Lines are e, g, b, d, f bottom to top. Good way to remember is every good boy does fine. Spaces are f, a, c, e bottom to top, face is a good way to remember. (this is for the treble clef)
One thing I may suggest is bringing the left elbow in towards the right side of the Violin. This will allow your left hand knuckles have more authority over the fingerboard and reach according for the octaves. Let me know if this helps :-)

My hands are too small to play an octave. What should I do?

Is playing octaves with the ring finger bad or no?
Fingered octaves are not bad, that is also an option but it is more of an advanced technique and is up to personal preference.
