Hi Darryl, the difference in responding between the bridge and the Cruiser is huge! Where the Cruiser sounds really open and sweet, the bridge pup you're using is the absolute opposite. I prefer the 'openess' of the Cruiser. I know, they both serve another purpose.

I Andy timmoned my fender player guitar. I also Tremontisized the bridge position. It;s a monster and a lover all in one

Just the vid I've been looking for. I've been thinking about putting a Cruiser on my Jem. I've always felt the neck pickup on that one a bit too thick and round sounding, and lately I've been getting into Andy Timmons' tone (which is amazing).

Hey Darryl, cool video! I notice that you've got essentially three humbuckers in that thing now. I'm curious how your switching is set up. I'm planning to install an Evo bridge, Cruiser neck (mid), and Air Norton in an RG550 a lot like yours, and I'm looking around for good wiring ideas.
Technically, yes. They’re wired pretty standard. Nothing fancy, other than a treble bleed on the volume pot to keep that high end there when rolling down the volume. Besides that, everything else is standard 👍
Hey Darryl I'm looking to do the same to my S series (cuz Ibanez just REFUSES to make a S series with SSH config). How did you go about converting the humbucker space to single coil? I see you have a piece of black stuff in there. Did you just drill thru the pick guard and fill the hole w/ something? Much love dude, love your content!
I just drilled a couple extra holes in the pick guard, and then filled the gap with a piece of black plastic and some hot glue :)
@@DarrylSyms Thanks for that info Darryl! Sounds simple enough! Only S series don't have a pick guard lol Imma have to try the single to humbucker adaptor lol thanks dude!
You can always boost mids to make a single-coil sound muffled like a humbucker, but it's a struggle to make a humbucker mimic a lively, rich single-coil sound. The Hot Rails or Lace Sensor style pickups are the best.

I just got a HSH guitar with a cruiser in the middle but it's wired as a single coil, is it worth rewiring it to being a humbucker?
I don’t know what it sounds like as a single coil, but I imagine it will have double the power and output. For me, wired as a humbucker, it sounds like a single coil as it is. I can’t imagine it being any weaker, since I think it’s quite weak as it is (which I like, but I wouldn’t like anything any weaker)
Yeah, I think the guy who wired it just saw it was a humbucker and just assumed it must be high output or something, I'll probably rewire it cause there's a bit of a volume drop

Is that the Dimarzio 186 or 187 that you are using at the neck?
186 in the Neck, 187 in the Middle

I much prefer the 186 for my style of playing, I'm convinced it's the most beautiful pickup in the world! I rarely use the 187. Thank you for your appreciation :)

Hey man what made you change the air norton for the cruiser?
Why not? 🙂 The Air Norton was fantastic, but I found myself quite often cool tapping it, for a more dynamic and strat like sound. Eventually I thought that I would try out the Cruiser, and I love it! It reflects my taste in music more accurately ✌️

I can certainly recommend the cruiser 😋 Listen to some of my originals (playlist on my channel) to hear more on how it sounds. I use it for almost everything these days ha
