A true Christian rock/metal band. They could have taken the easy road in their career but they wanted to keep the message about God while kicking butt in the music world!!
Sadly overlooked by too many.
@@jonlate4581 I read the interview with Michael Sweet about that. I kinda get what he was trying to say, but he actually contradicted himself in that interview. One minute he said he didn't like being labeled a Christian Rock band, but then later in the interview referring to Stryper as a Christian Rock band. I get what he's saying that they are Christian, but may want to do songs outside of their faith. But, they're success is based on their songs in regards to the Gospel. So, his words say they're not a Christian band, but their songs say otherwise.
They've changed as they have gotten older
So glad you tapped in to Stryper. Have seen them in concert a couple of times. The lead singer and guitarist is Michael Sweet, Robert Sweet, his brother is on drums, Oz Fox on guitar and Perry Richardson (formerly of Firehouse) on bass guitar. Great music and musicians. Robert is my favorite drummer. Very underrated. MTV turned me on to Stryper with hits like "To Hell With The Devil" and "In God We Trust". Great reaction!
Glad to see Perry having life after Firehouse. Met him a couple of times, after Firehouse, when he was doing session work in Nashville.
Stryper has so many great songs: Calling on You, Free, Honestly, Always There For You ! You gotta react to all of them 🔥
1st time I heard Stryper was 1985, please, please do the song "Makes Me Wanna Sing" I got goose bumps the 1st time I heard the chorus and I guarantee you will too Asia! ...bless you both and thumbs up for playing the first Christian metal band ...yep and Amen.
Makes Me Wanna Sing was my absolute favorite Stryper song...until Yahweh. It's still a strong second place.
85 was when I first heard them too. A friend introduced me to their first two albums. Then the next year, Honestly hit the radio and Calling on You, and To Hell With the Devil were flat out master classes in metal. Awesome tunes.
i dont think "makes me wanna sing" is that special... its a party song, fun to listen to but nothing deep
one of my favorite bands.. sadly overlooked by many, but they have a great message and they sound incredible. Excellent musicians..
Rock on!
I bought their debut record album back in the 1980''s. It rocked hard. I need to go dig that bad boy out and give it a play.
Edit: My bad I have their second album "To Hell With The Devil".
Calling On You and To Hell with the Devil are a couple of my favorites... saw them back in 87 at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ.. oh yeah.. Honestly was another good song
Amazing the longevity of this band , first cassette back in '82- 83 .
sadly underestimated band because of being a "christian rock group" - these guys have if anything grew and become even better now than in their "MTV heyday", I loved that stuff as well but Michael's voice has been at his mightiest in the last 5 yrs !!!
You guys really really need to check out "Yahweh" and even Michael's duet w Todd LaTorre "Son of Man" both amazing and incredibly rocking songs !!! Good stuff guys keep it up !!!
Never knew they were Christian. Thank you for this info.
@@jackiegoodspeed1849 they were kind of made to be the brunt of the joke back in the MTV heyday when everyone was singing about boozing and boobs and they were openly and more importantly proud to show their devotion to their beliefs. Their songs were clever and written in a way that could be interpreted in love for others or love for God. They threw bibles out into the crowd at their concerts !! One of my buddies still has his \\m// !! whether or not I ever or do now believe is something i ponder BUT it doesnt take away from their talent musically - they make damn good music !!
@@GunnerSG
Wow interesting. Thank you.
Trivia tidbit:
"Honestly" is a power ballad by the American Christian metal band Stryper. The song was the band's fifth single and their highest charting on the Billboard Hot 100. It became one of the most requested songs on MTV.
❤ yep! I remember and was so excited, as a born again Christian 😊
To Hell With The Devil, Honestly, are their two biggest hits.
Stryper rock! One of my favorite Christian metal bands of all time. They're an 80's metal band and their newer albums are really good too. They're rare examples of bands that gotten better with age.
Stryper is one of the best bands ever! Message, music and musicianship! What a trifecta! And it’s great to see another generation catching up to them!
They used to attend and play at my church Calvary Chapel in the early 80’s. They were exactly what I and all of us long haired Rock and Roll Christians needed at the time! ✌🏻💙🙏🏻
Love that y’all are doing some Stryper! Check out Skillet, too. Christian music has some amazing musicians (like NF).
You need to check out "Yahweh" by them..... They hit hard and so does the message!!!!
When they first arrived at the metal/hard rock scene they were beeing laughed at people thinking "Christians can't do metal". The guys kept on doing their thing and eventually people in the biz began accepting them cause they sure do rock!
This song is just what we needed now. The world is in a very tense and uncaring place.
Stryper is one of my favorite bands, they have a new CD coming out in October
Rise To the Call
See Noi Evil,Hear No Evil
Transgressor
These are some of the songs off their new CD "The Final Battle ".
Michael Sweet's vocals have gotten so much more powerful and stronger over the years. Check out some early songs (Free, to hell with the devil) - to name a couple and you'll definitely hear it.
this was one of my favorite bands back in the hairband 80s era. I loved their style. My best friend at that time (James), his mother did arts and crafts as a side project. She used oil paints and painted the back of my (80s iconic) jean jacket to have Strypers emblem/logo on the back. Still have the jacket to this day - kept in my closet (doesn't fit anymore LOL).
Their singer (Michael Sweet) has a super powerful voice, and their drummer (Robert Sweet - brother of singer) was one of the drummers that inspired me to want to be a drummer back then.
Their old stuff is amazing too. If you ever check out 1 more song by Stryper, do "To Hell With The Devil"
That song is fire!!
u should pass on that jacket to ur son❤
Saw them in concert back in the late '80's
Stryper alone has written 1/4 of the most awesome riffs in metal. They are in better shape than any other band from their era.
Great band, and their songwriting just keeps getting better after all these years, the lead singer , Michael Sweet does almost all the songwriting, lead vocals, a lot of the lead guitar, and he can still hit a lot of those high notes he’s known for…. Their message has been consistent for all these (almost 40) years. They’ve been together, broken up, reformed the band, are are stronger than ever, you all should definitely check more of them out… 👍🏻. ✌🏼
Christian Metal. Michael Sweet has an amazing voice. Amen Thank You Jesus!
Stryper is from my hometown of LA Mirada CA, played at my high school a couple times in the 80s, and the singer Michael Sweet has also been the lead singer for the band Boston 🤘🤘
Man i se STRAYPER in 🇵🇷 Puerto Rico 3 Times in the 80's with BON JOVI ,SKID ROW, RATT 🤘the 80's was so magicall ,i have no idea the Band STILL Around tanks great🥸check 🎸STRYPER Music Video👿🔥TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL🔥🎼🎩🎶🎶🎶☮️
Stryper is one of the few 80's bands that are still going strong.
Their 80's official videos include:
Calling On You, Honestly, Free, and Always There For You.
Some of their official songs from recent albums include: Sorry, The Valley, and Divider.
WOW!!!
I did NOT expect yall to ever do this band!
Heck yeah man! I ❤️ this band.
Top christian metal band. saw them several times and they really rocked. Michael sweets voice has gotten better as the years have gone by, check out their song " To hell with the devil "
Thanks for doing Stryper. One of the best Christian Metal bands. They have many awesome songs. Best drummer and double guitar assault doesn't hurt.
Been a Stryper fan from the beginning. I’ll be seeing them in concert, again, In November @ The Whisky in Hollywood. Great review! Take care.
I bought their debut record album back in the 1980''s. It rocked hard. I need to go dig that bad boy out and give it a play
Edit: My bad I have their second album "To Hell With The Devil".
Been a fan of this band since 84! They actually inspired me to play guitar and sing in band since then!! Love them do more!!
I'm a Stryper fan and I just heard this for the first time and thank you for this!!
I've been following and listening to Stryper since the first release in 1983, the Yellow and Black Attack. I got it on both cassette and vinyl, still have all the original vinyl albums that I can play on a sweet turntable. Thank you for taking the time to share your first time impression and review with us! Blessings upon you both, Mark from Oregon...
Matthew 7:12 Jesus speaking " Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" the simple golden rule that would revolutionize this world!! That song hits me hard in the heart ❤, I love it
Thanks for checking out Stryper who have released 5 killer Christian hard rock albums back to back (including their newest album coming out this year) since 2013. Their first album was released in 1983.
Michael Sweet is a beast! In addition to being Lead Singer and guitarist for Stryper, Michael has:
-- Released 10 solo albums
-- Toured as Lead Singer for Boston
-- Recorded 2 albums with George Lynch from Dokken (Sweet & Lynch)
-- Recorded an album with Tracii Guns from L.A. GUNS (Sunbomb)
-- Recorded an album playing guitar and some singing with the band Iconic
Hardest working man in rock / metal!
If you get a chance to see Stryper soon, you won't be disappointed. Incredible. Still jamming 🤘🏽
Love This band! From the first album Yellow and Black Attack.
Check out their song, "All for One." It is one of my many favorite Stryper songs.
Loved Stryper!! First saw them on MTV. They had a countdown (nightly I think) and I think the folks at MTV were shocked Stryper kept coming in number one over & over!! First song I heard was 'To Hell With the Devil'. I just played it for my son yesterday! 😊
Great reaction! Stryper is an awesome band. I have been a fan since 1984. This song is off their "Even The Devil Believes" album. The whole album is outstanding!
Whats best about Stryper is the Riffs of its songs.
These guys have been killing it since the 80's. Go back and check out "Soldiers Under Command" or "To Hell With The Devil" from back in the day, and also they just dropped a new single a couple days ago called "Transgressor" which is KILLER!
Love Stryper...getting better with age!!! Easily my favorite band.
SOLDIERS UNDER COMMAND was the Song that put them on the Map,.
But that's just a START,.But it's the Song you should start with,.
Shows ALL their immense TALENTS~
I Saw Stryper at a M3 concert a Friday night all day Saturday Rockfest with 16 bands playing .Stryper threw Bibles to the crowd ,they are a Christian metal band . I got a meet and great with Stryper and got the coolest pictures with them . They are amazing inside and out . Thanks for reacting to them, please react to more of their songs ,they have mad talent . Love and good vibes 😎💜🤗🙏
Stryper has a rocking song called " the way" 👍
Love Michael. He's a true blessing. We all chat on Facebook. He takes us through his journeys and i love being a part of it.
Need to introduce yourself to dc talk. Rap rock and soul all blended together. You'll love it
Stryper... the most relevant band. They have the chops and the sound. They always rock and speak the truth. 30+ years they always are relevant.
Stryper are Awesome! Their recent release which is as hard and timely as anything they've done before... to their stuff back in the day. It's hard to go wrong. Try their studio cuts,
"The Sing Along Song", "Makes Me Want To Sing", "Soldiers Under Command", "Free" and "Calling On You". These songs are the ones that launched them into the stratosphere back in the 80's.
It's so cool you choose one of their latest to do! They truly sound better than ever!!!!!!!!!
Stryper is a full-blown spirit-filled Christian band from the 80's that never sold out. That's Michael Sweet singing, playing that guitar solo and writing the songs and his brother Robert on drugs. Producing some of the best music available for 40 straight years. Unrivaled vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation.
I'm pretty sure you mean Robert is on "drums". lol
Love love love STRYPER! Please do more---I know if I see it--I will watch!
ME TOO~
The loudest concert I went to in 1986 and still is to this day
Been a fan of this band since 1986. Michael Sweet is my all time favorite vocalist. Floor Jansen is a close second. The rest of the guys in Stryper ate solid players as well. If you really wanna hear. some crazy range out of Michael check out To Hell With The Devil or The Way. Their ballad Honestly put them on the map so to speak in pop circles but Stryper is at it's best when they are rocking out. Thanks for giving this important band.a listen. I just subbed!!
The entire "soldiers under command" album is great from beginning to end. One of my all time favorites.
Stryper has a new cd coming out in later October I am buying it there single Transgressor kicks butt it is amazing how much better they are the older they got. You should try that song by them and from their last cd Blood From Above amazing stuff.
Very good band they been playing since the early 1980’s saw them on their first tour through florida great band and great message from a band of Christian men
Thank you for listening to STRYPER I've suggested them a few times you are the only one that would listen to them when people find out they are a Christian band they won't listen to them I'm glad you did they have a lot of really good songs with good messages
One of my favorite bands!
I have been a Stryper fan since I heard their debut album Yellow and Black Attack. They were I'll received by most evangelical/ fundamentalist churches, because of their hard rock/ metal leaning sound. Also their appearance back then, long poofy hairstyles, tight leather outfits, and even some makeup, caused a lot of waves in the extremely conservative,(controlling) organizations. We, that enjoyed them were usually looked upon as rebels, by our own church leaders, if only for a short time. And mocked by mainstream rock fans, that Stryper was lame. Neither group of critics had typically even listened to them, but had plenty of negative things to say. I love the songs More than a Man, In God we Trust, and Rock that makes me Roll. Soldiers Under Command is the name of their first "full album". Yellow and Black Attack was a mini album really. Barely 30 minutes long, if I remember correctly. Anyway, these guys have been rocking quite a while now and still going. Hope you react to more of them! Peace!
Striker was big in the 80s I would like to see you guys go back and listen to more than a man such a great voice.
Got into stryper in the back in 1985 a friend turned me on to them and their music is Pro God Almighty they never have strayed from what made them one of the greatest Christian ✝️ metal bands around Michael Sweet is a great front man and his guitar skills are just flawless he truly deserves more credit.
Just listened to Strypers New Album and the last one! Both rock!!! 👍✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🖤
[Verse 1]
We all have questions
Many concerns
Simple frustrations
Respect is what we yearn
We are offended
Easily on cue
Often unfriended
Without a single clue
[Pre-Chorus 1]
If we could step back
To see what matters
We would call off the attack
Break the hate
And watch it shatter
[Chorus]
Do unto others as you would
Have them do unto you
Often it's a thought misunderstood
But one we must pursue
[Verse 2]
This life is too short
To waste a day
And worry about
The games we often play
Look to the future
It’s shining bright
It’s really not hard
To choose what we know is right
[Pre-Chorus 2]
It’s simple choices
We make alone
If we would think of each other
Maybe we would heal
Not suffer
[Chorus]
Do unto others as you would
Have them do unto you
Often it's a thought misunderstood
But one we must pursue
[Guitar Solo]
[Chorus]
Do unto others as you would
Have them do unto you
Often it's a thought misunderstood
Do unto others as you would
Have them do unto you
Often it's a thought misunderstood
But one we must pursue
What we must pursue
I saw them live in Buena Park California back in 85 before they hit big. Back when they used to throw Bibles into the audience. Still a fan after all these years
Thank you guys for listening! Much love🙏
Nice…the grandfathers of Christian metal! They were great in concert back in the day. Glad to see they are producing good music! Back in the day they had to change up their “Honestly” video as MTV deemed it to family friendly. That song ended up breaking some MTV records. It’s a power ballad so check out “Honestly” some time.
I saw them live back in the days . They opened up for ACDC .
My favorite band as a kid and my top three all time behind the Doors and pearl jam. They have lots of good songs. Try listening to soldiers under command/ calling on you/ to hell with the devil/ reach out/ makes me want to sing/always there for you/yahweh.
PLEASE, you owe it to yourself to react to their epic "Yahweh", about the crucifixion.
Stryper exceptional Musicians And Always With a Christian Message in the lyrics. An Awesome Church
Stryper is a guilty pleasure of mine. I have loved these guys since the mid-80s. Great musicians!
I know of a lot of bands that are active in their 50s or later, but here's difference-- they're still good and haven't lost a beat! And their new stuff is arguably better than their older stuff! Their last 3 albums have been better written, well played, and with better production.
Their last album is probably their best to date. Wide variety of song styles, but you still feel that Stryper sound!
finally! Stryper is soooo good. Check out their other latest videos Divider and Transgressor. killer jams!
Stryper is a Christain metal band, and they are amazing! their moto is "If satan can rock so can God" got to do more because they rock hard!
Stryper sounds better than ever!
The message in this song is desperately needed in these dark times.
I feel as a Christian I should explain one of the things he says in the chorus. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you is a quote from the Bible often twisted around to mean revenge. That’s why he sings “often it’s a third understood.” It’s actually spoken by Jesus in Luke 6:31 when he is saying to treat others as you would want to be treated. It’s often referred to as the golden rule of Christianity.
****Referred to as "HEAVENLY METAL", their name comes from "By His Stripes we are Healed."
Isaiah 53:5 🙂👍
FYI: They're name is also an acronym: S.T.R.Y.P.E.R.
Salvation
Through
Redemption
Yielding
Peace
Encouragement, and
Righteousness
👍
Check out some of their later stuff; as they have gotten older; like the song ‘No more hell to pay’
Hi Asia Hello BJ 👋..Great Christian Band 👍👍..STRYPER Can Rock ☝️..Thnx For Reacting To The Band 👏🙏..You Both Take Great Care🙏..
A great band with power vocals & great musicians & they are Christians too! It doesn’t get any better than Stryker!!
For God and rockin roll off this same album is killer.
Hi there Asia you are absolutely stunning
BJ you are one lucky man you guys are going to be listening to one of the best Christian band ever. They have so many more other songs that are great I hope you guys will do research and look more into them and do some reactions on some of the other stuff anyways remember to always stay frosty🤘🤘
Stryper FOREVER
Asia and BJ both made great points.
Its good to see someone reacting to Stryper. Also react to their songs More than a man, and No more hell to pay. Awesome.
The 'universe' is not a sentient being; it is a part of creation. It exists but does not have a 'personal' role in whether someone is blessed (or otherwise) for the good or bad that they do. Good reaction to the message.
I Love Stryper and listen to them Every Day. Use their Gifts that Yahweh Gave them to Spread His Message.
Check out Makes Me wanna Sing ,Water into Wine,Marching into Battle, Renewed,Take it to the Cross to name a few.
Thank You God Bless
Stryper "The Valley"
Awesome video, good in concert, still tour today 👍😎🤘🎸🎸🎸🎤🥁🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
talented band
positive messaging
Christian Metal 🤟🎶
lots of good ones from these guys over the decades
One part that really strikes me in a personal matter: 'if we would think of each other, maybe we would heal not suffer'.
Stryper can jam with the best of them!!!!!!
Never heard this song by them. They always seemed dark to me. But now listening and watching this video. I think I might have been wrong. We must do for others through the Lord. Asia is right. But Jehovah says don't get weary doing good. Like your videos. You bless us, we bless you as we all can. Some watch, some comment and we like to send money to those we love. You two are special people. Stay that way.
yah if you thought they were dark - you definitely missed the mark.
They are a Christian rock band, and their music has always been about positive messages. Check out "In God We Trust" "Always There For You" "To Hell With The Devil" and "Soldiers Under Command"
@@Frostrazor
Yeah I never knew. Glad that lie got squashed. Such a great message.
You guys need to try some of Yngwie Malmsteen "Rising Force " and "Trilogy" album instrumental guitar playing "songs"
2018 Wal-Mart banned Strypers new cd called "God Damn Evil".
Michael Sweet and Oz Fox are one of the greatest guitar teams to exist. Then you add Perry Richardson in and they are the greatest.
Super brutallll muy power.
Stryper the GOAT of Christian Metal. I've been a fan for 34 years.
