Robert sets his drum kit in profile to the audience so they can see him and he can see them! And yes, Yahweh is a favorite of their new stuff. It is also their longest at six and a half minutes.
So much great stuff on their last 4 albums. Check out Do Unto Others, Make Love Great Again, Yahweh, Marching Into Battle. Awesome!!! These guys are actually getting better with age
Michael Sweet went through so much hardship in his life. the reason why he wears a patch on his eye because he had that I think retina detachment. And his wife of 22 yrs. died after a two-year battle with cancer. and the guy is still praising God through his music incredible
More than a Man from the 80’s era is one of my favs. Personally, all the albums from NMHTP, Fallen, God Damn Evil, and Even the Devil Believes are top notch. I think to this point ETDB is absolute gold. See what the new one has in store very soon.
I've been a fan since the beginning with Stryper. I can't pick a favorite because Anything from there first three - four LPs I'm good with. I'm really digging the new stuff also. No matter what you think about there message you can't deny the players. They are phenomenal musicians.
Great review. I do have to add some info though. When the guys got back together, the first few albums they put out didn't go over well. They tried some new things with instrument sounds and styles. It didn't go over well with the band or old school fans, and it didn't bring in many new fans. To me, the songs weren't at fault, but the strange production threw me off. They went back to 'their' sound and re-found themselves. As for the drumming, Robert Sweet is a really good drummer, but he is a showman at heart. He comes up with all sorts of odd equipment setups. (Cymbals hanging on chains or toms mounted to a horizontal, semi-circular bar) The most consistent being that he likes to position his kit at 90 degrees from the normal "bass drums at front-center orientation" so that the audience can see what he's doing. IMO, their last 2 albums have been some of their finest work. We'll have to wait for this new album to drop to see if the trend continues. Here's a recommendation for you. Listen to "This I Pray" and "Invitation Only" from the "Even the Devil Believes" album. This I Pray has a Southern Rock vibe to it, and Invitation Only feels like a poppy, radio-friendly song from the 80s. As you tell, this has some stylistic diversity to it, but you can still tell that it's Stryper. That's what the reformation albums were missing. Enjoy!
Actually the Reborn album which is when they all reunited was techically a Michael Sweet solo album, or it was written to be. That one didn't go over to well, since it was kind of a long anticipated reunited album. Murder By Pride I thought was more of a classic sounding Stryper album, but Michael was going through a lot during that process, his wife was dying of cancer, plus he was touring w/ Boston and Robert didn't play on it. So, there was a lot going on. Then they did things smart they took time off from making a full album again. They did an album of covers which was great, then they did a re-recording of old hits and a couple new ones.. Those led towards the new heavier Stryper sound.
@@ryant3600 Agreed. There was a lot of things and issues with the band and its members during the first few years after they reformed--most of it not pleasant. Murder was an okay effort with good songs. But between introducing Tracie on bass and Rob not manning the drums--it just didn't feel like Stryper. That said, the fact that they are still a band after all that is a blessing. Perry Richardson coming onboard on bass has been a breath of fresh air, and he's a good fit. He plays with punch and is not afraid to get creative with effects.
My favorite Stryper tracks include, but not limited to....In God We Trust,To Hell w/the Devil, Honestly, Soldiers Under Command, Together As One, I Believe In You & No More Hell To Pay, among others. Michael is one of the Few vocalists that seem to get better w/age, like a Fine Wine!-lol. And being a drummer myself, there are no words to describe Robert aka The Visual Timekeeper....OUTSTANDING, Guys!
Always There For You from their earlier days and Passion/Yahweh from their new days. I can't wait to see what they do next. The most prolific band for the ages!! Stryper rocks! Thanks for sharing!
One of maybe only a few bands from the 80s that keeps getting better. I thought "Murder By Pride" was pretty weak, but every album after that has been fantastic. I think Michael Sweet's voice sounds better now than it ever has.
All original members except for the bass player, Perry Richardson, who was in the 80s band Firehouse. FYI, if you're into country music, before joining Stryper Perry was playing in country bands...Craig Morgan and also Trace Adkins!
Well if you haven't heard any of there new stuff since at least 2006 that was one that brought out their new album since getting back together reborn then you need to hear the album from 2011 called the covering
I do really like them his vocals are still Old Point, the harmonies are good. Love to see you check out the song do unto others it is one of the new ones.
Stryper by far is the best heavy metal band out thier. Its sad that the media ,and rock stations will not give stryper a fair shake ,and air time. They are very biased towards Christians in my opinion.
My favz R More Than A Man , Comon Rock, Cant Stop The Rock, Soldiers Under Command ,The Reign, The Rock That Makes Me Roll , an All ,Rock The Hell Out of You, The World Of U and I, Reach Out,God, Against The Law
Try Yahweh from the newer ones. It´s just Stryper from 2013 onwards has been and is the best era of the band. Heavier and just in overall better in many aspects. I like Michael´s singing more nowadays, back in the 80´s he was good, but a bit too "soft" sometimes, if you get what I mean. Stryper 2023 is one of the best bands around.
Yahweh = IEVE, called the tetragrammaton (4 letters), in greek Ego Eimi or "I AM" Hallelujah = Hallelu - Ya, praise Yah, praise Yahweh Jesus, Yeshuah, Ye-Shuah = Yahweh the Saviour, or Yahweh's Salvation
I don't think any of them has made albums as good as No More Hell To Pay, Fallen, God Damn Evil, To Hell With The Devil etc. But like the guy above me said, you are entitled to your opinion!
Don't forget to like, comment and subscribe 🙏😎
check out Rez Band (Where Roses Grow or Broken Promises) , Bloodgood, or Phil Keaggy (Time)
Their last several albums have been their best and heaviest…. They’ve still got it…
My favorite stryper song is "YAHWEH". I still have it stuck in my head weeks later from hearing it. Can't get enough of that heavenly heavy harmony
Agree that is an amazing song
As a guy whose family background is Messianic (Jewish) but I am Christian by faith, I can agree with you!
Michael STILL has that voice. Wow.
So true!
the one song that takes me back and always been a favorite is “Surrender”
With you being a Country guitar player. Perry Richardson the Bass player played bass for country music performers Craig Morgan and Trace Adkins.
This song is a killer! Wow!
Can't really go wrong with stryper! Always good!
Robert sets his drum kit in profile to the audience so they can see him and he can see them! And yes, Yahweh is a favorite of their new stuff. It is also their longest at six and a half minutes.
stryper is the one band from the 80s that still sounds as great as they did in the 80s 👌👌👌
So much great stuff on their last 4 albums. Check out Do Unto Others, Make Love Great Again, Yahweh, Marching Into Battle. Awesome!!! These guys are actually getting better with age
I agree.
I have loved Stryper from their first album. And still loving them.
Thanks man!
Michael Sweet went through so much hardship in his life. the reason why he wears a patch on his eye because he had that I think retina detachment.
And his wife of 22 yrs. died after a two-year battle with cancer. and the guy is still praising God through his music incredible
Lrad guitarist Oz Fox has a brain tumor that has needed multiple surgeries as well.
They sort of changed their sound from the 80's for sure, but I like both. Stryper is good music with a good message.
More Than A Man from THWTD 1986!
That's still my favorite too!
It's amazing that when people talk about best singers and best guitarist, Michael and Oz NEVER mentioned
Love Stryper!!!!!!!
Bass player Perry Richardson formerly of FireHouse has been with Stryper for nearly five years now.
yeye! Big fan of Perry. SC kid here. good to see him with Stryper
Time flies!!
What an AMAZING band. I love their other song too, STRYPER - YAHWEH. Tuned my life around. Review that one!
More than a Man from the 80’s era is one of my favs. Personally, all the albums from NMHTP, Fallen, God Damn Evil, and Even the Devil Believes are top notch. I think to this point ETDB is absolute gold. See what the new one has in store very soon.
I have alot of favorite Stryper songs but my wife & I used their song "Together As One" for our wedding theme song.
Your spot on I grew up on them too the drummer and singer are brothers sounds just as good as there old stuff do TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL IS A GOOD ONE
Surrender off of Soldiers Under Command is my favorite Stryper song of all time. I have followed their entire career.
I never heard them before, but this is very good
To me this song has so much Judas Priest and Maiden influence... I love it. Check out Yahweh, God and do unto others. by them
Painkiller
Keep in mind, these guys are in their 60's.

" More than a Man " and " Free " a Both Great ))) But they have a Bunch of Good ones as You Know. Enjoyed Your Reaction! :)
One of maybe only a few bands from the 80s that keeps getting better. I thought "Murder By Pride" was pretty weak, but every album after that has been fantastic. I think Michael Sweet's voice sounds better now than it ever has.
First Love off of Soldiers Under Command. My favorite ballad Stryper has ever done.
soldiers under command as one of my favorites. I understand they recorded it and it sounds pretty good
Une of The Best Christian metal bands
They've put out more albums since reuniting in 2005 than they did in their original run.
that song has a great message
"All For One"
Stryper has been doing this since 83. They are Rocking better now
Soldiers Under Command
fav song Calling on you
free that was my first cd i listened to
Soldiers under command . My favorite 🤙🤙🤙
They are better then ever.
All original members except for the bass player, Perry Richardson, who was in the 80s band Firehouse. FYI, if you're into country music, before joining Stryper Perry was playing in country bands...Craig Morgan and also Trace Adkins!
I love the Final Battle album... check out No Rest for the Wicked -the lyrics are excellent!
God bless you all!
Well if you haven't heard any of there new stuff since at least 2006 that was one that brought out their new album since getting back together reborn then you need to hear the album from 2011 called the covering
All For One is a great song I had slept on since it came from "Against The Law" when many thought they left Christian music.
Stryper has a country song named "This I Pray." Let me know what you think of it
There's also "Run In You" but I'm not sure that can be classified as country
Oh and Michael Sweet's solo song "Radio"! Definitely some country vibes in that one
You definitely should react to "Radio" if your channel focus is country
I do really like them his vocals are still Old Point, the harmonies are good. Love to see you check out the song do unto others it is one of the new ones.
Great review ! Stryper is amazing, you should check out Yahweh Or Do Unto Others.
STRYPER rules !!!
Soldiers Under Command / To Hell With The Devil
majorcool ! 🎸🔆🎌💎🌀
My favorite song is More Than a Man.
Surrender the guitar solo is amazing

Moet open minded multi-stylistic country guitarist I ever did meet! 😆😂😁
Country is my current band, but I’ve played in almost every genre. I get easily distracted 🤣😂
CHECK OUT SORRY!!!!!! AWESOME SONG!!!!!
No More Hell To Pay is another good song by them.
The Writings on the Wall or The Way
You should be an Auctioneer! LADY does it for me.
🤣😂🤣😂
FU,K YES.
Michael had surgery on his eye that's why the eye patch
Detached retina ouch
Valley
Stryper rocks for JESUS CHRIST! All glory to GOD
Wish Perry was back in Firehouse and would release some new music...
Happy he is in Stryper and making new music.
Check out do onto others
Oops I meant to say they re-recorded soldiers under Command
Stryper new catalog is so dam impressive. Try Yahweh for a new song and then try the classic Soldiers Under Command!🙏🏼🤘🏼
The newer One would be Yaweh and the older one To Hell with the Devil :)
Cool,1
Please correct me if I am wrong! YAHWEH is Hebrew word for GOD!?
Yahweh = IEVE, called the tetragrammaton (4 letters), in greek Ego Eimi or "I AM"
Hallelujah = Hallelu - Ya, praise Yah, praise Yahweh
Jesus, Yeshuah, Ye-Shuah = Yahweh the Saviour, or Yahweh's Salvation
I prefer Petra, White heart, White Cross and the Daniel Band.
I met the guitarist from Petra a couple months ago. Super nice guy
I enjoy those bands too and you are entitled to your opinion and preferences but none of them even comes close to Stryper.
I don't think any of them has made albums as good as No More Hell To Pay, Fallen, God Damn Evil, To Hell With The Devil etc. But like the guy above me said, you are entitled to your opinion!
Don't forget Russ Taff 😎. I love Petra too. Fist concert I ever went to
@@brianlangley1082 yes Russ Taff is cool. Petra was my 1 concert. Do'nt for get David Meece.
Yahweh
robert always drums sideways
Unpopular opinion...Use to be a huge Stryper fan. BUT, since Tim Gaines left...no longer a fan. I miss Stryper with Timothy Gaines!!
Tim was Whimy,.Of course I wish he was still there but he was always the weakest member~
