Enjoyed "Captain Victory", but I couldn't understand the time-line. Assumed issues #1-6 happened on present-day Earth. Yet, Victory's backstory must have happened decades or even longer in the past. So, while the Blackmass/Darkseid issues were interesting. They couldn't really be tied to "The New Gods" since those stories were set in the 1970s. I viewed it as a similar history in a parallel universe.
There are references to Quadrant-X, where the gods reside, existing on a different time scale, so Blackmass and his family could live out several generations in the ten years between New Gods and Captain Victory.
I love the chick's helmet at 2:59... Jack's costume designs seem so effortless and entirely intuitive. And then we never see her again!
