This my build to the T aside from front mount, I run a Process West Verticooler, but the same FP Ble xona rotor, same ID1300 cc injectors, same fuel pump, built motor from IAG, built heads. But my car is the 08 WRX still with the 5 speed. Making 417whp/410 torque at only 19.5 psi of boost I also live in the pacific northwest. Let me know if you want to collab!

I also have a 2011 STI sedan. I never got the hate with this look, I LOVE it. Anyways, I have a full turboback, intake, accessport ots stage 2+ tune, plus other handling and braking mods. Next month I'm doing the fuel system, TGV delete and flexfuel with a pro tune from P&L motorsports up here in Chicago and I'm super stoked. I want my daily to get to Chris' eventually but for now, I'll settle with what I have. This car is fucking amazing! I've watched this video about 5 times now.
@@johnrosciolo8640 usual Subaru things, if it’s at 100k it needs a timing belt and water pump, while the timing is apart may as well do headgaskets and valve cover gaskets. (Little secret, if you go in and retorque the head bolts every 40k miles, you’ll never need to replace headgaskets again) also this generation has an open lawsuit for piston rings so if the car is below 100k miles, stock, or newer than 10 years, it falls under extended warranty, also I highly recommend deleting TGV motors and Secondary air injection. Will save a lot of maintenance down the road and make a little easy power. Also just note that turbo subarus walk a fine line between “normal Subaru engine noise” and “needs a rebuild”
@@trashedsti7869 it has a fresh Longblock with 500 miles on it, new heads, new clutch, tons of new goodies on it, I had a 04 and after 3 shortblocks I had enough lol

So true they are reliable with proper maintenance, stock or modded with a proper tune. My 2013 wrx with just a cat back and bov has 170k on the original motor!

@@SuitOne agree. It's the purging sound. It's just sickening. I've heard the EWG on a Type R. It doesn't give the same purging sound. Only Evo's and Sti's make that awesome sound.
Great build! I have a 19 STI and def want to do some upgrades. Glad to hear him say he never had issues with bolt ons, I'm considering running them. IDK if this is just me, but some people have external waste gates on their STI's that sound like something is loose and it sounds awful in my opinion. This build is done right, awesome!

Update on my last comment from 10 months ago... The new motor parts are....The GDT 4 cylinder cooling mod, IAG comp series AOS, ceramic coated Tomei Eul headers, ceramic coated P&L Motorsports uppipe w/ Turbosmart 40mm EWG, P&L Motorsports top feed fuel rail conversion w/ TGV deletes. Injector dynamics 1050x injectors, AEM E85 340 lph fuel pump, cobb flex sensor, Aeromotive fpr, Grimmspeed ebcs, Perrin TMIC, and ngk plugs. New Exedy stage 1 HD clutch w a new OEM flywheel put together with an E85 tune by P&L motorsports. My car now makes 350whp on 60% E85. Torque value couldn't be taken but I know it's higher than 350 because my first drive after picking it up from tuning, surprised the crap out of me. With all of the the new mods, the thing that scared me most about running E85 was the super quick turbo spool. The awd wheelspin when traction isn' the best. That paired with also having an EWG. Every wot top rev shift a big pop out of the single exit Tomei. Long story short, I laughed like Marcus @ 12:21 Awesome feeling
Current update. Stock radiator started failing at the top side where it's plastic. Which happens at ~115k miles. The old radiator looks beat to hell. I have a Koyorad coming in to replace that along with silicone hoses. Keeping it going for another month or so before I completely rebuild. Subie motors defintely are reliable, if the owner takes care of it. Update to come in another few months.
Update... My car should be ready for pickup and break in, in about 3 weeks. Once it's broken in and tuned, I'll share my video but this one was always my goal. I loved this videos back then and is still a goal today.
I love this generation more than others, but that's probably because I currently have a 2008 Impreza 2.5i hatchback. 5spd, roof racks(that I acrually use for transport), WRX wheels.
Fp turbos are the best for stock loc. Fp green and black is that way to go tho. My black made 510 whp on pump E. Fun daily but wish I did heads for more head room
Even though I'm a EVO X guy I really enjoyed some of my buddies STI it's a different feel. Just not as focused as an evo. Come on roads untraveled take the wheel of a highly modified EVO X please.
I always make mine rally ready. For a daily. Hit speed bumps at full speed. Sand dunes. Whatever. And if I do track it. I lower it down with the adjustable coils. Honestly in Oregon if you drive a lowered car, you will rip all the body stuff off in a hurry. We have drainage so all the transitions are steep.
I’ve also got an sti but I still have my mr2! Got the spyder though so no problems with snap oversteer, it has more problems with understeer at the limit.
Well worth it if done right. Start small, then hammer out mods that require a tune and when this is done.. Get the tune immediately. People neglect quality tunes on these cars but when done right they make a good platform. I own a 12’ Wrx with a 6 speed sti swapped tranny, forged internals, stock turbo and a ton of other bolt ons, but I’m at the perfect point to go e85 like this with maybe bigger injectors and turbo and I’m there. If you have the monies anything is possible
But you really don’t. If you factor in the cost of the car, plus well selected mods and a competent tuner. You’ll be fine (2013 wrx with 100,00kms of trouble free motoring) Not to mention to still drive these cars, not “ride” in them like a lot of new cars.
@@Thicsti funny you mention 335 because I have an sti and have considered switching to a 335i for the mod potential. For myself it's hard to let subarus go.
@@zanebauer2974 trust me I love my 07 sti and I didn’t want to let it go. I bought my 335i, with all the simple bolts on and turbo upgrade. I haven’t looked back at my sti and it was just collecting dust so I made the hard choices to sell it and let some1 else enjoy it.
i had a built 02 wrx with a 07 sti transmission making around 450whp, and it was super fun to drive, after about 10 years of fun and headaches finally sold it and got a 2017 sti, which went as far as fbo e85, but at the end of the day i ended up getting my dream car a 2014 R35 and its not just for the power but the reliability behind it, not matter how much maintenance you do to the subaru platform its just not reliable, especially for my type of driving, one day i'll get another manual car and i was hoping the new sti would be that car, but the new style got pretty ugly
Currently building 2008 sti for 400hp on 91 oct. Iag stage 2 short block with oil pick up & baffle + stage 2 oil pump, Perrin fmic, Cobb 20g turbo, fully rebuilt heads with gsc s2 cams, act street clutch and flywheel, Iag aos, iag engine mounts, Spyder C-Style headlights and a few other mods. Including labor I’m just over 20k. Edit: Still need to pay for final labor installation, tune, tires, rims and tints. When finished it will be a 25k+ build, and as a 20 yr old I don’t regret any of it :D

I love the way Sti's and Evo's sound with an external wastegate. Wish my Type R would make that sound.
They make EWGs for the Rs
