Thanks for sharing. I was born in Brooklyn NY back in the day, late 50s, when we could let our children play outside without fear. We knew all our neighbors, most of them were related. Three generations lived in my appt. building. We moved out to LI NY when I was nine. Totally different but the same feeling of safety and got to know all our neighbors. Made friends with all the new kids, some who are still my best friends. We visited Brooklyn often to see the relatives and old friends. Sadly, many passed and or moved away. Even sadder, Brooklyn is not the same! Mom and Dad did a great service to me and my brothers moving to a beautiful small town on Long Island.

Oh wow that's great to hear. I love hearing stories like that; it gives me hope that we can one day return to a civilization like that again one day. Not very likely, but I've can hope. I feel so blessed to have grown up with the childhood I had. Thanks for sharing!

What position did you play? That was a moving tribute and Scott is very obviously dear to your heart and always will be.
