soft like the make up brush they will work 👍🎣🐟

      I can see your point. Fibers from a hair brush would be more suitable.@@alecharveyfishingandflytying

    Enjoyed the video. Thank you. I’ll have to give this one a go during the upcoming winter months and report back. Cheers. James

    What? No mascara just above the eye.....pulling your leg about the soft make up brush haha.
    I really like the way you promote using the small fly, if more people tried them they would definitely catch more fish under certain conditions.
    Great film as always.

      I only use the mascara at weekends Lee 🤣
      Cheers for the positive comments 👍 🎣🐟

      Thank you Clive ,that's much appreciated.
      Please share the channel with your pals , the varnish I use is the Veniards "cellire " clear .
      The UV resin is one I get from a local shop " The fly tying den " I have used it for many years now and had no problems at all.
      Have a good Christmas and New year 🎣🐟

    I am going to look into the make up brush as an option. I did some quick research, make sure the brush is natural and not synthetic, the cheap ones are likely synthetic. These might not be biodegradable and be polluting the water. They can be made with nylon.

      I think the few fibres as a tail is not a great worry Eddie, you have many different materials and beads , wire and things in many modern flies 👍🎣🐟

    I get my brushes at the dollar store! Between make-up brushes, paint brushes and craft brushes you can get any color you want!

      Definitely Bob , cheap and make great tails in different colours 👍🎣🐟

    I don't often fish Thrunton or Chatton, and my last session there a few weeks ago was cold, only took one fish a lovely angry Rainbow about 5lb on a Deer hair Bibio. What patterns would you suggest I try Alec ? Im not there to fill a bag with fish, just improve my catch rate. Cheers.

      Iban the cold weather is now with us and there are less naturals about , so now is the time for mini lures , worms , zonkers .
      Also static fishing using an indicator with a blob or cheese minnow under it works well.
      Diawbacks and cormorants will still put fish in the net if you want a more natural approach 👍🎣🐟

    Running the thread under the tail to lift it up, might be good.

    Do you still use a tungsten bead for fishing it straight line style? I’m guessing it would hit the deck pretty quickly

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I do Steven, some of the lakes I fish are up to 20ft deep , if you fish shallow lakes down size the bead 👍🎣🐟

  • @carlhughes9584
    @carlhughes9584 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is this a stillwater or river fly? As it looks just like a grayling nymph and you used a pretty heavy large bead.......I also use grayling nymphs for stillwater stocked trout

    • @alecharveyfishingandflytying
      @alecharveyfishingandflytying  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use it on still waters Johnathon but I am sure it will fish l well on rivers in different weights and sizes, trout love it 👍🎣🐟

    • @carlhughes9584
      @carlhughes9584 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alecharveyfishingandflytying So why such a large tungsten bead then and a jig hook? This is basically a grayling nymph.
