I went nuts. Bought the Atari 2600+, 7800+, and VCS consoles... then went nuts on the software. Kids seemed overjoyed with the fun of the games and especially the Recharged games of which my daughter has fallen in love with. I see Atari doing great things in 2025!
Great video and recap of 2024! I watched this on my New Atari VCS. This was my retro pick up that I enjoyed most in 2024. I also was able to get a physical copy of Boulder Dash for the 2600 before it was Delisted again. I hope you have a wonderful 2025 John! Thanks for always keeping it positive and for being the gentlemen you are! The world needs more people like you. Take care!
Spent a fortune on after-market Genesis games this year, though not all the carts were 2024 releases. The rerelease of Eliminate Down, though, was probably my favorite retro release of the year. So satisfying to finally have a proper licensed Western release of such an awesome Mega Drive shooter (definitely beats spending $900+ on importing an original cart).
Great 2024 recap, John, and thanks for the mentions of Microvaders and Ring Flyer! Amazing to see so many other consoles like NES and Genesis also get such high-quality releases. Love your videos; keep up the good work!
This was such a great year. I just got my Atari 7800+ last week. And after I preordered my Analogue 3D earlier this year, I immediately purchased a Duo and a Mega SG. I've been playing the hell out of them.
I do love the ZX Spectrum Maxi and the new releases of Opcode Game's ColecoVision Homebrews that are Arcade Perfect! Plus, the 400 Mini was amazing as well! Can't wait to see what might happen in 2025!
I didn't want nuts on Atari 7800+, but I'm excited/waiting for my new Atari 7800 games arriving from Amazon. Evercade games. I'm happy what I got this year. Great video, John, and have a wonderful day.
Old Skool's website has a few recent new products that have my eye: An updated AV to HDMI converter box which now has an aspect ratio switch, and some HD adapters for SNES, N64, Gamecube, Super Famicom, and PS 1 & 2. I'm hoping to see them tested and reviewed by any TH-cam gaming channels out there, and hopefully they'll be great budget friendly options for the minimalist.
All great stuff. I think Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster came out this year. I love that game. 2024 was a good year. Let's hope 2025 is just as good. Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas, John!
I particularly enjoy the Atari 7800 Food Fight that I got from Atari when I ordered the 7800+. I do much better on that version than the versions that are on Atari 50 for some reason.
My dream is to see a retro version of Nintendo 64 soon. Right now I play Pokémon Stadium 2 on my ordinary vintage console but it would be nice if they also can realise a retro version. Under 2024 I have installed more games on my NES Classic Mini and SNES Classic Mini. I have always said I never would do that but I dreamed about to play all the games I grown up with on a modern retro console. It feels much better that I can save in every NES game now, something we could not do in the past.
I remember getting a huge box of atari games and a 7800 back in the 90's for super cheap. We had a nes first then a snes, genesis, n64 and ps1 at the time. And we played the 7800 just as much as the other consoles.
For me, nothing is beating the Atari 7800+. I have so many fond childhood memories of playing the Atari 7800. It's so nice to relive those memories, upgraded to HD. I got mine just before Christmas, but I haven't had much time to play it yet. But, I will this weekend. Other retro things that I love that came out this year are the DLC for Atari 50 and Tetris Forever. I love those timelines full of great history, and the games are fun too.
Can't imagine next year another machine will join the retro realm...the Nintendo Switch! This year the winner for me is the Retro Pocket 5 but maybe steam deck OLED if I have one (can't vote for things you don't have).

The new release of Berzerk on Atari 7800 is really fun too.
I forgot how much cool retro stuff that came out this year. Thanks for the recap John!

2024 with John Hancock another good year happy holidays

Happy belated Christmas 🎄 John & I wish you all the best in 2025 from London, UK!
I backed TCL and ZPF; they're still to be released to the public.
Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (both remakes) were the two best games I played this year. Rebirth may be the best game I've ever played.
This was such a great year. I just got my Atari 7800+ last week. And after I preordered my Analogue 3D earlier this year, I immediately purchased a Duo and a Mega SG. I've been playing the hell out of them.
Sounds like a great year for you!
I've picked up the collections from TMNT and Metal Gear for my PS5. It feels refreshing to play these (especially the Arcade TMNT) games again.
I do love the ZX Spectrum Maxi and the new releases of Opcode Game's ColecoVision Homebrews that are Arcade Perfect! Plus, the 400 Mini was amazing as well! Can't wait to see what might happen in 2025!
I liked the Atari 7800+ so much I now want to get the Atari 2600+ for a different room. Haha.
Never finished bounty bob. Got to level 23, it was a hard game. I got over 300k on miner 2049'er. Might be a high score, played the hell out of it.
The resurgence of the 2600 through the 2600 Plus and all the new releases has been my retro highlight of the last 10 years 👍😊

Belated Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year 2025 John! 🎆
Thanks for the video John !
I don't have a favourite for 2024 honestly. I just use altirra for old games. Oh the Atari 400 mini, even though I don't have one.
Love the 7800+ but I have to give it to the 400 Mini. It reminded me of how much fun a lot of games were on my 800XL back in the day.
All great stuff. I think Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster came out this year. I love that game. 2024 was a good year. Let's hope 2025 is just as good. Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas, John!
Yes it did! It was a great year for re-releases.
I particularly enjoy the Atari 7800 Food Fight that I got from Atari when I ordered the 7800+. I do much better on that version than the versions that are on Atari 50 for some reason.
2024 was a pretty strong retro year.
More video games to add to my wish lists!
Evercade Alpha I love! and arcade punisher game in the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection.
My dream is to see a retro version of Nintendo 64 soon. Right now I play Pokémon Stadium 2 on my ordinary vintage console but it would be nice if they also can realise a retro version.

I completely understand, the 7800+ is such a great console, I hope you have a great time playing it!
I just bought the Piko Interactive Arcade from Amazon, just before Christmas.
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord remaster was the only game I purchased this year.
Can't imagine next year another machine will join the retro realm...the Nintendo Switch! This year the winner for me is the Retro Pocket 5 but maybe steam deck OLED if I have one (can't vote for things you don't have).
I enjoyed dragon quest 3 HD 2d had never played that game and enjoyed the old school challenge
What about bew Atari 2600 games Circus Train (correct title??) amd Kelly's Gols?
