Little update, did my valves and boom the bike fires right up idles revs up all of it, I appreciate all the videos you made and all the help, I’m sure I’ll have more questions as I go to ride it later but for now everything is perfect, thank you again
Thanks for the tip on making the adjusting tool from a screw . Just did my Bandit1200 valves and wish I had seen your video first . Tried some screws for fit since I still have the cover off and they work . I did use the needle nose like in the Haynes manual and it is way more awkward than if you had the correct tool . I fortunately did not chew up any adjuster ends .
Helpful to see this done on video. I’d strongly recommend learning the names of the tools, and other parts. Saying place the tool on the “tappet” sounds much better than “putting the thing on the thing”
I completely agree. After recording my videos I look back and cringe sometimes because of this. When I'm filming it takes so many hours that I don't reshoot unless something is very wrong because of how long it takes. I actually know the names of the tools/parts but forget to mention names when filming and sometimes I leave parts out because I try to keep the videos short. The next video I make will definitely have mentioned names of parts/tools.
@@Service-y7e I don’t think it has the same clearances but I’m sure it has the same firing order. Sorry I couldn’t help more. I recommend a Haynes manual for the 600 for the clearances
I'm having issues with hot starts, the engine just doesn't want to fire up so my first thought is valves are too tight. It runs mint just hates hot starts, Just a fyi. Now I know what I'm in for ill tackle it asap.
just an update in case others have the same issue. I did my valves and the exhaust side was a little tight. after setting everything the hot start issue continued. it turns out it was corroded earth wires, both the large one attached to motor and smaller for ignition. so when it was hot and I tried to start the motor the starter would rob all the power and the resistance through the failed wires couldn't cope. it would just wind over but not fire. always push started fine though. new earths cables fixed it right up.
@@lenny0347 If your having problems with wires aging that badly I recommend you check out my video about the coil relay mod. Might end up getting a little stronger spark and closer to how the plugs performed new.
I used an allen key/ hex key. It’s annoying to reinstall and remove those ones every time but it’s all you can do unless you drop the engine from the frame which is way more of a hassle.
Hello i have have a cuestion i burning many times the spark plugs on my suzuki katan 750 cc i think is the foul of the oil i have consumed more then 1 liter oil. Is motul 10W40 7100 the wright size what type of oil do you use Ore is this a fould of my engine I need to make valve adjustment like you do ?
It's possible you might want to adjust your valves but if your burning a lot of oil something else is wrong. Could be that your engine is simply too worn out.
@@suzukikatanamechanic5842 I know, but the 2 valves (with its own adjustment screws) share the same rocker which uses the same lobe, see 4.08? How do i know I've adjusted both the screws equally because I suspect each adjuster is set differently
@@TheQuimlicker I'm going to try and simplify the steps. 1. make sure the cams are in the right spot. 2. make sure neither of the rocker adjustment parts are actively keeping a valve open. (doesn't have to be correct yet, just not pushing) to do this, loosen the one pushing on the valve. 3. Now set the correct gap on both valves. (nothing should be directly pushing a valve open), The adjustment screws shouldn't be the exact same distance in. They adjust based on the specific valve. Sure they have the same rocker, but this only means pressure is applied at the exact same time. adjusting the gap and having it the same allows for 1 valve to open the same amount as the valve next it. Or so that a valve isn't always slightly open because their is no gap.
@@trueamerican1576 at the end of the day it really could a a million things causing an incorrect idle. I think I was able to. On my end I think all I have to do is label the video as "English" in the TH-cam settings. Then it should do the automatic translation like you saw in my other video. If this didn't work let me know. If you need to use one of my other videos let me know and I'll fix them too.

Any idea if the 600s valve clearence would be the same? (Edit, i found out they are different lmao the 600s are .004-.006 for both intake and exhaust)
Wondering, do you know if the 600 engine needs the same clearances and has the same firing order/pistons at the same top dead center? Thanks

Is it necessary to remove carbs to do this job?
Not at all. I was adjusting the valves in this video after reassembling the engine so I have lots of unnecessary things off.
Great vid thankyou

Hi, Could you describe how to balance balance both valves on a single lobe? Is there a trick to it?
I think you need to look a little closer. Each “lobe” has 2 adjustment parts for each valve.
