I am pretty sure these are old videos as most Russian tanks have drone jammers now which disables about every drone in this video, but I don’t know for sure cause one may be fiber optical guided. Say what you want but I am happy they are finding counters to these bastards
We're talking about FPV... drones. There are Maviks who deal with airdrops... there are heavy vampire drones or Baba Yaga... There are drones in specific directions, for example, drones that are built to shoot down enemy drones.. SuperCam or Orlan reconnaissance drones.. There are ground drones.. which deliver mines directly into the enemy’s trenches or who transport ammunition and other things, for example the wounded. What about sea drones? Ukraine without a fleet sank many warships
From what I've seen of the FPV drones are carrying 80 mm mortar rounds. I honestly see the mortar becoming obsolete. Far more accurate to use drones to do the same job.
Many of the Russian tank designs have an automatic reload carousel that stores the tank's ammo around the turret. It has proven to be a significant weakness.
Most of the explosion that you see is from the vehicles ammunition and fuel not from the drone itself. You can see on some of the footage that they use RPG warheads strapped to the drones. So anything with a shaped charge is pretty effective against that old Russian armor. Thankfully, American tanks have blast doors and panels that keep the ammo from detonating into the crew compartment. A design decision the Russians decided to skip. They also use thermite against bunkers in wooded areas. These are just the drone videos of them going after tanks. The ones of them chasing individual people are even more crazy.
The only problem is that Ukraine has more Soviet and Russian tanks than the "safest Western tanks". And where are all these modern Western tanks by the way? What assaults do they participate in? It is easy to maintain the status of "the safest tanks" while being in the rear and showing them only in propaganda videos... although judging by the video footage of the last year, Russia has more Abrams than Ukraine xDD

People like to argue that neither side is perfect and thus Ukraine shouldn't be helped or that we should stay out of it because there's a couple of questionable units that have been fully incorporated into the Military. They forget that Britain wasn't perfect when the US sent supplies to help before joining the fight and still isn't perfect. They forget that Ukraine won't have the chance to fix their major internal problems if they are stripped of their sovereignty by a violent and oppresive invader. Of course there's heroes and monsters on both sides in all conflicts, in recent years its been more and more of a grey area with it being pretty impossible to see who the "good guys" are. With the Russo-Ukrainian War it's pretty clear cut who the bad guys are and its the damned invaders. Heroyam Slava.
There’s a lot of Ukrainian channels that post really good and raw footage. The 3rd SABR upload a lot. I get not wanting to watch it, but figured I’d throw it out there if you were at all interested.
I will tell you to use caution when viewing some of these videos. There are a couple that are (shall we say ) quite graphic and show bodies in less than living states
The drone videos are wild. The ones where they are chasing individual soldiers down, or around corners is pure insanity... I'd hate to be an infantrymen in the future. As far as the Russian tanks, they generally don't have blowout panels and the ammo is stored in the open. Once you hit that, it turns everyone in the turret into a friggin' Cosmonaut.
Interesting you say that nobody thought about these civilian drones as a tool of war when they first came onto our consumer electronics shelves....but I absolutely did. The very first thing I thought when I saw a DJI quadcopter drone flying video on TH-cam was "it's only a matter of time before some ISIS sympathizer in the US straps a block of C4 covered in ball bearings to this and unleashes it at a concert or a football game". To be quite honest, I´m sort of stunned it hasn't happened yet.
maybe no one has used drones for what you described because it's easier to do it the old way, like before, leave a package in a crowded place, or wrap yourself with a belt, etc.
The Drone Combat and Combat Footage subreddits have the most insane war drone footage ever. Guys getting absolutely blown apart, Soviet era tanks turret tossing 100 ft in the air, even drones shooting down other drones!
A lot of these are being released by the Ukrainian drone groups to both improve morale in the UKR and also tear it down among the Russians. When the NK's arrived they didn't get much more than a briefing on drones and almost immediately started freaking out when UKR started using them on them.
Don't know if you know I would imagine you do .Western Tanks are Built to protect the Humans . The important part of a MBT .Russians don't seem to give a Toss about the Crew .

These are some select videos, where the internal ammo was reached. They don't all brew up like that. A lot of times they might get a mobility kill, then you'll see the crew leave the tank, then another drone will come in and finish it off. Drones are going after individual soldiers too. Just being on a battlefield when there are a lot of drones around, is bad news no matter what. PS - Looks like this is the first comment I've been able to post since I sent you that email about it.
t-72 is literally the most volatile tank ever conceived... a self propelled deathtrap.... these things are a greater liability to the crew and the propaganda victory they grant the enemy when they go up like a firework. I imagine the Ukrainians have basketball competitions for "who can send the turret flying the farthest?"
@@KhanKeal not only for T-72, T-80 and T-90 also have the same problem, their auto loader design don't separate the ammo from the crew compartment, there's only 2 Russian tank that have separate ammo storage and only one that in service and that is the T-90M even though it only separate the spare ammunition and don't address the issue about the vulnerable ammo in the auto loader
They progressed quite a lot in the drone warfare. one issue that its not often addressed is the video delay in the system is quite large. So in the early days of the war they had a really hard time hitting anything because they had to line up and just go for it the last seconds. This was later improved by having a onboard processor that does the last lining up. So the operator only need to put the crosshair on where he want to hit, and the onboard video processing fly the drone in the last seconds. This have improved accuracy quite a lot. This is also why they are so insanely fast, superhuman so the last seconds when closing in. A other issue early in the war was that the range was limited and the radio signal was traceable for the enemy, attracting artillery fighter to the operators position. This have since been fixed by having a heavier drone doing signal relay. Both improving the range and making it much harder for the enemy to find the operator position. A other issue early on was that the small kamikaze drones carrying a lot of explosives. they there for could not hover around for a very long period to look for target. As well as not go far behind enemy lines. Nowdays the smaller drones are often carried by a much heavier drone that is reused that drop of the smaller drone when a target is spotted. The heaver drone can also have better optics. This is typically where the other video is from. None of this improvement existed in 2022, and most of it came online first in late 2023 and 2024. This really pushed the drone warfare a lot deeper into enemy line making it incredebly dangerus for any kind of vihicle. Russia probobly will bleed dry eventually

drones are great for recon but i think the likes of the FPV drone are overrated, what I've noticed with all of this footage is that all of these tanks are alone and left totally defenceless, my question is how well would these drones fare against a properly organised armoured unit
FPV drone has been declared the most versatile and valuable piece of kit to the Ukrainian military; even over artillery, HIMARS, javelin/NLAW, and F-16s. nothing has scored more kills and broken so many enemy units as the FPV. you are out of touch.
Rus is leading in drone warfare and drone defense... should check out more nuance YT channels... And true tanks were not designed to fight in the manner they are being used by both sides... likely in a proper unit drones would be used as distractions and recon to direct artillery
As a wireman in the USMC, what I saw in Desert Storm, you could never ever pay me enough to be in a tank, useful and mission critical, yes, a deathtrap? Absolutely
To be specific, the most dangerous place to be in is a Russian or old Soviet tank. Most western tanks have taken steps to try to mitigate these kinds of issues. They're not always fool proof, but it's better than what the T-72's have. The T-72's notoriously have an autoloading gun with the ammo basically stored underneath the turret. You can't wet stowage autoloading belts, so it's basically out there in the open ready to blow at the most opportune time. Poorly stored ammo was the source of the misconceived "Tommy-cooker" M4 Sherman myths. Just about every other WWII tank had dry storage and were subject to cookoffs if they got hit in the wrong spot. The M4's just had a very VERY poor choice of where to place the ammo (on the sides of the hull.....about where you'd want to shoot in general to get a side shot in) and so it had a false reputation of burning up more than others. Once they got wet stowage for the ammo on it, those numbers reduced massively. And to be perfectly fair, you're probably safer in a tank than in an APC. Those APC's exploded on the first hit. The tanks were disabled after the first hit and then abandoned. If you can walk away from the incident, it was safer than going through the same thing without that vehicle. I'm not saying you're better off in a tank in terms of battle effectiveness, but in terms of surviving a single drone strike in a vehicle, you'd want to be in a tank more than anything else. You don't want to be in any vehicle for the second drone though. And that's pretty much the truth for all vehicles. You'd be fine for the first hit, but don't pay ante on the second hit. The Leopard 2's, Challenger 2's, and M1A2 Abrams are better off on at least surviving that first hit. And if their ammo does end up detonating, they tend to have blow out panels for the explosion to go out of instead of it being stuck under the turret so the gunner and the tank commander have a guaranteed ride to hell.
Its not the drone exploding that big its the ammo cases. Russian vehicles have zero ammo casing protection and they detonate quickly. The drones are using shaped charges which are extremely small and are made to penetrate only and shoot spall. If you notice they aim in the rear of the turret so that the penetrating charge can penetrate and then hit the ammo casing. You can tell its a shaped charge by the shape of the bomb (looks like a cone.)
That's the thing with Wars , they usually turn new technology into deadly weapons of war . And the Ukraine-Russian war is no exception to this . And Ukrainians know all to well were the weak spot of Russian tanks are , the Turret . A design flaw that has been in any T model tank from the T55 till the T90 . Only the Armata (Russia's famous stealth tank) has solved that problem with it's auto loaders .
Surely, he knows that Ukraine is not winning and Russia has a drone and electronic warfare superiority. Surely, he knows that there are TWICE as many videos of this happening to Ukranian troops. Surely, this is not just showing people what they want to see, not what's actually happening.

They use jammer that cuts drone signals, causing them to fall to the ground... rus has other means to take out drones, and even ukr forces admit rus drone and drone defense is far superior the ukr... it takes time for rus to equipment all its forces with drone defense, but eventually they will get there

Now beginning to understand how Ukraine has lasted out so long against otherwise overwhelming forces. Russian still using tactics from WW1 whereas Ukraine is using next day technology.
You're reactions are one sided, and it's crazy how angry/sad you are when something happens to a Ukrainian soldier but celebrate the death Russian soldiers even making jokes you should react to the hand to hand combat of the Russian and Ukrainian soldier and see how brutal war is, it's not to be joked about both sides lose 100s or 1000s of soldiers a day even though I think they both exaggerate each other's death tolls but just my opinion you don't have to listen to me but you shouldn't be one sided as this is what always leads, not looking at someone else's point of view

The ammo is situated directly under the turret on a carousel. In Western tanks, the ammo is stored in compartments that are accessible from inside the vehicle, but blows outward allowing the troops inside to survive the initial blast. I greatly appreciate you checking out these videos. The more people see these, the more forefront it is in their minds. Most news stations, especially here in America, have all but STOPPED showing Ukraine footage, whether that be war, atrocity, disaster, or otherwise, because they "dont get the views," but we are utterly desperate to show them whats going on while Americans just focus on their own problems while being completely ignorant of whats going on in the rest of the world. I would also recommend some of Task&Purpose videos, especially some of his early war videos (before youtube started demonetizing footage of the war) during the first 2-6 months of the war that he made; they are VERY informative. Also he recently put out a 1hr documentary where he actually went to the Kursk front and interviewed soldiers there.

Well the mighty challenger 2 did not pass drone test any better.
the drones are typically equipped with plastic explosives (ones you see kamikaze the tank) and small mortars hence the drone nets

United24 is trash ukraine propaganda chanel.

Love your content Sir. United24 is one of my favorite channels. God Bless your for your service

I always fear Christmas time. Shopping mall. What better way to ruin the American economy than shutting down Christmas.
maybe no one has used drones for what you described because it's easier to do it the old way, like before, leave a package in a crowded place, or wrap yourself with a belt, etc.
The important part of a MBT .Russians don't seem to give a Toss about the Crew .
is it just me or at 5:43 the tank have a cap/plug in/over the barrel why is it there?
The choice to have blowout panels and prioritize crew safety in Western tanks, turns out to make ALL the difference at the moment.
7:55 the shockwave is probably so massive because the TOS fires thermobaric missiles
explosion is not just from a drone ,but detonated munitions inside the tank.

@@KhanKeal ... There's no doubt that storing ammo in the turret has been proven to be a bad idea.
@@KhanKeal not only for T-72, T-80 and T-90 also have the same problem, their auto loader design don't separate the ammo from the crew compartment, there's only 2 Russian tank that have separate ammo storage and only one that in service and that is the T-90M even though it only separate the spare ammunition and don't address the issue about the vulnerable ammo in the auto loader
what a world we live in that my grandpa had to go to Europe to see the same horrors I can watch from my living room.
except that back then(ww1), they had actual meat waves, where men run into machine gun fire.

Not any better. None of them are designed to deal with drones.

You should watch videos from both sides, who cares what people think. Watching from the russian and Ukrainian side is good.
You should check out the 2 Bradley’s vs 1 T-90 tank

I would also recommend some of Task&Purpose videos, especially some of his early war videos (before youtube started demonetizing footage of the war) during the first 2-6 months of the war that he made; they are VERY informative. Also he recently put out a 1hr documentary where he actually went to the Kursk front and interviewed soldiers there.
