I wish all plugin developers were more like Steve. It's easy to see he has tremendous passion in his work....it's clearly much more passion based than money based with Steve. Serum is dirt cheap and amazing for what you get. Not only that be he himself personally responds to his customers for tech support ALOT....and even for questions beyond tech support. For example Steve helped me create additional "squarify" formulas for Serum on the Xfer forum. I wanted several versions of "Squarify" (Squarify 25%, 50%, etc..) that would remove just a percentage of the even harmonics instead of removing all of them like the default multi formula "Squarify" would. Steve responded and gave me the formula to do exactly that. Since then I've broken down what he did so I can apply a percentage to the rest of the formulas available in the "Formula Parser".
Yup, I love that the developer of the most badass synth ever devised on the entire planet, answers my questions, problems and suggestions within hours!

Watching this video, and a stream of Joel using it, makes you understand how electronic music works, and now, when you hear music, you actually relate the graph visuals to what you hear, you see the spread of the voices, the morphing from Saw to Sine, the line travelling along the filter curve rapidly before looping... It makes you realize how much is going on in there.

LFO Tool has also replaced WOW2 Filter as my go to filter plugin in most cases. The fact that LFO Tool can midi trigger it's filter sweeps is enough to give it a huge edge...let alone the sheer number of filters it has and the ability to draw in custom shapes. When I bought WOW2 I was shocked that you couldn't trigger envelopes and Retrigger LFO's with midi or audio.
Steve if you see this PLEASE make a iOS version of Serum! PLEASE!!! Synthmaster is called that because once you buy their synth you become their slave.
This guy is a MEGA player and still took time to answer my total NOOB question when I bought SERUM a couple weeks ago. He's like nerd Superman...lol FYI: I now know how to work about 6% of SERUM but I can say with confidence, if you don't own it, your life has no meaning! It's freakin' amazing!! It is worth the piddly little $189 they charge. LOL I remember buying a KORG M-1 rack mount for 1100 bucks long ago. The amount of synth you get for a fraction of the cost is mind blowing.

Serum is the more powerful modern version of Massive. But Massive still has its unique weird things that make it great and unique even now. Things you don't notice unless you know Massive inside and out and can compare it to other synths that you know equally well. For example Massive's "Frequency Shifter" insert effect is totally unique compared to other synths. Frequency Shifters don't EVER keytrack...but Massive's does. You can detune the frequency shifter down in Massive to a specific frequency to create that extra gritty flabby nature in basses and it will hold that nature no matter what note u play. Usually with Frequency Shifters you can only play the single note you detune it against bc when you change notes on the keyboard it throws off the detune. Anyways...got long winded.
yes, although when steve duda said "why that one, you didnt even let it finish playing" it was probably cuz like steve said joel knew the sound of the kick he wanted, and he probably wasnt listening for that sound but rather he knew what that kick's wave form would look like and he must have been looking at the space where it shows the waveform of the sample you click on.
@@JusAGuyPassinBy You can't tell how a kick sounds just by looking at the waveform. Waveform shows gain over time, but it doesn't show frequency distribution.
