Finally a good playthrough of these. I didn’t want to hear them just as Bowen uses them and I wanted to see what a proficient player can get out of them. I already got my mirage neck just haven’t wired it yet but this tells me that I made the right choice.
The double blade that's a good pickup, related Cruiser and Chopper are all fantastic in my opinion, along with the Billy Corgan and Satriani variants it's probably best fundamental design in Dimarzio lineup.
Hey guess what? I just scored one of these in unused mint condition for $425 USD! A guitar luthier buddy of mine who lives and hour away inspected and picked it up on my behalf and is shipping it to me. The owner wanted door pickup only and I'm 6.5 hours away. This saved me because it was on the market for 3 weeks! I'll be keeping mine stock but white HSS does look good on her.
Hi cameron these new di marzio pick ups are a very great surprise for me and i will love them whenever i will play new songs in van halen style, see you soon, peter
Sounds awesome. Making me think about getting some of these to put in my pacifica. Everything else except for the pickups has been upgraded and these are a very tempting final piece
Ive got the fusion 3 want to upgrade the pickups. That sounds awesome right there. Is the bridge pickup size f-spaced? I went to the web and only fspaced available. Probably your skills made everything sounds good 😎
Excelent Cameron, thank you. I have a question, i'm looking for a mini humbucker for bridge, the sound of your pick up sounds amazing, what model do you recommend me. The mist I like is the Dimarzio Utopia bridge but there is not the mini humbucker version 😢.
Thank you Charly. I haven't played or owned any mini humbuckers so I'm afraid I'm not much help. It might be worth going through DiMarzio's product range and seeing what mini humbuckers they offer.
Did you mean mini humbucker like the slightly narrower humbucker found on some Gibsons or the single coil sized humbucker like the mirage in the neck and middle?
Hey man, Am I right that the bridge pickup is a flat white and the single coil covers are a gloss white and a slightly different colour? I just got this set in white and yeah the colours are slightly off from the humbucker too the single coil...
I'm they are given they're all humbuckers with four conductor wire. Check Dimarzio's website for technical stats. I'm not speaking as an authority when I didn't install them myself :)

@@hermanodejesus7264 no there isn't from what I've seen. The Mirage is a fresh new set with a humbucker for the bridge and a rails for the neck. The rail is also designed to be compatible as a middle pickup hence why I got another one for this particular guitar
Dude, tell me which of the new HB's stays in tune the best with the non-Floyd trem and I'll buy it. I already have the Cream (or Double Cream) pickups planned for. Also...thanks. Your videos are such a great help to us.
This 25th anniversary stays in tune well but I'm using pretty heavy strings which seems to be helping that at the moment. All the other Harleys I use are hard tails so my best advice would be pick one you like with a fixed bridge.
Those pickups do sound great but I think it's as much how they're being played as much as being DiMarzios :) What's the neck profile like on that HB? Is it like a Charvel or a Strat?
I don't know about the pickups, but it's been a while since I've watched your videos and your voice has suddenly gotten a lot lower. Downtuning, I guess.
The problem with Harley Benton is that there's no opportunity to try them out. I just wondered if it was truly as comfortable and well made as the Charvel (which I know I really like from trying it in the shop). If you put them side by side, can you tell where the extra money goes? @@CameronCooper
I'm literally confused, I thought 'split' is using switch, and 'tap' is using push-pull. That pickup really gives good clean when in single coil mode. Not a significant volume drop detected to my ears.
They sound good but i feel the note definition of the pickups are not quite there. There is a lack of clarity and they seem to pickup some unwanted noice. Also they sound a bit sharp/harsh but that’s a matter of taste. Meaby the guitar or your rig is not a 100% fit with those pickups.
Is it me or does this guy appear to be throwing in the occasional badly spelt words to cover himself up ...pretending to be not an English speaker..do you work for Seymour Duncan haha.
Pickups are only copper wires wrapped up on magnets. There is nothing special about them. No matter what pickups you replace the tone of the sound will remain the same. You might get more or less gain depending on strength of the created signal by the pickup, but the same you can achieve with gain knob .
However these made a very distinct difference to sound of this particular guitar. You can compare the demo I did of it with the original pickups to this video if you want. Same set up and presets in my rig if you're sceptical.
@@CameronCooper I watched Jim Lil video about where tone comes from and I'm very convinced of his scientific approach. I know some pickups are louder and that might effect the perception of the sound but I don't believe that putting different pickups will change dramatically sound of my guitar . that slight possible difference is not beyond what I can tweak on my amp or my pre amp pedal . I like also video of Ola Englund when he compares many amps to different cabinets and reasolt is that the real difference in the sound is in cabinet , not even in amplifier. So my belief is that the real factor of the sound is in the speaker, and pickups are only cosmetic
Your opinion about amps I would say is correct to an extent, however pickups do play a big part in the EQ coming from the guitar and the volume to begin with. If you believe changing the pickups doesn't make a big difference, why would you need to change an amp setting to compensate using the gain or pre amp pedal? You could simply leave the amp settings the same and notice a difference. You're just stating where you prefer to adjust your guitar tone. One assumes that the pickups do change the tone after all then. If your 'scientific' opinion about pickups being solely cosmetic, why don't these brands like Ola Englund's Solar install expensive pickups instead of cheap ones if it doesn't make a difference? Are you saying that Larry DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, Tim Shaw, Seth Lover, Tim Mills and loads of other brands associated with famous artists in your music collection are all wrong and you're right? I think you'll find changing pickups does change the tone considerably.
Pickups essentially are like anything else in the equation of a guitar setup. They are typically wound for a specific EQ curve and feel. These things of course could also be achieved by EQing your setup, whether it be amps, pedals, etc. Like with many things in life, what you pay for with pickups mostly is ease of use and less time required to achieve a given sound or effect. Some pickups simply get you there quicker or easier if that makes any sense.
Pickups do not make a guitar scream. A guitar player's fingers control tone and dynamics. (that is, unless you cheat by using a heavy-duty compressor!!)
