I just picked up my brand new 31’s that I traded my old 31’s for today. This new set is 2800 FOM with 38 snr so I’m stoked. My old set hit the minimum spec L3 sends out on 31’s
Hey, how much did you have to pay per tube with those specs?
@@santanagamingcinema well I paid $13.7k for my first set, had them almost a year and then paid $2,200 boot to get the new ones. You can get those specs at the original 13.7k so basically around $5,000 a tube
@@lukeflaugher5334 okay thanks for that. I thought they would be around low 4,000 a piece. I guess I will need to save up more. I wanted to buy nods but I have never owned any before. I saw a set but no specs list were advertised, just L3 Harris mx10160 gen 3 white phosphor UM. I wasn't sure if it would have good specs like yours for the listed price. 2800 FOM... that's pretty damn good quality. Hats off to you.
@@santanagamingcinema what I am quoting you is for pvs 31’s. You can buy any housing with L3 unfilmed tubes and quite possibly have better specs than mine for way less cost. L3 unfilmed tubes average around 3500 a piece usually. Don’t put a whole lot of thought into FOM either. It does not tell the whole story of tube performance. Plenty of lower FOM tubes out performing higher FOM tubes. All the specs coming together makes for good tube performance
To add to that, I’m not saying lower FOM tubes as in way lower. I’m meaning their is 2500 FOM tubes that can put perform a 28-2900 FOM tube. FOM is SNR multiplied by line pair resolution. The LPR is not nowhere near as important as SNR. I would much rather have a tube with 38 SNR and 64 Resolution at 2,432 FOM as a tube with 32 SNR and 81 Resolution with 2,592 FOM

Great point about the in/under FOV through the tubes. RNVG face the same problem as the GPNVG of lacking articulation and moving weight into a weird center of gravity when flipped up. But, to me, in a general collapse scenario, sending the potential fail points like contact switches and polymer pivot points for warranty repair on a 6-month RMA is not going to be an option....
Also RNVG are all metal housings. My 2 cents. And by 2 cents I mean $8000.

Yes sir, that was back in 2009. I was on leave visiting my mom back home in Hawaii. Crazy thing is that dude was 20 lbs over my weight but the dude I was supposed to fight was a no show. I was stoked to just get in the ring so I agreed to the fight.
