I love this interview with Dee Caffari. Her knowledge and passion for sailing clearly shows, i hope it encourages more people to get out there sailing ⛵️ Thanks Dee your amazing.
The technology and speed is unreal now. Also, the endurance of the people going around the world whether Jules Verne or solo is incredible as you cannot start making mistakes in the real middle of nowhere.
What I am interested in... Are the foiling tri's sailing so stable as it seems? I mean it seems the bow is almost not moving up and down. Making the sail more comfortable but a lot more wet when out on deck.
I would not call those ultimes "fragile".. i can remember a fastned, not to long ago, where gitana sailed upwind to the channel islands in 40 knots whilst de rest had a hard time getting off the solent... i think everything that goes above 20 knots for longer than just a surf is fragile. And actually if one of these breaks, it is usually a UFO and a sturdy cruising yacht also has a problem if is hits something in a surf (with a bit of speed)
Ah, the ballasted foiler nonsense. Why would anyone copy such a Rube Goldberg concept for a yacht? Doug Lord of Sailing Anarchy notoriety must be beaming with delight!
it is not foiling, it does not have the moment when just the foil is in the water, and it is quiet and smooth, instead it is loaded with sail, all loaded up, noisey!
This new trend of blatantly advertising products as a continuous part of their videos as an astute way of getting around TH-cam advertisements. I wonder when YT will catch onto this a develop a method of cutting it off - The advertisers should be paying dues to TH-cam; NOT the youtuber's channels.
I thought it was "solo" but I see film with five or six people - and how does one person sail ands still eat and sleep? Not much about the boats, lots of talking... too much in fact!
It is Solo but you can't film and sail at the same time, the clips shown when they are doing stuff were taken before they left. They only film themselves when talking and very short time. Regarding sleep and eating yes they do all that while the boat is sailing itself. 😊
Times change and America's Cup is all about innovation. Who would ever thought you could foil a monohaul 😮. I understand it's not for everyone but there is plenty more sailing action with non foiling boats to enjoy.
There is still plenty of circumnavigation done around the world of different boats with far less budget. These foiling trimaran are massive 100ft and are exciting to watch. 🎉
Dee Caffari is a legend! Good to see her presenting as well as heading up a really cool project.
Dee is amazing ... there's someone who has found what she is meant to be doing in life. You're an inspiration Dee.
Best sailing news magazine there is. Thank you.

A full tour of Raven should be in the works, I don't care about interior just the system setup
Well done for cramming so much into this episode

Be interesting to see how Raven goes in the big waves offshore. Not easy
I was going to comment on this until I saw yours. Baltic is one thing ...

Been watching Raven hitting 20knots in 14-15knot breeze this week .
Amazing!

Banque Populaire is heading for a Brazilian port again for repairs on her centerboard.
Imagine trying to sail a nomral cruising yacht averging 8-10 knots after sailing one of those beasts, it will feel like crawling
Raven is an interesting but complex yacht and i think a 111 ft non - foiling trimaran might be quicker and more practical. Just my 2 cents.
Ewako sandeq race 🎉
Phileas fogg would be impressed
🙌🙌🙌
What some luxury or privat cruising boats should having foils like racing AC. 🙈
Only a play for billionaires new toy!
is it more a an advanced cantering keel ? seems a missed opportunity

Are we talking about up wind at 20k?
For sure. High 20s. faster you go the more upwind you sail ;)
So many ad breaks
Tris are fundamentally better than monos.
3:1 better
Enjoyed that but a lot of ads.

americas cup is no longer sailing

it is ugly
Pretty lame how it’s gotten for the filthy rich
