Look up the concept of opinions. Also of all the reviewers being paid off, I can say with certainty Mack doesn't get paid. I don't even agree with all of his reviews, but there's one thing you can certainly say and that he's honest, almost to a fault.
The demo convinced not to buy it, to be brutally honest, it was a good attempt but is simply not a quality product I am happy Mack and others out there enjoy it but it's as if people are so starved for something like the good 'ol days they are letting emotions get the best of them and are leaping heart first into them looking for anything that pulls them in like the classics of yesteryear, People PREY is not the game you are looking for and when the dust settles and sanity resumes it's shaky course, history will place this game where it belongs, in the mediocre pile and the heavily discounted.
I think you've got a solid point there. I mean if we were swamped with great games, how would a game like Prey hold up in that scenario. Unfortunately that's not the world we live in, then again I completely disagreed with Mack about the Witcher 3.
From a steam reaview "My girlfriend asked why I carry a gun around the house? I looked her dead in the eye and said, "the mother♥♥♥♥ing mimics". She laughed I laughed The coffee mug laughed. I shot the coffee mug, it was a good time." bloody love it xD
Summary: It's great that at least one developer can still make good games, the last decade has been terrible if you look at the percentage of good AAA games compared to bad ones. It was getting to the stage where people were just giving any old crap 9/10 because there was nothing else to challenge it, thankfully Prey has arrived to show them there is a better way to make games. My review was as minimalist as the HUD because I did not want to spoil the game for you, yes it's one of those games that is full of little moments that make you think, wow thats so damn cool. The story is not what i expected and to even give any of it away would be a sin, it's deep, full of twists and has a few good characters to keep it moving along nicely. So instead of spoiling it all for you I chose to concentrate on the port, the controls and the gun play and they are all great. The enemy Ai is strange, I still have not figured them out, sometimes they run/teleport so damn fast towards you and other times they just stomp towards you as you fill them with lead. It's quite brutal at times. The game is not perfect but it's a step in the right direction, it still has stupid tagging that i have not been able to get rid of, I have everything switched off yet I still get that stupid bar above some enemy heads. It's not game breaking but it would be a better game without it for sure. So if you want to go back to when games were great I do suggest you pick this one up, it's a very immersive game that can be played at a really slow pace, soaking up the atmosphere, the environment and arming yourself to the teeth in the process, well done Arkane software.
Good game, but it borrows soo much from Bioshock. The setting, the upgrade system and the general feel seems almost like a lot of developers from Bioshock worked on this game. IT's good! But it's just not better than Bioshock to me because of this.
He said that it'd been since Black that he played an FPS of this caliber/type, not necessarily that it was the best FPS since Black. Though I do agree, it is kinda easy to get those meanings confused, lol
You totally misunderstood him. He said the last time he played a FPS this good his beard was still black (not grey like it is now). The game "Black" sucks and I'd be surprised if Mack even remembers it (or indeed even knew about it).
Total necro-post here but I had to say it: The very first time you exit the airlock for your first spacewalk outside of TALOS-1, and the creepy atmospheric music kicks in, and you turn around and realize the scale of the station with the Moon and Earth in the background.... That was one of my top 3 "holy shit" moments of gaming ever. Gave me absolute chills. This game is a sheer masterpiece of visuals, music and atmosphere/immersion. 10/10.
So true. Five years I stayed away from this game, I don't know why, it didn't get to me, until yesterday .There are huge moments, like you sed, when you realise how big it is, and there are little things, like sometimes enviormental fans began to rotate bcs of the tremors the station is producing , and then slowly stop. Or when you are in a security stations, with all the cameras displays, and if a Phantom is in one of the rooms, the image on that monitor is blured and distorted. Today I heard sounds from a rest room ,I opened the door and a mimic was making his way out of the toilet. It scared so much I instantly shoot the the glue gun.....AND TRAPED IT IN THE TOILET. Now I hear him scratching and making furious sounds, but he can't get out. How the developers integrated this huge number of details is beyond me. I simply can't comprehend !
They play the "yoire detected" music sting in the space ambience its so good youre always looking ariund into the blackness of space whete you cant see it But it sees you.
was hoping it was good. as like you Mack, grew up in an almost extinct era of PC gaming. heres truly hoping this game smashes records etc and gets other major developers to buck up and stop the modern COD-shite rinse repeat games, with no challenge and all the help.
could it be because of the alien bits in you that give you that little heads up? I know its not it but feel that's what they would say to avoid giving the chance to turn it off
Sadly the COD era are our kids and they are growing up more and more with pc's in a can aka consoles. Innovation is dead. Ever watch the movie "Idiocracy", sadly that's the way the world is heading.. Nuff said. Pc's are the lifeblood of the industry (games and business) having them slow down for consoles is a joke and an insult. Adding insult to injury there are even phone apps converted to play on pc.
im not actually serious/arguing but how would anyone know which direction the water is supposed to flush in space? low and no gravity. Lol reminds me of the australian simpsons episode
Well I played it 7 hours solid, I skipped a few side quests to get further into the game but now I am thinking of starting from scratch and just taking my sweet time over the entire game, it's that good.
When I played the demo of this on the PS4 and found you could pick up the controllers in the starting area.....I honestly thought to myself "bet Mack throws this in the toilet" hahahaha
was getting all cozied up for bed and decided to browse youtube on my laptop for a bit. Clicked this shit so fast. I feel like im getting ready to watch a movie
You're right Mac. This game really rewards you for your curiosity. I'm really early in the game and the first thing I did after getting out of the helicopter is seeing if I can chop my head walking back into the helicopter blades. I died and shortly after received an achievement for doing that.
I downloaded the demo on my PS4 - I didn't last 1 minute in it. The fps was so bad it was like playing a fucking slideshow - there is NO WAY it's even managing 30 on console. Because 30 sucks, but like, I can do it. This was just... unplayable. Can't wait to get it running on my PC.
About halfway through this game it dawned on me that although you find dozens of different foodstuffs, the only meat that people on Talos 1 seem to eat is eel. And then I found out what the eels have been eating haha. This game is full of incidental storytelling for the keen observer/explorer. Great stuff
For whatever reason I just couldn't quite get into the demo upon release and so hadn't bothered since. Picked it up on sale a while back for £9.99 and finally installed this week, thought I'd risk giving it another bash at that price... And man I'm about 7 hrs in now and absolutely hooked! It definitely feels like a much appreciated throwback to some of the classics - Deus Ex, System Shock 2 etc. Choosing what to level up is really agonising at times because everything feels needed, everything has a dozen locations/situations (either known or imagined) where it'd be seriously useful. Such complexity is very rare these days. A real gem.
Thank the LORD !! I almost pre ordered this today and changed my mind because i thought "i should wait to see what mack says" and now im regretting not buying it. So glad its great i'll have to buy it digital
FYI, this doesnt mean he supports pre-ordering. He's talks about this in a previous video as being a necessity for his channel to get games ASAP, and get videos out early. (you may already know the above - just thought I'd state it in case anyone thought otherwise)
Picked this up yesterday because I am a product of 90's games and I trust your opinion. 5 hours in and I am NOT disappointed. This is what we need more of!
lets be honest. Its pretty much exactly like bioshock but with different enemies. start out with a wench, open levels, no cutscenes, crafting, you got nueromods(tonics) you got the plasmids even. Then we have the tapes you can find and its in space so you cant breathe outside the station like you cant breathe outside rapture. turrets etc
Mack, I don't want to spoil anything but eventually you can find a NeuroMod blueprint. Although quite expensive, it means you are probably able to max out every perk if you're willing to put the grind in. No need for multiple characters unless you're doing one of the achievement runs.
I was on my way over to the store to pick this up when I got the notification for this video, I then sat in the car park and watched. I marched into the store and grabbed the first copy off the shelf! 👌Hoping I enjoy it as much as you did Mack
This review and description clearly shows that Mack never played the System Shock games. Give them a go Mack, do a retro review, you're gonna love them.
After trying to play the System Shock remake and getting about halfway through before getting sick of the dated navigation and level design, I reinstalled this for the first time since 2017. This is a true System Shock for the modern age, as in IMPROVED. Didn't get nearly enough credit back in the day.
Cut Scenes in game are difficult to make and expensive, people don't like it, the gaming community despise them, why developers continue making them? because they believe will sell more copies. You know developers living in their bubbles enjoying their own fantasy.
Depends on the games. Look at Uncharted 4. It's a blast of a game. Fucking linear and full of cut scenes. It's an interactive movie actually. I think it's great. And I like prey too without cut scenes. All depends on the game and the story you want to tell.
Your opinion, dude. Stop with this shit like if your opinion is the truth. Fuck you. Players in general don't hate cutscenes. Look at Yakuza games. Full of cutscenes and people love the games.
Risto Mladich The person you're mentioning is just the writer of this game. The one who made it, Raphael Colantonio was the co-director of Dishonored games
I remember dark messiah from arcane studios it was a great game. Short but so replayable. Instead of gravity gun there was a rope bow. I think I replayed that game 30+ times, could not get enough.
Just picked this up. One of the best game i've played in awhile. The exterior of Talos I though is so much fun. I wish there was a way to play this game with no monsters and just allow me to explore the space station before the aliens attacked.
Was probably already going to get this, but seeing how much it shines on you & what it looks to have taken inspiration from - I'll be picking this up without any worry. Thanks Mack!
Played the first hour on ps 4 to check it out and just finished my first hour the computer. It reminds me a lot of half life so far and that is a good thing. Morgan hmmm Gordan hmmm. Gordon sounds like Morgan - go to the test chamber. Hah ha. I use a Gtx 1070 with a i7. Everything is maxed out at 2880x1620 and it runs with out a problem. I did try 4k and it lagged. I dropped down to 2880x1620 and it went right back to running without any lag. If it weren't for Half Life 1998, I never would have got into pc gaming. I like this game and i cannot wait to play tomorrow when i get home from work. I use a xbox controller and it works really really good. i have to use a controller i have my computer hooked up to my tv so its awkward to use mouse and keyboard. The controls with a game pad are really good. i like controllers for single player games it makes it more challenging
I'm happy for y'all but when I use a controller in an FPS I feel extremely handicapped. Like I'm in a fight in a dream and my fists won't go where I want them to.
The spess stayson, shooting dem in the fess. The English have some of the coolest accents. :) Great review, appreciate it. Merry Christmas everyone, hope ya´ll get to have a great Christmas holiday and an epic New Year.
Bought this in 2017. Played it for an hour or so, then left it for awhile. Now in 19, fired it up again. Wow, this game is fantastic. Reminds me of Thief and Deus Ex. This is the game experience I want, climbing, sneaking, shooting and discovery. Best game of the decade.
Just finished the game, and oh boy did I enjoyed it . I fully understand now why it was compared to System Shock 2. The ambience is very similar, as are the game mecanics. A full fps expérience with zero cutscene, all the storytelling is done through the eye of the player as HL have done it so many years ago. I never hoped to see a game as good as SS2 nowadays. I almost feel sorry for not buying it full price to reward and encourage the devs. Arkhane really is one of the best studio for single player fps games around. And, as a frog myself, I'm glad that there is an other big studio in France other than Ubisoft.
Yo Mac, might have an explination to the sensorbar through enemies heads for you to keep an eye on to see if it stays true. In your example at 14 mins in, the enemy pops in because its behind an object that is covered in alphas. Alphas are used to to define transparency. There are two types of alphas, cutout, and blended. Cutout leaves sharp edges on your alpha, but its an "on off" style transprancy if you imagine the plane that it is drawn on. This can detect depth and wont let other alphas behind it draw. aka the health bar above the critters head. However with vegetation, they will use blended or dithered, which will give soft edges and make the plants look better. This can sort its depth between meshes, so that plants behind each other work, but if that monster is within the bounding box of the plant, the engine will not know which is "behind" because theyre two seperate objects, and as a result the health bar renders through the plant giving the alien away. TLDR; Do the healthbars always pop up when they're behind or inside objects with transparency?
No not always, some say it's due to the prompts being on but I had mine turned off half way through the game and it made no difference, I am going to try it again now as I have a feeling you have to restart the game for them to work properly
Damn I love this game! Coming here from your Ghostwire Tokyo video and I'm wondering why they couldn't accomplish this level of depth 5 years later on a next gen console
I also view Prey 2017 as one of the VERY FEW, like I'm talking less than I can count on 1 hand, games post 2010 that are actually up to the design standards of the 90s-2000s. It's so, so, soooooooo good. No other game post 2010 has made it into my top 10 (if I had one on paper) but Prey 100% occupies a slot there, maybe even in my top 5. It is EXCEPTIONALLY well made. Raphaël Colantonio (development lead of Prey) is working on another immersive sim (TBA, no title yet) so I suggest keeping tabs on him if you or anyone here really enjoyed Prey 2017.
Picked up this game for Xbox last Black Friday for only 15 bucks. Been playing other games and didn't get around to playing till now, but I've spent the last 3 days only playing this. I restarted it on nightmare mode and I'm over 9 hours in and I still just barely started the psychotronics level because I spend so much time reading all the emails, trying to get into all the different offices and labs because the rewards you can get seem like they're totally worth it to pursue, I'm trying to figure out the perks its actually really interesting because the game doesn't spoil you with perk points I really feel like I have to choose strategically because I've been really good at conserving ammo I've been able to save my crafting materials to make the really good stuff. The way they feed you the story is really gradual and all the time I'm kind of trying to guess or figure out what's really happening. Yes the story does feel a little familiar but the way the whole game is put together the sounds the movement the combat the exploration the perk system. also the game doesn't flood you with enemies like some other games the rather when you first encounter certain types of enemies you really feel like it's a battle and a struggle to figure out how to beat them with what you have close the game gives you so many different choices and methods to take care of the enemies or you can literally sneak by or Run away. definitely one of the best 15 bucks I've ever spent lol
Alex dillard Valvae actually fucked up the graphics in Half Life 2 back in 2010 amd couldn't be bothered to fix it. I also hate Half Life and Half Life 2.
NVM I just realised what you meant, the likes/dislikes, yeah I must have accidentally disabled it when I went through my upload defaults again due to another TH-cam interface change this week.
I just realized this was made by the guys who made Dishonored. Totally makes sense why the controls feel the way they do. Might have to pick this one up!
Seeing you praise this game has me very excited. Especially if you're comparing it to Half Life, BioShock, and Alien Isolation. I've heard someone else mention it reminds them of the newer Deus Ex games a bit. These are all things I love. Thanks Mac for the review, so quickly too.
It doesn't seem like he finishes a game before reviewing often. Some people will complain about that, but if a game doesn't seem enjoyable in the first few hours it's rare that it will redeem itself later on.
They Game has Iron Sights, its just they are not needed because the Game has very accurate hip firing, the ADS is, at best, just a graphical effect that makes it easier to pull of a headshot from half a mile away. which is what they should be. this is a PC Game, it is controlled with a Mouse, ADS is simply just not needed below 300Meters as a result.
Wow that bias. In other reviews you would be mad about having to stick sth into your eye to increase your backpacksize. I get that you're hyped and happy about this but I would have expected you to complain about it and not say just deal with it.
The whole game is based around genetic research, the neuromods that you can upgrade with actually increase carry weight, not backpack size. This allows you to lift heavier objects and increases inventory size. A mistake on Mack's part. (i only played the demo and know this)
Yeah but what i meant was that you can actually carry more objects when it's clearly impossible to carry that many objects as you have literally no place to put them. I have a huge backpack due to spending point son it and there is no way I could carry that much, it's nothing to do with strength, I would actually need a cart. I am not going to thumb a game down this good because of that though Shiina
Just seen the UK sales figures for boxed games (none digital sales). This has not sold very well. Real shame as I had high hopes for Prey after watching your review and some others. Will still pick it up myself. Reminds me of Titanfall 2, another great game which didn't do as well as it deserved.
Game footage giving me System Shock and/or Deus Ex vibes. Could it be GOTY? Assuming there isn't some indie shit about lesbians that the games 'journalists' will circlejerk over
Mack, you keep making similarities with Half-Life, suggesting it's the only game of its kind since. It absolutely isn't. From my time with the demo I thought it was much closer in tone and gameplay to BioShock - only nowhere near as good. I think your eagerness to play a game which allows you to experience the story around you and not have your hand held the entire time has perhaps clouded your judgement a tad. Hey, if a game like this does well and leads to more games of a similar ilk, I'm all for it. For me personally I wasn't very immersed, I found the melee combat very basic and gunplay nothing to write home about. As for the creature design, it's awful - laughably bad even. It was this aspect alone which didn't allow me to become invested. Btw COD WWII doesn't have regenerating health (as you assumed) and will involve Medics instead. Whereas you gave Prey the benefit of the doubt and not COD WWII, you may be pleasantly surprised. Let's hope cut scenes are kept to a minimum and you get to experience it...
I actually liked the aliens, they are different to most game monsters, I learnt that running away is not a good idea, they are so damn fast and hit like a freight train, it's not an easy game imo.
Each to their own Mack, I was reminded of the black smoke monster from LOST. Whilst I liked the 'mimic' capability of the creatures, which helped build some tension, the player having the same ability is too silly for my liking - even for a video game. I do think creature design is very important, perfectly highlighted by the effect of HR Giger's alien. The monsters in Prey look like my 9 year-old daughter drawn them! Actually that's doing her a disservice. I found the art style in general to be weak, which is where my comparison with BioShock ends - which had great art.
The preview really wasn't representative of the whole experience, as its really when you dont have alot of neuromods/powers and the station doesn't open up yet, which is when the game becomes amazing.
The first 2/3's of this game are very good, the last 1/3 is garbage. The difficulty is amped up by multiplying the enemies by 10 fold, lazy design and took the game from great to average for me.
radialdrift I felt like a god in the last 1/3 of the game, even the more powerful enemies were just melting in front of my shotgun. The ending was just rushed but I found it much, much easier than the beginning of the game.
I was looking for something similar to Bioshock and came across this. There are a few comparisons to it and watching your review I'm looking forward to playing it.
An nice thumbs up from you Mack, I can really tell you are enjoying the game.Your recommendation does sway me, I'll check some other reviews and will be sure to use your link if I do decide to get it :) Thanks for the review
Downloaded the game last night on the PC after watching this, Really enjoying it so far. Thank you for the review. I am running the game on a i5 2500k and a R9 290x at 1440p with high settings and it runs and looks great, Very well polished
Going through a stage of playing games I've missed(never played)over the years, and have been using your channel as a pointer. Played some absolute gems mate including this one. Great channel, cheers mate
wow, I never thought I'd see the day where Mac compares a game to half life 2 in a positive way
RoughTide He did with Titanfall 2
Half life 2 was garbage...

She laughed
I laughed
The coffee mug laughed.

saw the original comment on steamXD
Anders Bergström sounds like a moron wrote that steam review

Such a treat after the steak and potatoes of Dishonored 2
Is this better or worse than Dishonored 2?
Worth A Buy does this game take long to finish

Someone never played System Shock.
To get rid of the enemy tags you guys have to turn off prompts and tutorials just so ya now know
MrSmokeythepancake up you go, mate :)
Thanks!
I have had them turned off for hours and I still get them.
You need to use a controller to access the special option to turn off tags
Yeah and you can only turn off enemy tags fully if you play in 3rd person.
"The best FPS i have played since Half Life"
- Mack 2017 on Prey
He said that it'd been since Black that he played an FPS of this caliber/type, not necessarily that it was the best FPS since Black.
Though I do agree, it is kinda easy to get those meanings confused, lol
He said the last time he played a dedicated made for pc game his beard was black and now it's grey
And none of this port from console shite!
You totally misunderstood him. He said the last time he played a FPS this good his beard was still black (not grey like it is now). The game "Black" sucks and I'd be surprised if Mack even remembers it (or indeed even knew about it).
fov sliders in this pc edition?
there are workarounds, it spossible

0/10. No physics to flush an Andy Sixx logg. Time to kms.
Your toilet can flush a console controller? That's cool.
LOL
Mac actually sounded giddy. Like he couldn't wait another second to get this WAB out. Picking it up tomorrow
when mack gets this excited you know the game is actually worth a buy :)
Well I played it 7 hours solid, I skipped a few side quests to get further into the game but now I am thinking of starting from scratch and just taking my sweet time over the entire game, it's that good.
Worth A Buy thank you so much. I had a lot of second thoughts regarding this game but I'm buying it
I'm enjoying the shit out of it and Mack is the fucking man! I trust his reviews over all the others.
Elekto Martius Look at his other reviews ya mook.
Prey looks like modern re-imagining of System Shock 2. After watching this video im even tempted to buy the game for full price.
yes, you are my bro potatoeOnRooftop :D
exactly.
Maviard IV It started as an official system shock prequel, actually.
It definitely has a lot of things in common with Half-Life, System Shock 2 and Deus Ex HR..
You're right, we must reward companies that put out good games that take a few chances and a slick release.
6 hours in now and I'm absolutely loving it. Enjoyed Prey 2006 but this is something different in a good way.
When I played the demo of this on the PS4 and found you could pick up the controllers in the starting area.....I honestly thought to myself "bet Mack throws this in the toilet" hahahaha
lol
Can read you like a bewk now Mack ;)
May have to get this now. Thanks for the review and also for supporting games that break the norm
Break the norm by copying every popular game of the last ten years.
was getting all cozied up for bed and decided to browse youtube on my laptop for a bit. Clicked this shit so fast. I feel like im getting ready to watch a movie
Console brigade member, this game is the tits. No regrets on buying it, and I think it's going to be this gens bioshock/half life.
Had to come back after the Redfall review
Flushing the controller down the bog. LOL!
whats the matter, it effect your console fanboy-isum
IT was a message to console peasants ;)
You're right Mac. This game really rewards you for your curiosity. I'm really early in the game and the first thing I did after getting out of the helicopter is seeing if I can chop my head walking back into the helicopter blades. I died and shortly after received an achievement for doing that.
wait, you can flush a controller down the toilet in this game? im buying this shit immediately
Канал имени товарища Ягоды throwing away a mouse would also be cool :)
Lol. Controller flushed in the shitter. Perfect :)
Also if I remember correctly Arkane said this was made for PC then for consoles.
Yeah it shows, game is very slick with mouse and keyboard.
William Brinkman Damn, that's surprising. I knew that the consoles processing power aren't very powerful but 30 fps sounds insane!! I'm surprised!
Xbox 1S runs buttery smooth POS4 LMFAO!!!!!! That's your problem
as someone who played on a shitty laptop for a really long time 30 fps isn't all that bad.
0:51 - Yep, you can tell mack is playing this lol (controller)
You're not serious are you??
As in controller flushed down toilet, check the time stamp
About halfway through this game it dawned on me that although you find dozens of different foodstuffs, the only meat that people on Talos 1 seem to eat is eel. And then I found out what the eels have been eating haha. This game is full of incidental storytelling for the keen observer/explorer. Great stuff
The weapon design style here is fantastic. I love the little turbo-looking thing on the side of the GLOO Gun
A real gem.
Just finished my first playthrough after watching your review Mack! Absolutely phenomenal!
Is there an alien that turns you into Dwayne Dibley?
I don't even game, found you through my boyfriend, but your accent and the things you say are awesome/hilarious. You from around Newcastle?
Close to Durham
Worth A Buy I guess not too awful a guess for an American then aha. Thanks for reply.
will you do a play-through for us????
When you threw the controller in the toilet you gained a subscriber for life! :D
This is waaaay better than IGN's shit review. You've earned a sub.
CyberRonin 4/10 - not a ps4 exclusive
Thank the LORD !! I almost pre ordered this today and changed my mind because i thought "i should wait to see what mack says" and now im regretting not buying it. So glad its great i'll have to buy it digital
You preordered this game didnt you MacXD? I see that shotgun skin
FYI, this doesnt mean he supports pre-ordering. He's talks about this in a previous video as being a necessity for his channel to get games ASAP, and get videos out early.
(you may already know the above - just thought I'd state it in case anyone thought otherwise)
he preorders most of the games for the purpose of getting the review out as soon as possible.
ie. what i said
He was given a key, so no, he didn't
Nope I got a pre release 9 hours before the actual release, that is how I got the review out early :)
Watching this in 2023! Just started the game and I love it !
Picked this up yesterday because I am a product of 90's games and I trust your opinion. 5 hours in and I am NOT disappointed. This is what we need more of!
I know it’s an old vid pal but been watching some of your backlog and want say thanks for your recommendation on this game. It’s fantastic.
Amazing game.. They should have named it Neuroshock to save the 2006 Prey diehards the heartache.
Nice to hear Mack!! Got it today and I'm playing it now. Sweet!!!
lmao the controller in the toilet
lets be honest. Its pretty much exactly like bioshock but with different enemies. start out with a wench, open levels, no cutscenes, crafting, you got nueromods(tonics) you got the plasmids even. Then we have the tapes you can find and its in space so you cant breathe outside the station like you cant breathe outside rapture. turrets etc
Great review, thanks Mac - downloadin on Steam right now!
Mack, I don't want to spoil anything but eventually you can find a NeuroMod blueprint. Although quite expensive, it means you are probably able to max out every perk if you're willing to put the grind in. No need for multiple characters unless you're doing one of the achievement runs.
Well, you've convinced me! I'm going to pick this up.
I was on my way over to the store to pick this up when I got the notification for this video, I then sat in the car park and watched. I marched into the store and grabbed the first copy off the shelf! 👌Hoping I enjoy it as much as you did Mack
cool story bro ;) no it actually is :)
Mack keep up the stunning work, my wallet is happy because of you, cheers.
This review and description clearly shows that Mack never played the System Shock games.
Give them a go Mack, do a retro review, you're gonna love them.
damn Mack how so fast??? thank god its good im off to buy it
I got a press copy 9 hours before the game released, it's the first AAA press copy I have had for bloody ages and this was the one I wanted.
Congrats man, good for you! Hope it happens more often! Btw, ordering it online via Green Man Gaming as soon as I finish typing this ...
Worth A Buy I thought Bethesda weren't handing out review copies
After trying to play the System Shock remake and getting about halfway through before getting sick of the dated navigation and level design, I reinstalled this for the first time since 2017. This is a true System Shock for the modern age, as in IMPROVED. Didn't get nearly enough credit back in the day.
Just downloaded it on Steam....I hope the ultrawide support is taken seriously.
how is it on ultrawide?????
I was just asking to see if the gameplay was good on 21x9...I have learned to live with black bars in menu, cutscenes etc.
Thanks Mac, great review. Purchased and playing this for the first time in 2021, great game.
Cut Scenes in game are difficult to make and expensive, people don't like it, the gaming community despise them, why developers continue making them? because they believe will sell more copies. You know developers living in their bubbles enjoying their own fantasy.
I love cut scenes
cut scenes reduce thumb muscle sprains.
Depends on the games. Look at Uncharted 4. It's a blast of a game. Fucking linear and full of cut scenes. It's an interactive movie actually. I think it's great. And I like prey too without cut scenes. All depends on the game and the story you want to tell.
I think cutscenes are great in more narrative-driven, cinematic games where gameplay isn't as much of a priority.
Your opinion, dude. Stop with this shit like if your opinion is the truth. Fuck you.
Players in general don't hate cutscenes.
Look at Yakuza games. Full of cutscenes and people love the games.
Forgot about this game until you brought it up during your stream the other day. Thanks 👍
prey is gud because the guy who made prey is also the guy who helped make Fallout new vegas which i would say was the game of the decade GOD "2000s"
It had telekinesis though. You know. The spell where he puts his hands up in front the screen, all bent and f***d. lol
This game really looks like a mix to several different other games, namely Deus Ex, Bioshock and Half-life.
Just picked this up. One of the best game i've played in awhile. The exterior of Talos I though is so much fun. I wish there was a way to play this game with no monsters and just allow me to explore the space station before the aliens attacked.
Played game best game in years well optimized on pc and consoles
Great review, appreciate it.
Merry Christmas everyone, hope ya´ll get to have a great Christmas holiday and an epic New Year.
Finally a review where Mack and I can agree on lol. Brilliant work!
Thanks for being so fast with this WAB, Mack. Really appreciate it! 👌
Just bought the game Mack. I trust your judgment and your honesty never change mate.
"It feels just like a 90s game" *enormous weapon wheel fills the entire screen*
Enormous weapon wheel filled with the enormous amount of two whole guns. *curb your enthusiasm music plays*
This is one of the best games I played in my life! best of 2017 for sure!
Fair, was just a speculation on the issue as i've seen it plenty at work. Suffice to say, you've convinced me to give Prey a try :D
The crosshair being off center annoys me 2/10
Not enough kevin spacey, DLC and cowbell 2/10
XXXTENTACION is Naruto No Exosuits or X-Ray vision either? What a pile of rubbish.
Reminds me of halo 3
Damn you! I didn't even notice until you mentioned it.
yeah, why is that a thing ? jeez
Damn I love this game! Coming here from your Ghostwire Tokyo video and I'm wondering why they couldn't accomplish this level of depth 5 years later on a next gen console
You're the reason I'm buying this game. Hope it's not shit
I got this on PS4 and loved it.
Yes the story does feel a little familiar but the way the whole game is put together the sounds the movement the combat the exploration the perk system. also the game doesn't flood you with enemies like some other games the rather when you first encounter certain types of enemies you really feel like it's a battle and a struggle to figure out how to beat them with what you have close the game gives you so many different choices and methods to take care of the enemies or you can literally sneak by or Run away. definitely one of the best 15 bucks I've ever spent lol
please do a retro review of the orange box
Alex dillard Valvae actually fucked up the graphics in Half Life 2 back in 2010 amd couldn't be bothered to fix it.
I also hate Half Life and Half Life 2.
Azzalack this reviewer likes half life 2
Glad to hear this one is getting back to basics and taking it to the current year. You have swayed my wallet, sir.
Why are ratings disabled, Mack?
What ratings?
NVM I just realised what you meant, the likes/dislikes, yeah I must have accidentally disabled it when I went through my upload defaults again due to another TH-cam interface change this week.
Because Noobtube.
MrChievious because you touch yourself
Worth A Buy Thanks for clarifying! Great review as always.
I just realized this was made by the guys who made Dishonored. Totally makes sense why the controls feel the way they do. Might have to pick this one up!
It gives me half life and BioShock vibes
Seeing you praise this game has me very excited. Especially if you're comparing it to Half Life, BioShock, and Alien Isolation. I've heard someone else mention it reminds them of the newer Deus Ex games a bit.
These are all things I love. Thanks Mac for the review, so quickly too.
Didnt you say titanfall 2 is the best game since half life 2
He said not since half life 2 had he enjoyed a campaign so much... and frankly he had a point lol
I mean he already forgot about TF 2 :D
Currently at £26 on Amazon already. I think I'll buy this it looks good and right up my street.
Lol IGN just gave this amazing game a 4/10
TheLittleDetails CR 4/10 - is not call of duty
Because of save being deleted. Hmm ok
Sick! just bopped the buy button then 10mins later saw this was uploaded. Glad it gets that Mack seal of approval :)
Not gonna lie, did NOT expect this game to be any good but fuck me was i wrong
Because someone told you? It could still suck.
Loving the sound and look of this game.
"Take your time" *finishes the game and uploads a review of it the same day its released*
It doesn't seem like he finishes a game before reviewing often. Some people will complain about that, but if a game doesn't seem enjoyable in the first few hours it's rare that it will redeem itself later on.
Mr Sunshine doesn't mean he didn't take his time. *this is his job*
Mikael Mazjitro it was just a joke if your gona take it serious thats your problem
usully reviewers get games early to release reviews near launch
RedShiftJellyfish this game had no review copies
i do play it on a console and I can't recall loving a game this much despite the cinematic 30 fps😋
no IRON SIGHTS ? WTF ??!?!?
They Game has Iron Sights, its just they are not needed because the Game has very accurate hip firing, the ADS is, at best, just a graphical effect that makes it easier to pull of a headshot from half a mile away. which is what they should be. this is a PC Game, it is controlled with a Mouse, ADS is simply just not needed below 300Meters as a result.
I pissed myself when Mack flushed the console remote down the toilet
Worth A Buy Wow you answered. Made my day. I'm sorry if what I said sounds condescending.
Assuming there isn't some indie shit about lesbians that the games 'journalists' will circlejerk over
you shouldn't talk that way about Hipster Effect Andromeda XD
" Stick something in your eye and somehow it makes your backpack bigger"... 10/10 will do that again! LOL
Simon Brandy Prey is a great deal better than Bioshock. Yet clearly inspired by it. This game is amazing
Bioshock better than Prey? Ha! That's a laugh
The preview really wasn't representative of the whole experience, as its really when you dont have alot of neuromods/powers and the station doesn't open up yet, which is when the game becomes amazing.
I gotta say that the console version controls and plays excellently. The only technical downside is that the loading times can be too long
The first 2/3's of this game are very good, the last 1/3 is garbage.
An nice thumbs up from you Mack, I can really tell you are enjoying the game.Your recommendation does sway me, I'll check some other reviews and will be sure to use your link if I do decide to get it :)
Thanks for the review
Seeing enemies through walls, sounds like you've tagged them with your scope.
