Hiya, Del! Cheers for the kind words, dude - yeah we had a few flips and tricks from this little beast - plenty left on the cutting room floor! Good run, Mark! Looked amazing with the splashing water and the sun! And what a great location with the jumps and such. I have managed to get mine out too. Had to give up waiting for a day off with actual sun shine though :-) ... and yes, Keep 'em Running ;-)
Glad you enjoyed it, Mikael - we were lucky with the conditions, I thought it would be poor light for the camera, but it worked out OK, just! That golf course it a fun RC place to run, wish we could use it all of the time, some perfect terrain for the trucks. Glad you got time to run yours, too, yeah, sunshine is rare this time of year. Oh, yeah, sorry I stole your saying, it's just too good not to! All the best, my mate! :O)
Great RC vid Mark, the slow motion with the water looked great. I liked the slide with the cartoon face on the tailgate! Overall this little Monster Truck is a performer. Always like you film and you use the static camera nicely. Take care Bro!
Thanks, Paul! 👍 We were just lucky the sun didn't go completely down whilst filming, but it gave some cool effects with the water droplets - more luck than judgement! Glad you pointed out that slide into the camera, it took ages to get that one!!! Thanks for the positive words, Brother, it means a lot to me. Take it easy, my friend! :)
Yes, it is a speedy little truck, Fons! It was great fun splashing along in the wet grass - and jumping into the sand! Thanks for watching, my good friend! :)

You got that right, Steve! Yeah, for some reason, the friction shocks seem to have more damping than others, not too bouncy at all! And yeah, I tried to break it, but it just kept going. All the best, my friend! :O)
Wow Mark, that is one POWERFUL Monster of a truck! It acted like a Monster Race Truck and blew me away with all of those tricks! Actually, I know the driver had more to do with that! Fantastic driving Mark! You make it look like so much fun! Love the spray action of the water and the giant mud puddle you put it through was amazing! Brilliant stuff Mark, again too many cool moments of footage to mention. I'm amazed that you can get this level of performance from something so inexpensive. Superb video from start to finish, I didn't want this one to end and look forward to this RC making more appearences in the future. In some ways the truck reminded me of a pygmy X-Maxx, as it seemed to be able to take anything thrown at it, like Traxxas's flagship RC, but with a huge price difference. I used to have a 1/16 Maverick Ion rally which also cut out in the wet, although it never got this wet. Great stuff, really enjoyed this video. Tough as old boots, too - it's taken a real thrashing, many crashes and not a scratch! As for your unboxing buggy guesses, I think you may be (cough, splutter) disappointed :-/ But it is a Tamiya, after all! All the best, dude, take it easy. :)

Hiya matey. Ooh a mid week video release! You got some brilliant shots of this little truck mate. Makes such a difference to get a bit of sunshine in the video. It looks like a real hoot to drive. Hard to tell that it's so little when you aren't holding it. It's like a baby Arrma Granite. The thing that puts me off these little ones is the limited space for standard electronics. If you have a 1/10 scale then you know that there is a whole bunch of electronics that will fit in it. Anyway be good to see how it goes with the oil shocks. I know that the WLtoys buggies handle really well. So you obviously videoed that while it was lockdown and the golfists weren't there. Is it out of bounds when it's open for golf? Anyway, hope your quarantine is going ok. I'm sure you're keeping busy. Cheers for now mate 😀
Hiya Pete! Yeah, well I got all this spare time at the minute, so put to good use on the editing - also filmed the completion of my SCA-1E Carisma truck. Took blooming ages, a lot trickier than a Tamiya, I can tell you! Great point you made about this HBX being like a baby Arrma Granite - I totally see what you mean. This thing is as tough as nails, not even a mark on it after about 8 battery runs of abuse! I'm not worried about the electronics as I'm not looking to change anything, and the standard bits are cheap as chips if anything does go wrong, but I do see what you mean. Yes, this was filmed a couple of weeks ago, no golfists allowed, but when they are back I can try to get a few sneaky runs in between each golfer, but they don't seem to like us being there, although it is a public place! I'm doing OK, thanks mate - hope you are too - cheers! :O)
@@MarkBryanRC Look forward to seeing that Carisma truck done. Good to have something to challenge you a bit. Glad you are doing ok. I keep hoping that the NHS app will tell me to stay home for 2 weeks but nothing yet sadly. When are you back in? Not long till Xmas hols now so hopefully not too much more work this year :-)
Hey Steve - great to read you! Hope all is OK! I think the wheelbase is 175mm, it's a great size truck, not too big and not too small. All the best, my friend! :)
Certainly looks like a lot of fun! I'm still considering them - but decided on the Kamtec Bangers for my Grandbabies. 😊 They live in a Cul-de-Sac, so they can have a lot of fun with On-Roaders. Getting one for me as well... If you want, I'll get you and Rob one as well. 😊 That little thing is surprisingly good though!! 👍👍 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Hiya, Mukka! It sure is a lot of fun, better than even I expected! But yeah, those Kamtec Bangers are awesome and value for money, too. Thanks for the offer! But it's OK, I was thinking of getting one soon anyway, Rob and I could have some new adventures with them and then share them on TH-cam! Take care, mon ami - all the best from Mark... :O)
I was serious about that offer. Me Mukka, you've been nothing but good to me! If there's ever anything I can do, please ask. They do look like a lot of fun, don't they?
Hi - The car comes ready to run, including controller, charger and LiPo batteries. I got 2 LiPo's with mine. Check out the deals available on-line to make sure as I think some sellers take out the second battery!
I just had a look too - yes, they all seem to come with Li-ion batteries, they must have changed the spec. However, Li-ion are safer than LiPo, plus they seem to give good power.
Hiya matey. Very nice video of this little truck. So I'm getting a bit confused about the difference between the trucks that you got sent. Is one smaller than the other? They look like good fun anyway and you can't knock the value. Golf course looked great without the pesky golfists. So I hope you are enjoying half term so far. I don't think that any rules are changing this week so be a quiet one I guess. I'm still fiddling with my Willy which is keeping me occupied. Best wishes to you my friend and enjoy the rest of the week 😁
Hi again mate. I've realised that this video came out a while back. It popped up on my home page so I thought it was new. I realised that it had been shot pre lockdown but thought it was some footage you'd held back. I did think that I'd seen a similar one but thought it was the other truck you got sent. Anyway, happy Monday to you mate :-)
Hiya Pete - hope all is well on the South Coast. Oh man, it's confusing enough for me, without you getting confused, and they are MY trucks!! It's our age, matey! Glad you watched this one again, you are spoiling me! (TBH I do have a watch of some of your older vids now and again, never get bored of a good RC bash). These HBX have the scale in the first 2 numbers of the model - 16889 is 1/16 and 18889 is 1/18, although in reality there is only a few mm in it (oh er missus). Just finished the DF03, a few teething problems with the alloy parts, nothing a file can't solve! Hope your willy fiddling is as enjoyable as it was back in the day! Thanks a ton for the kind words and best wishes back to you - cheers, mate. :)
So I’m thinking of buying one and is this one able to go threw mud because I really want to go mudding and I really like this can you give me a tip on how to clean it and you taking it threw mud
It should be OK in a little mud, but not too deep as it will strain the motor and ESC!!! I always clean mine with soapy water and spray with WD40 after. All the best! :)
I love the car! I would like to buy 1 or a redcat volcan 16, I am very interested in knowing how many game cycles the stock Esc 2-1 will last without burning out... does it still have the same original electronics working in 2024? greetings friend! The car is economical but its price makes me doubt a little about the duration of the stock esc and servo.... :) I have hardly seen videos that talk about this car after 1 year of use, usually everyone focuses on talking about the car fresh out of the box😊
Hi and thanks for the great comment! Yes it's a great little car and is still going strong today, no issues with the electronics at all, even after submerging it a few times! Servo is fine also. In fact nothing had broken at all. I agree, we don't see many long term reviews, it's something I'm going to do more of. Greetings to you too! 😎👊👍
Just a full grown man playing in the mud. Love it, keep up the great vids.

I keep hoping that the NHS app will tell me to stay home for 2 weeks but nothing yet sadly. When are you back in? Not long till Xmas hols now so hopefully not too much more work this year :-)
Great video Mark! What's the wheelbase on this truck?
Hey Steve - great to read you! Hope all is OK! I think the wheelbase is 175mm, it's a great size truck, not too big and not too small. All the best, my friend! :)
@@MarkBryanRC Thanks Mark! Yes, we're all hanging in there. I hope the same for you and your family!
@@pastimesteve Good to hear, Steve - thanks for the good wishes too!
That little thing is surprisingly good though!! 👍👍

Big like my friend#36👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video and a great channel I've subbed, I also have this car its awesome 👌
Thank you! I see you have the brushless version - even better than mine! 👍
Can you but this ready packed with lipo or is that always a seperate purchase.
Hi - The car comes ready to run, including controller, charger and LiPo batteries. I got 2 LiPo's with mine. Check out the deals available on-line to make sure as I think some sellers take out the second battery!
@@MarkBryanRC Was looking on banggood but all seem to be lithium batteries.
Which one is best brushed or brushless
I haven't tried the brushless version - this one is excellent - so I imagine the brushless will be much faster, and may be more fun! :)
It is brushless or brushed? Thanks
Hi - this is the brushed version, but you can get it with a brushless motor, too. Cheers! :)
Is it brushless or brushed
This one is brushed, my friend. Seasons Greetings to you! :O)
