The B-21 will be flying missions just as long as the B-2...which often launch from the USA to deliver bombs to targets on other continents, and then land back in the USA with several aerial refuellings along the way. The carrying capacity of the B-21 Raider is reportedly going to be about half the load of the B-2 Spirit...the B-2 can carry about 40k pounds or more of bombs at once...it can carry 2 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs...while the B-21 is expected to be able to carry about 20k pounds of ordinance at one time...or one MOP. As I understand it, the B-21 will have a single bomb bay with one rotary launcher, whereas the B-2 had 2 bays each with a rotary launcher.
I really doubt that 40k is the actual payload considering the F15 is listed at 29.5k and B1 at 75k. Probably wont find out if its true or not until decades later when it becomes unclassified.
@@Nick-sx6jm With the B-2...and the upcoming B-21...the load is less about the actual weight, and much more about the space in the bay and on the rotary launcher. B-2 can carry 2 MOP bombs, so the heaviest load the B-2 is known to carry is 54,250 pounds, but that load requires the removal of the rotary launchers. For pretty much everything else, the limit is how much space their is on the launcher. B-2 carry 80 500lb bombs, which is a load of 40k pounds...so well below the B-2's actual maximum capacity.
@@Appreciation-Community Not according to currently available information...no, the B-2 has not been tested to carry the MALD. But since the MALD is not a "stealth" decoy, they generally would not even consider using it on the B-2. The other issue is that they generally do not use cruise missiles on the B-2 either, since it is designed to get in close and the cruise missiles are standoff weapons. In general, the Air Force puts cruise missiles on the B-52, and the B-1...but saves the B-2 for the missions it is best suited for. So in the case of a MALD/cruise missile combo, you would see that on the non-stealth planes, and the B-2 would be operating from another direction to take advantage of the defenders being distracted by the MALDs and missiles launched by the other bombers.
20:50 most of the combat operations the B-2 has been used on, originated in the US flown to the Middle East dropped its bombs and flew back to the US. Those missions usually lasted over 20 hours and help the crews train on their primary mission of dropping nuclear bombs over enemy territory.
My dad was one of the lead engineers working on the F-22 and the F-35 when they were in development. He talked all the time about how annoying it was to work with classified documents lol. Now when I say “lead engineer” I mean he was either a higher up engineer or engineering manager for the parts he was responsible for since the plane’s parts designs were split between different teams across different bases and plants across all of Lockheed Martin and outside of it as well for other parts they weren’t fully responsible for. He has some cool stories but there’s still plenty of classified things he hasn’t told me about.
Pretty much all radar cross-sections available to the public are only rough guesses and the actual numbers are a bit more complex. The actual radar cross-section depends on the angle you're directing the radar. In other words, there are probably angles where the B2 has a better or worse radar report than other stealth aircraft, but B2 is generally considered to be stealthier than the F-22 and F-35 fighters due to its lack of vertical stabilizers. Also, the longest mission in a B2 bomber was 44 hours, the longest bombing mission in history... so, no, maximum is definitely not 6-7 hours. They can refuel in air so as long as the pilots are alert and it has scheduled refueling it can fly indefinitely.
The B-21 will have alot more of a focus on Electronic Warfare capabilities than the B-2 and be further data linked with new aircraft and other weapon systems.
Watching B2's do some 'touch and go's' in Hawaii was a surreal treat. In profile your thinking what the heck is that, and then it banks off to one side, you see it's underside and it sends a shiver down your spine

I worked on this thing. I will always remember one of the "motivational posters" we had on the wall in the office. It was a picture of one of our aircraft flying over a desert with the words: "Plausible Deniablility: The only proof you'll ever have that we were there is a giant hole in the ground where something used to be" I genuinely loved that poster.
When they last went to the middle east (Houthis raid) they flew from Missouri USA ( which is where it's based), and I do believe the flight time was 31 hours. Just like our other large bombers they have long flight times, when they are used...usually. Remember the spot for the air mattress? I think the ONLY place they land is their home base as well, at least so far.
I believe the B2 and the F22 have about the same size cross section, because fighters have to be maneuverable, so it is more difficult to make them stealthy, the B2 is not meant to make maneuvers, it relies on it's stealth to remain undetected
Very similar but the f22 is still a good bit smaller The b2 is also a way larger than the f22 so that’s part of it. The f22 is also newer. So between being smaller and newer it makes sense that it’s RCS is smaller than that of the b2
One of the main gold with the B21 was to cut down on both pecurment cost and maintanace. The new stealth coating is speciallt made to be more durable so it should cut down the cost quite a bit. The newet plane is also quite a bit smaller and generaly more efficent. The concept was that its really not that often a full bombload is needed for a B2 so its often flow with half load. Making the B21 smaller just cuts cost.
One key thing about Radar cross section it's dependent on a whole bunch of things. The two big ones I'll focus on are aspect angle (Head on, from side, behind, etc) and radar wavelength. The F-22 and F-35 may have lower radar cross sections head on then the B-2, but once you start going to the side the story changes a lot! Also F-22/F-35 are more worried about shorter wave length targeting radars, the B-2 is more stealthy against a much wider range of wavelengths.

When you have time, check out the movie Strategic Air Command, starring Brigadier General James Stewart. It's a 1950's film and the crew transitions from a B-36 to a B-47. This is a pre-requisite before watching the promotional film, Champion of Champions featuring Jimmy Stewart flying the B-58 Hustler. The B-58 was Mach 2 capable.
Love the video! Can I recommend the video Battle of Mirbat (9 SAS Soldiers VS 300 Adoo Guerrillas) by Simple History. The battle is one of the most important by the SAS and Taka deserves the Victoria Cross and was supposedly refused as the British weren't there 'officially' I enjoyed the video keep it up!
The B2 is a larger aircraft so it’s going to have a larger cross section than the F-22. Stealth doesn’t mean invisible. Stealth helps negate weapons lock on the aircraft.
The B-21 is definitely cheaper, much like the F35 is cheaper than the F22 since both the B-21 and the F-35 took elements from their previous generations and improved on them instead of totally designing something from scratch. They already had stealth down, just needed to improve it along with engines, materials science, electronic signals intelligence gathering and communication. So maybe a few hundred million cheaper per unit.
A large reason why the B2 is so expensive is the air force didn't order enough for dedicated factories to be built for it so each one was effectively built by hand. They ordered just enough to be as expensive as possible
the other reason...is because the B2 was originally supposed to be the size of the B21...however Air Force genrals got involved with the design process...and started adding their wishlists to what the plane was supposed to do over the original spec...like low level flight etc. etc. that also added time and costs to the planes developement...the B21 is " the plane we should have had the first time " kinda design, just updated.
Vulnerable to hostile air craft in visual range. Fly at night to mitigate. Sophisticated Air Defenses may be able to track and target it… shame if Electronic Warfare Craft and Anti-Radiation missiles show up and un-sophisticate the situation 😂 Combined Capabilities are all about systematically dismantling the adversary’s capabilities. Even if an adversary in theory is capable of tracking and targeting stealth craft, expect those capabilities to be degraded by the time the bombers arrive
I recommend taking a look at the YF-23 and its history in the ATF program. It was the competitor to the F-22. Seeing the differences in design philosophy and choices between the two is interesting. Especially since the winner would end up setting the path for the next generation of stealth aircraft.
annnd...the 23 was better, faster....but not proposed by Lockheed...so yeah. Seen a thing a couple years ago on how the Japanese was trying to buy the plans for the YF-23 for their JDF as China was starting to get beligerant back then. I mean. " sell us the one your not using and that there's no laws forbidding you from selling to us. " lol
Yup, the YF-23 was physically better in just about every area, if only by fractions of a percent, but the US government was concerned based on past experience that Northrup wouldn't be able to meet the demand without significant delays and cost overruns. So Lockheed won the contract, then suffered from those exact issues lol
I just want to point out we had 20 B-2 spirit but now we have 19 According to a report on the US “Warzone” website on May 10, due to the complexity and excessive cost of maintenance work, the US Air Force decided to abandon the maintenance of a B-2 strategic bomber that had an accident before and take it out of active service. According to the “Warzone” website, the US Air Force's decision means that the US military will have only 19 valuable B-2 strategic bombers left. Currently, the US Air Force is promoting the deployment of B-21 strategic bombers to replace B-2 and B-1B strategic bombers.
No worries with the toilet. Those MRE's are sure to plug up your... emm, self. 😆 And there have been some crazy long missions for the B-2. They had one that was 44 hours from start to finish.
The B2 and F22 have a similar RCS at a specific head-on angle. However the B2 has a smaller RCS "all around" meaning from different angles and sides even when flying away from the radar. The F22 does have a smaller RCS compared to the F35. And the F35 has a smaller RCS compared to the F117. And the F117 has a smaller RCS compared to the Russian SU57. And the newest U.S. Variant of the F16 has a similar RCS to the SU57. The SU57 is only considered "stealth because it's stealthier than other Russian planes. China's J20 is considered to be a more dangerous adversary. And finally it is likely that the B21 will be harder to detect than the B2, and it will be cheaper and easier for the maintenance and storage of that stealth capability.
9:25 Don't know how old this video is or how much research they did on the B-1 but there's been two crashes in the last ten years so not all B-2 are still operational.
There's a joke/funny moment in the planes that have toilets like the B2. The crew would hold it in as long as possible because the first one that uses it is the one that has to dispose of it after they land.
The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber holds the record for the longest air combat mission in history, lasting 44 hours and 20 minutes: Mission In 2001, the Spirit of America and five other B-2s flew a record-breaking mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Details The B-2s penetrated Afghan airspace, dropped bombs, and then refueled. The crew was asked to return to Afghanistan to use their remaining bombs, and they spent an additional 90 minutes over the country. They then refueled again and headed to Diego Garcia, where they landed after 44 hours and 20 minutes in the air.
The 21 raider is roughly half the size of the B2. Carries half the payload, but also has the capability of being a manned flight or un-manned. Currently, there are 100 in production at the low-low cost of just $636,000,000. A steal at twice the price! Considering the B2 cost a little over $2B each, when Northrop Grumman came in at $636M, the government was jumping up and down with excitement and said, "we'll take a hundo". Haha😅😅😅😅😅
It's too bad the video didn't have any footage of the bomber in action. It's terrifying. It can drop sixteen 2000 pound JDAMs all at once with each bomb targeted on a different objective. It was used during the final Iraq War, but really by that time there wasn't much left worth all that firepower. This bomber was meant to replace the B-52 because it has a similar bomb load and range, but is almost invisible to radar. It's radar cross section is bigger than the F-22 because the aircraft itself is simply bigger. The B-2 was designed for one primary mission, the destruction of major military powers, namely Russia and China. They are terrified of this aircraft and their stealth technology is decades behind the US and what they do have was acquired, as usual, through espionage.
That info is incorrect. The B-2 has a bed a microwave and a lavatory, and the 2 pilots take turns resting and eating bc they can be in the air for literal days
Someone may have already answered this, but the B-2 has a bigger RCS than the raptor because it's bigger, not necessarily because the raptor has better stealth
I think we had a different training, my job was to see everything, because we were reccon fuseliers, we worked very closely with our special forces, para troopers, they also trained us. Because we were so close. Did 5 years active duty, and 5 years reserves. After Rwanda in 1991 I was broken, too intense while hutu did genocide on the tutsi tribe. So went into the reserves, with a big chunk of ptsd. Been treated only in the 2000s and my wife pulled me through. The B2 is a marvelous technical wonder, but very expensive and a lot of maintenance. They say the B21 will be cheaper on maintenance.
Have you seen about the Rapid Dragon pallet cruise missles that can have 45 of them dropped out of a C17 by Fat Electrician? I think it is interesting information about a tech the USAF has that you might not have seen
At 0.1m^2 that is a rectangle of 25*40cm which is 1000cm^2, while the F22 is more like 4cm^2 but you need to remember that the B2 is much larger than the F22... It is an older design, so it's stealth isn't quite as good, but it is also down to the size difference as to why the B2 has a larger radar cross section. Plus there are techniques available to the pilots to help limit the ability of radar to see the plane. Plus keep in mind that radar cross section is dependent on the relative position/orientation of the aircraft to the radar system. It will change based on that. The F22 likely has a larger cross section than the B2 in some orientations.
We used to call them meals rejected by Ethiopians back in the 90s. That was changed to be more politically correct so it's just meals rejected by everyone.
The new B-21 raider stealth is about 3 times cheaper and 2-3 times more effective than the B-2 and requires only a fraction of the maintenance. Much lower operating costs and better performance are benefits of investing in a new iteration of an existing design and will become very apparent.
My assumption would be the reduction in size is probably directly proportional, cost to payload delivery. Probably takes significantly less fuel while maintaining similar payload.
My friend you have never had an american MRE if you think shitting afterwards is your biggest concern. The problem with american MRE is that after eating one you wont shit for 2 days. Haha
B2 has more capacity B21 has more range In recent years b2s haven’t been using its full load capacity and has often been fitted with extra fuel tanks, hence why the b21 is focused more on having a longer range with less payload

before watching the promotional film, Champion of Champions featuring Jimmy Stewart flying the B-58 Hustler. The B-58 was Mach 2 capable.
I didn't see the mead bottles behind you so I said, "He must have hit 500k"... Congrats!
Congrats on passing 500k subs!!!
remember, MRE's here in the US use to have matches and a cigarette in them, not anymore though
The B-52 has a 26' flex on the wings!
The one that took off at Nellis AFB when I was working there was the loudest plane I ever heard besides the Concord.
You know what else is amazing? The ammo troops that set those munitions out there for that shot
Vulnerable to hostile air craft in visual range. Fly at night to mitigate.
Sophisticated Air Defenses may be able to track and target it… shame if Electronic Warfare Craft and Anti-Radiation missiles show up and un-sophisticate the situation 😂
Combined Capabilities are all about systematically dismantling the adversary’s capabilities. Even if an adversary in theory is capable of tracking and targeting stealth craft, expect those capabilities to be degraded by the time the bombers arrive
I remember when this was revealed 89. An analyst said it was literally worth its weight in gold.
I know the skin is honey combed. Radar goes through the skin into the honey comb portion and bounces around inside the honey comb until it dissipates.
Love the content, brother!!
I just want to point out we had 20 B-2 spirit but now we have 19
According to a report on the US “Warzone” website on May 10, due to the complexity and excessive cost of maintenance work, the US Air Force decided to abandon the maintenance of a B-2 strategic bomber that had an accident before and take it out of active service. According to the “Warzone” website, the US Air Force's decision means that the US military will have only 19 valuable B-2 strategic bombers left. Currently, the US Air Force is promoting the deployment of B-21 strategic bombers to replace B-2 and B-1B strategic bombers.
The way you were laughing about taking a shit, tells me you are a Marine brother 😂👍🇺🇸🫡
No worries with the toilet. Those MRE's are sure to plug up your... emm, self. 😆
And there have been some crazy long missions for the B-2.
I mean...I'm assuming that's a type-o...but the B 1 is a different plane than the B2....sooo 😁
@nadjasunflower1387 lol good catch
HEY NOW, MRE'S are not bad! unless you demand to be spoon fed French cuisine from your baby momma
There's a joke/funny moment in the planes that have toilets like the B2. The crew would hold it in as long as possible because the first one that uses it is the one that has to dispose of it after they land.
The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber holds the record for the longest air combat mission in history, lasting 44 hours and 20 minutes:
Mission
In 2001, the Spirit of America and five other B-2s flew a record-breaking mission in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Details
The B-2s penetrated Afghan airspace, dropped bombs, and then refueled. The crew was asked to return to Afghanistan to use their remaining bombs, and they spent an additional 90 minutes over the country. They then refueled again and headed to Diego Garcia, where they landed after 44 hours and 20 minutes in the air.
So to spot a B-2 just look for something the size of a song bird moving at nearly the speed of sound! It's unlikely to be a really quick pigeon.
35 years old and most countries don't even come close to matching it. Just imagine what the gen 6's are gonna be like
It's not Just a set of wings... it's a set of wings with a bomb bay.
Not a set of wings, just one. It's *a* wing with a bomb bay.
Radar return... stealth, damn hard to detect when flown tactically correct.
I think the f22's radar cross section is the size of a bumblebee same with the f35? not sure tho 😂
There is a reason to have made the replacement for this one. It's a mosquito on the same scale
Haha😅😅😅😅😅
17:00 sounds like a regular day in the office lol
Fake
That info is incorrect. The B-2 has a bed a microwave and a lavatory, and the 2 pilots take turns resting and eating bc they can be in the air for literal days
A YF-22 video would be very cool to see you react to and as always great reaction to the B2 Spirit
Someone may have already answered this, but the B-2 has a bigger RCS than the raptor because it's bigger, not necessarily because the raptor has better stealth
Radar return Size of a bumble bee
It refuels in flight.. it stays in the air until its payload has been delivered. Not sooner. Toilets and food are important.
B2 bombers flew round trip from U.S. to Iraq &back during the Gulf War, totaling 33 hours of flight!
16 Nukes sounds INSANE
The F-22’s rcs size is 0.0001 sqm. And the F-35’s is 0.0015 sqm. The 35’s is the size of a golf ball, and the 22’s is just tiny.
The F22 and F35 have different combat roles and sacrifice stealth for maneuverability. The stealth bombers are meant to bomb while undetected.
Also the bombers refuel in air. I don't think they're stationed outside the US.
Have you seen about the Rapid Dragon pallet cruise missles that can have 45 of them dropped out of a C17 by Fat Electrician? I think it is interesting information about a tech the USAF has that you might not have seen
Meal Ready to Eat = MRE 😆
Basically with the B-2 and the B-21 Fly by Computers. So the Pilot is only needed to Land and Takeoff!
At ease gents it’s Original Human time 🫡🇺🇸🇬🇧
Talk to Ryan Macbeth about the "military industrial complex "
fighters make movies, bombers make history
Record B2 mission was 44 hours, US to Afghanistan
MRE= Meals Ready to Eat.
"slips under the radar" 😁😅🤣😂
There are countries that use the metric system and countries that have B-2 Stealth bombers.
Grumman also makes all of our us mail trucks
Longest flight recorded was 47 hours
We used to call them meals rejected by Ethiopians back in the 90s. That was changed to be more politically correct so it's just meals rejected by everyone.
Guam:
The power of crashing on take off
Yup! Oreo's, Skittles, Milky Way bars, Chocolate Chip Cookies, and a Chiclets gum among many other goodies.
The new B-21 raider stealth is about 3 times cheaper and 2-3 times more effective than the B-2 and requires only a fraction of the maintenance.
Much lower operating costs and better performance are benefits of investing in a new iteration of an existing design and will become very apparent.
My uncle worked on the development of the spirit and a bunch of other planes like the c-17 globemaster(the flying clusterfuck)
One of my close friends growing up was a C-130 pilot at Hickum AF base out of Hawaii. Retired this past year after 30 years in Air Force.
Just remember this is the declassified information we are allowed to know about. 😳😅
MRE's- Meals Ready to Eat.
My assumption would be the reduction in size is probably directly proportional, cost to payload delivery. Probably takes significantly less fuel while maintaining similar payload.
The American (MREs) are actually not too bad, depending on what you have. But the majority are pretty good!
f22 and f35 have a RCS of 0.0001m^2 which is much smaller than b2
My friend you have never had an american MRE if you think shitting afterwards is your biggest concern. The problem with american MRE is that after eating one you wont shit for 2 days. Haha
MRE. MEALS READY TO EAT.
Meals Ready to Eat !
B2 has more capacity
B21 has more range
In recent years b2s haven’t been using its full load capacity and has often been fitted with extra fuel tanks, hence why the b21 is focused more on having a longer range with less payload
