I always enjoy your videos Alec, you have an infectious attitude, keep them coming mate,aw the best..👍
Thank you Jimmy , that's much appreciated , pleased you enjoy them .👍🎣🐟
Cracking video as always Alex. Where can a get the plastic tube rod carrier that you’ve got could really do with one then.
Thanks William, they are made by Bill bonas , they are really good and not too expensive , I've had mine for some time now and can't fault it .👍🎣🐟
Got him Alex thanks
Great video Alec, I know a lot of people don't like using an indicator, but it's great for giving your arms a rest , when you've been casting lures all day. I tied a similar minnow recently using stretched mop material in lime green was a killer 👍
Cheers Sean , as you will see on my videos, I love to use many methods to catch fish . you're right , some angler don't like using the indicator (Bung ), but it's a very productive way to present your fly at a constant depth, also as you say, it's great for older anglers who find it hard to cast constantly all day . As long as we all enjoy our fishing, then it's happy days 👍🎣🐟
👌🎣🎣🎣
Cheers 👍🎣🐟
Spot no the 👌🎣🎣🎣
👍🎣🐟
Enjoyed the video. !! Very helpful for the winter months. Tight lines to all.
Thank you, that's much appreciated 👍🎣🐟
I have 2 methods too......Method 1, a wee dram....if that fails , Method 2 a bigger dram......if Method 2 fails,, repeat the sequence
🤣🤣🤣 That could definitely work.
Nice one , looks a great fishery, thanks for sharing your tips , I’m trying to get back into fly fishing again ( bit late in the year mind ) , looking forward to getting up there and hopefully meet you at rod and tackle one day mate , thanks , atb Deka 👍🏻
Thanks Deka , winter is really good during the winter months as long as you can cope with the cold . The trout love the cold water and put up a great fight .Hope to catch up 👍🎣🐟
Cracking video Alec, nothing like it when you find a fly/method that's working. 🎣
Thanks Alex , it's always nice to get your line pulled , tug is the drug , so they say .👍🎣🐟
brilliant reply to the brownie question , love it , well done on another great vid , I feel your pain mate I am 75 now and still trying hard to fish the river , I fish the local lakes around peterlee as well now .some good fish around in the right conditions . keep it up mate .
Cheers, Kieth, we all fish for enjoyment, so we all choose where to fish and how to fish . As we get older, it definitely gets harder physically, but the pure enjoyment of fishing and catching a fish is a special thing .👍🎣🐟
That first fish i shit myself you nearly hooked me aswell man 😂
so did I 🤣🤣🤣
Nice video Alec hope to get down to chatton March or April
Try to get in April, it's great on buzzers and dries 👍🎣🐟
Excellent video Alec and good fishing as usual.
Cheers George 👍
Do you ever do any proper flyfishing? As for wild trout in rivers or lochs?
No , i will leave that to you , enjoy 👍🎣🐟
Great video Alec.
Thanks very much John👍🎣🐟
Thanks for sharing Alec.. It looks a cracking fishery. Keep the videos coming Bro. 🙂👍🐳🐳
Thanks Stuart , it's a great fishery , 3 good fly lakes, and a bait one , Well worth a visit. 👍🎣🐟
@alecharveyfishingandflytying I'm moving away from the salmon, and getting back into the trout now. I think many of us are , given the state of the rivers. So much has changed in the world of stillwater trout over the last 10 years. I recently found out what a FAB was! 🤣
🎣🎣🎣👍🏻
Cheers Allan 👍🎣🐟
Good Video, Look after your self 👍
Thank you , very much appreciated 👍🎣🐟
I love the simplicity of your flies! Easy, Fun And fish catching machines Well Done!
Thank you , that lovely comment is very much appreciated 👍🎣🐟
Awesome!! What length of 5wt rod are you using?
It's a while ago, Dan , but I think it was 9ft 6 inches.👍🎣🐟
Hi Alec love your content would you be interested in the future to visit our fishery in Colne Lancashire we are a small club with 2 res
Hi Paul, that sounds it could be good 👍
That’s great will get in touch at the beginning of new season cheers
What is the best way to contact you cheers
Brill fly what make is your uv light
I got them many years ago David, they were off ebay and were from China, they were about £3 each and still working fine 😂
Hi Alec, Love watching all your video’s. Going to tie the 1st buzzer withe Jig Hook and Tungsten Bead… Have never used either products. Can you please clarify whether or not the Tungsten Bead is the normal type or is it a Slotted type bead? Thanking you……l👍👍👍
Cheers Harry , the bead is a slotted tungsten 👍🎣🐟
@ Many thanks Alec…..Will tie and give them a go!, Tight Lines….👍👍👍
I’ve never heard of a cormorant fly before seeing your vids (I’m in the US). Do they all have a black marabou wing?
They are mainly tied with a black marabou wing , you can also use black rabbit fur as a wing , both materials give the fly great movement in the water .👍🎣🐟
Bit like a flesh fly alec. And they do catch a lot of fish
They do Paul 👍🎣🐟
Nice job
Thank you Sean 👍🎣🐟
Alec is the bead yellow or chartreuse? I can seem to find normal yellow
It's yellow 👍🎣🐟
I think that would work as a streamer for brown trout on the rivers as well.
It probably would , you may need to add a tungsten bead if there is a fast flow on your river.🎣🐟
@@geoffblakesley2211 I designed this fly it was designed from Alaskan streamers longer flash in the tail. also 1 strand Flexi floss either side white clear glass bead on each for wake sorted tight lines designed in 🏴 tried and tested over a year and a half 👍
What UV resin are you using with a brush? I need some of that.
It's what I have used for years now , I get it from THE FLY TYING DEN If you go to their website you will be able to order some 👍🎣🐟
Nice fly I'm going to have to try that one
Cheers Lora, it's definitely worth it. They also work great in different colour combinations.👍🎣🐟
Thanks for sharing this fly. It has a great fish attracting look to it. Im thinking of tan, brown, black variations. God Bless n Fish on!
Thanks Richard, they are good in lots of different colour combinations, black ,white , natural, brown, chartreuse, pink . Fill your boots 👍🎣🐟
Alec, thanks for that, great information.
Cheers Mike , that's much appreciated 👍🎣🎣
I designed this fly in 2015 using design's from streamer fly's from Alaska. I called it the Betty great vid tight lines
Cheers Jim , it's a great trout catcher 🎣🐟
@@alecharveyfishingandflytying it is a good fly works a bit better with more off a flash in the tail buddy 👍
Add Flexi floss legs with glass beads one either side👍
Patterns seem to change in a Chinese whispers sort of way it’s great that this will be here for years and years to come!
The best worm patterns ever created , competition results over the years prove that fact.
Great video. I learnt a lot. I have a RIO 6ft midge tip line. What length of tippet would you use at THrunton. I will say hello next time I see you there.
Thank you, Geoff, would use a tippet length of about 14ft with one lure type fly , or 2 nymphs 7ft apart. If you see me fishing , please say hello 👍🎣🐟
Cracking video yet again Alec. Great stuff, I'm looking forward to getting back up to Thrunton soon 🎣
Cheers Alex , the water temperatures are dropping on our local waters and the fish are feeding well now on various methods 👍🎣🎣
Great stuff Alec,I always enjoy watching your videos.Keep them coming…👍
Thanks Jimmy for watching them 👍🎣🐟
Morning Alec, could you point me in the right direction on purchasing a rod holder please, after many a year not fly fishing regular, I’m going to get back into it after the Christmas and new year, that’s a game changing bit of kit, keeps everything nice a clean, easy to carry, having 2/3 rods set up is the way al be going rather than changing spools when it’s choppy in the boat/cold/lashing it down in rain.
They are a smashing bit of kit , the gentleman who makes and sells them is called Bill Bonas, he is on Facebook, they are not too expensive expensive , which is always good 👍🎣🐟
Throughly enjoyed the video alec. Keep them coming. 👍
Thanks John, cheers for your positive feedback, it's much appreciated 👍🎣🐟
Excellent video. How long do you usually wait before making a change? Do you make changes in any particular order.. patterns, lines, location?
It always helps if you have some knowledge of the water your fishing , but an intermediate line is a good starting line , you can cover depths from the surface down over , obviously if you see fish rising you can target them with a floating line and dries , a midgetip is a good line for nymphs and washing line method with various flies , Di3 to Di7 is for deeper waters where the fish are feeding deep down , especially in the hot summer months. 👍🎣🐟
Fantastic Alec
Cheers 👍🎣🐟
Hello Alec, The rod carrier you use, did you buy it or make it yourself, if bought can you let me know who sells/manufactures them?
They are made by one of the old codger called Bill Bonas , they are really good and a very reasonable price, you can contact him on Facebook. 👍🎣🐟
Another really good video Alec. Good angling, great photography and excellent advice.
Thanks George , that's much appreciated 👍🎣🐟
Hi Alec I don’t tie my own flys, do you have anyone that sells your pattern?
Send me a pm Stanley 👍🎣🐟
Really enjoy your fishing vids 😊 Note to self, try more methods and move more. Thanks for sharing Alec
Thank you Stanley 👍🎣🐟
Will you be fishing with Peter again Alec? And can you tie your fluff cat please?
We will be soon Trevor, I will tie it 👍🎣🐟
Hi Alec your fishing videos and fly lnfmation is second to none, 🎣👍
Thank you Paul , that very much appreciated 👍🎣🐟
hi alec do you sell the nothing fly if so where can i get them
Send me a pm please scot.👍🎣🐟
Alec, great video, love fishing the Daddies, where can you get the ‘MINI DADDIES’ ? Thanx in advance.
Wayne , send me a pm .🎣🐟
Alex, brilliant. Orange daddy is my bogey fly. Caught loads on your mini brown and tan daddies.
That's strange Robert, some days its the one the fish absolutely smash , but that why I tie the brown , tan and black mini daddies and give the fish what they want that day 👍🎣🐟
