Happy New Year lovely people! Sorry if the sound in this video isn’t the best, I don’t have all my filming and editing gear while I’m away, so wasn’t able to get some things rounded out. I hope it’s still ok! Take care everyone!
You probably have the most worthwhile Patreon of all TH-camrs... getting a high-resolution print of your paintings is a great idea and a great incentive to be a Patron!
The cracks in the wall of the third painting is amazing, they just look so real, and the shadowing and highlights have been placed so cleverly! A lovely video it was so enable to watch and i look forward to the pieces you'll be making this year to come :)
Thank you so much my lovely friend, your support is so so wonderful, thank you for being there all this time :) I so look forward to seeing what you’ll create this year!
I know this video is older and that you may not see this comment, but you can buy cat flaps that scan the microchips in your cat's neck so it will only open for your cat! We bought one after having issues with neighbour's cats and it has worked so well!
I agree totally with your self critique of what really worked for you in 2019 and what didn't. I like that you are able to look at your work objectively and say "yeah, it's not perfect, but I learned a lot and there's a lot to like there" when a piece didn't quite come together, but also to say "hell yeah, nailed this one! (although you do it much more humbly, of course). To my mind Waning, Unravelling and Kindling were the strongest works. Kindling particularly undid me. It reminded me of friends and neighbours I lost in a bushfire some years ago. I see the figure as their ghosts and the kindling he/she is holding are the memories that I hold dear. Bear in mind that there has been enough distance from this tragic event that the painting is not traumatising, but rather brings up feelings of deep love and encapsulates just what it means to live in the Australian bush. My home in the Tasmanian wilderness is beautiful and rugged and to live here I must never take for granted that my safety and the safety of my home depends on vigilance during the hot summer months and a hefty dose of luck. You're family cat is clearly a genius and when I'm not being an artist I am a veterinarian so I know a genius cat when I see one.
Thank you so much Blue! By the way, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for always taking the time to comment really thoughtful, insightful and supportive comments. They mean so much to me, you always manage to pinpoint what I mean better I usually do, and have great insights and notes. Kindling was such a strangely timed piece of work, I painted it around the time the Amazon was burning, without knowing it was yet, and it feels so oddly relevant now, in such a heart wrenching way. I might do a sale of it at some point to raise money to donate to firefighters in Australia, or charities (if you have any to recommend, do let me know). I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford that, but I feel helpless and desperate to help, in ways many of us do I suspect. I am so so so sorry you lost friends to fires, what a terrible ordeal. I hope you are ok right now, I am envious of how you make your home sound, it sounds truly gorgeous, but in the wake of what is happening, I hope you are safe and I wish you all the very best for the coming year. Thank you again deeply for your continued kindness, and truly wonderful comments and support. Take good care! PS : my cat meows her agreement to your assessment of her. XD
@@myriamtillson No worries! I take the time because I get such delight from your videos and your work. Summer has only begun her in Tassie, but seriously, fire is just part of the landscape and if you can't deal with it you don't live where I live. It's so kind that you are thinking of a fund raiser, but take care of yourself first. Don't jeopardise your own income when you are in such early stages of your independent art career. There are plenty of generous people around the world who are donating to charities.
Bonne année! I have just been so inspired by your art and the concepts explored in them. You are one of the few artists who inspire me to do better. I too want to grow my sketchbook collection and draw as much as i can in 2020. All the best.
Wow I missed out on a lot of art. Beautiful work as always, very stunning and moving pieces. Happy New Year and can't wait to see what art this year brings.
I really love the collapse… What does this say about me? But all of your paintings are wonderful, I love the way your concepts make me feel understood and slightly weird at the same time.
What this says about you is that the work speaks to you and your life experience. This is the connection that artists are seeking to make and is the highest praise an artist can receive.
Wow can i just say that you’re really really pretty? I couldn’t stop admiring how beautiful you are girl!! 💕 your art makes me speechless and it’s so amazing! Keep up the great work girly
I really love you and your work so dearly. You and your art is beautiful and I tell you in every Instagram q and a and video. I own some of your work and you inspired me to start learning art
happy new year Myriam! your art is a major source of motivation for me, I have watched most of your videos in 2019.. please keep it going. Wising your another successful year creating art!
Hi Really love your art and your details. They inapire me to work harder on my art as well though I'm just starting out. I hope someday you could also make a video of how you learned anatomy or you draw the human body. Do you use references? And how to improve drawing the human body? Anyway, a blessed new year for you and hope you get to create more artworks and I'm really looking forward to all of them. :)
Thank you Mariz! I already have a video along these lines, you can find it here : th-cam.com/video/im3QQVglUIk/w-d-xo.html It was age restricted by TH-cam though (because apparently drawing people is adult content, hahaha), but I hope you can still access it. It shows a few of the exercises I do myself to improve drawing humans! I hope it helps! And I do use references yes. Less and less when I sketch (not because I don’t want to, but because I’m more comfortable with loosening up and drawing from imagination), but almost always when I paint, just to make sure I’m not making huge mistakes. References are great and very important ! Good luck lovely!
I really love your art and your ideas and you're really inspiring. But I want to say something because of the volume in this video. It is really quiet and very hard to hear. And this is just a suggestion but maybe you could add closed captions to your videos? This may seem petty but for example I am slowly losing my hearing but I love the way you speak and express yourself. With closed captions or captions in general you could attract a wider audience like deaf or hard of hearing people as well. :) (And yes, the snail painting is very cute and it's awesome!)
Ah yes, I was afraid that might be the case! I am away from home so I don’t have my usual software, and I had a suspicion the sound might be a bit low, I’m so sorry! I do want to look into doing captions on my videos, I’d love to make them more accessible to everyone, unfortunately I’m only one person and TH-cam isn’t my job, so finding the time is really difficult. Hopefully one day asap! Are the automatically generated captions any good?
@@myriamtillson You really don't have to feel bad! I think as soon as you use your usual software the sound will be completely fine again :) But for now, please enjoy your stay at home :D I completely understand why captions are something that requires a lot of time and is quite difficult to do if you're only one person (I absolutely and honestly applaud you for the quality of your videos and everything). The automatically generated captions in this video are really good but there are some conditions where they don't really work that well (for example in a crowd or something) but since your filming space is very calm you don't have to worry about that.
You’re lovely, thank you! Is my audio generally ok for you? I have been meaning to look into making captions for a while, and I really hope I can do it more this year. I usually try to talk clearly for the automatic ones, but as I also use those occasionally I do realise they aren’t ideal in a lot of situations.
