Im a kiwi and its team new Zealand all the way, but this boat looks absolutely amazing as does the alinghi and kiwi boats. Exciting time for sailing enthusiasts all over the world, lets go 👍
Indeed, where the Kiwi pod looks a bit like a fat pig's haunch, theirs looks like a classy, classic Italian speedboat's deckhouse. I guess the question is, which looks better to the laws of physics? The other consideration is that it will be a great consolation to the Italian fan base, if they place second yet again to the kiwis on the water, if they can at least claim to come first in the fashion stakes!

You just need a crew that knows how to fly. NZ seem to have a crew like this. The boats will perform similarly I expect. The Kiwi knows how to fly. They've built a boat to cater for this skill set. All the crews are great. But NZ have shown everyone that they know how to fly a boat even in foreign waters. It's going to be biblical.
Aerodynamically very front heavy. It can be faster than ETNZ, but definitely harder to maneuver and hold steady. Alinghi is a serious contender due to more stable hull, all be it slightly slower. This year's race will be yet again, full of drama! And most important of all, this year it's full on team's race, There's not one boat that's above the rest. They are all very similar, so it's the crew that sails the boat who decides the winner. EDIT: Bcz YT took away my reply button, here's the answer: It's the front heavy design of the hull and traditional main sail traveler. Kiwi boat has more lift by design and it's more balanced. Adding to that the main sail management, where the Kiwis have the advantage of tacking with pressure on the main sail. Luna Rossa is faster on the straights, but it loses momentum in tacks, and bcz the bow has less lift, it splashes easier.
You’re perfectly right. I find very interesting the two front bulges in alinghi and their cut back. Aero-wise it opens two new flow paths for the air, typically used in F1 and never seen in a race boat! But I am curious, why do you think that the silver bullet is harder to maneuver that ETNZ?
I don't think it is the same at all. The skeg looks to have a distinct curve and tapers towards the back. The pods and deck are inbetween the kiwi boat and alinghi. The bustle has an abrupt end like Alingi.

Sub optimal foils, very retro, super conservative bustle/hull. Easy to sail, at the expense of ultimate speed, and harder to transition out of displacement mode.

Foils and helm come from the old/previous AC75. You will see the new ones in Barcelona. Italians are not stupid, to show all the novelty now.
