@@AudiophileHeaven I tried ef499 with he1000se and it’s not as holographic and expansive as I thought it would be, is that also your same experience? Would ef500 be any different?
@GoldFus1on yes, ef500 would he wonder sounding, but generally both ef400 and ef600 sound wider and more holographic . For a good sound around the price point, check out Burton playmate series ,

Hi, thanks for the detailed review! Just purchased EF499 and I do not get any sound via the 6.35 headphone output; tried 2 different headphones but no sound at all. Am I missing something?
Hm.. This should not happen, please contact HIFIMAN, maybe you need a replacement. Does the balanced output work?
Make sure tyo select the USB or Coaxial correctly, based on the inpout you're using

Yep, sounds like a device problem. What is more wierd, is that the single ended output should bhe half of balanced, so it is really weird that BAL would work but SE wouldn't
