As an Asian, I'm used to eating a LOT of rice. Reducing my rice serving to half a plate and filling the other half with proteins; like lentils, chicken, beef, and chickpeas really helped with weight loss. Also, I only drink water and a cup of sugar-free black coffee every day.
Fellow asian here, I had to eat a bunch of rice and meat for my judo training, along with sleeping 10 hours a day, I'm actually eating more and more now, I'm still growing so I want to eat as much as I can to get bigger and taller, its working so far, but I eat a bowl of rice with meat for every meal, along with oatmeal and eggs, bananas and nuts, and more meat, sometimes I have to just eat beef by itself to get my calories in
It’s kind of crazy that some of these foods look like a lot to eat, and some not so much. Naturally, it goes to show that everyone’s bodies and energy consumption are different and influences your mind to know just by looks if foods look like a lot or not. I got to keep at it and make smart and consistent decisions on my food choices…
Such a smart video with everyday products we can all relate to and confront. I like his approach of not demonizing everything/everyone because we all know to some degree most of these items aren't good for us, but he gives us the information and the visual aspect so our common sense can work for us.
Amazing video thanks for letting us know what food are bad to eat for your health this video will definitely help me be a lot healthier thanks so much 🎉
Thank you Chris for visually showing us! A lot of times we don't think about what we're eating and how much we're eating. So it's a great wake up call. My husband would make comments about chocolate and cookies and giving them to kids. He would say the cookies are bigger than their hands or that donut is bigger than their face. It really puts it in perspective! So we use those foods as "treats", not an everyday thing!
Yeah, he's right, I have little brothers so I know that too, I feed them real food for three meals and then I let them have what they want in the middle, if you regulate, then it's fine, they're kids after all
Why would you "treat" you kid with horrible unhealthy rewards ? It trains them for such a failure in life. "If you do good you get to ruin your health". What kind of message is that ? Seriously this is some top notch bad parenting.
Thank you for this video. It definitely puts into perspective how much or how little the nutritional value of the different types of foods we consume are. I am beginning my health journey and I hope I can learn a lot from you by watching these videos. Thank you again and have a good day!
Chris thanks so much for simplifying the carb puzzle with foods you can eat and others you should avoid or moderate. So helpful towards achieving my fitness goals.
Thanks Chris, good to visualise food this way. I'm about 9 months into my fitness journey and I've already changed my diet, focused on your routines and am seeing results in my abs and arms. 👍
Your meal idea videos were the first ones I found in my fitness journey. I dropped 60 pounds last year because of it. I've definitely allowed myself to have more junk food since then as I now know how to handle calories better but videos like this are a great reminder of how bad some foods are.
Very informative... until he mentioned the fake calories B2. Cook for yourself from scratch and do physical activity. I guarantee you will never have to count your calories.
Thans for the visualization Chris, it’s crazy to see how so little food can amount to so many calories. Thanks for the calorie to protein, fat and carb conversion, that’s a handy thing to know
I have been 63kg for a year now I have been doing only body weight workouts and I thought going into my workout journey, I would gain some weight but only gained muscles and got lean so this video will give me a new take on my calories and fitness hoping to get to 70kg this year
Chicken rice and brocoli won't cut it for you, pecan and brazilian nuts helped me bulk tremendously. Went from 68kg to 80kg within two months - consistent 4 meals a day plus a gainer protein shake with different nuts and peanut butter. I have a crazy metabolism, so I had to aim for around 4k calories during the bulk.

I won’t ever track my calories because life is too short, but this is def helpful for the people who are hyper focused on this Edit: I am not saying I’m knocking counting calories/I or you should be eating fast food and eating all the crap. I am saying practice portion control and eat healthy and eat less than healthy food in moderation. I work out using Herias methods, I eat healthy, but every now and then I’m going to have Hot Cheetos or Ice Cream.
Life is also too short to be eating an excessive amount of calories and feeling sick🤣 Maybe dont count calories but at least be cognizant of what you're eating

Two cups of almonds, walnuts, raisins (trail mix), 5 oz can of salmon, 1 fresh jalapeno pepper, 1 banana, and 1 apple. 2 cups of coffee with about 1/2 c. Like I said if I counted my calories I would freak out. I get way to much fat content (but isn't it the good fat?), And I probably eat at least three McDonald's meals worth of calories with D's nuts. I don't like to share my nuts. 😂😂😂😂😂

Yikes! Great information. You covered so many foods a lot of us eat far too often without any idea what we're doing to ourselves. I've watched many videos about diet and this is probably the best because it talks about "real" food. Thanks
It’s really difficult to gain weight from only eating nuts … I’m talking raw nuts (no salt or fat added). Yes they are high on calories but also very nutritious and have a low glycaemic index value. And I’ve never heard of anyone addicted to almonds 😅so you can’t really over eat , they fill you up quickly.
I struggle with binge eating and have always felt so stressed and overwhelmed by the idea of counting calories, I never bothered. But I'm on day 3 and I'm determined to learn this habit for life, to always know more or less how much I'm eating
Hey, this is one well researched presentation, you laid it out nicely real world terms, and definitely a lot of info to think about, great job, thank you, and keep up the great work!!!! 👍👍👍
This is great perspective. Just wanna give some advice to people wanting to lose weight, please don't start off by instantly changing your diet to chicken and broccoli. Most of the time, a drastic change like this only leads to giving up and failing to be consistent weeks later. If you're morbidly obese and unfortunately even bedridden, start by analyzing what you eat and simply removing bits from it. For example, if you eat an upsized McDonald's meal, simply don't upsize it. Pair this with some movement whether it is air punches or hip mobility or even rolling around in your bed. If you're obese but can move, do the same thing but perhaps walk just a bit more. Even 5-10 minutes of extra walking is a huge improvement. Similarly, eat something like 1 donut instead of 2. If you're just overweight, you can start reducing junk food in general. For example perhaps instead of 2 meals that aren't the best, have 1 junk food meal. If you snack a lot, maybe 1 bag of chips, change that to half a bag. Of course, add in any exercise that is doable and maintainable. Lastly, for people that don't have difficulty keeping to a diet, maybe reduce the portion of your carbs, use less sauce, drink less liquid calories, and replace unhealthy food with low calorie vegetables. And as usual, exercise. Preferably not too much anaerobic exercise like sprinting etc as you actually need to oxidize your fat in order to burn it, meaning you need to be able to breathe. So if you would like cardio, steady-state cardio with proper breathing is fine, or you could do bodyweight or go to the gym. Often times, increasing your muscle mass by strengthening your muscles also increases your metabolism, making it easier to hit deficits. Hope this helped.
Hey Chris, I just started my fitness jurney this year and began to research about nutrition. One question I have is: Is it true that ur body can only absorb like 25-30g of protein every 3-4 hours? And wouldnt that be a problem, if ur meal had like 50g of it?
its fine, your body will eventually absorb it, it will just take a while. It also depends on the type of protein you eat. And btw 3-4 hours is bs, 30-50 g of protein can be absorbed per hour depending on your metabolism and protein consumed👍
8 oz of cooked chicken breast has 70g of protein, and 8 oz of raw chicken breast has 52g of protein. the problem is that he didnt specify whether it was 8 oz before or after cooking. the water weight lost in the cooking process drastically changes the density of protein per oz. I'm guessing he weighed 8 oz before cooking, and that his numbers are wrong
1) you never count after cooking, always before, same thing for rice pasta etc@@simonchesney3911 and 2) 8 oz of chicken doesnt give 70g of protein hahaha, 100g of chicken gives aoubt 25g of protein, again learn your maths mate
@@randihigginbotham5070 if you go on cronometer and type in 8 oz of chicken breast, there are multiple options. raw and cooked. raw has extra water so is less calorie dense. 8 oz of raw chicken breast contains ~52g of protein, and 8oz cooked has ~70g of protein, because the water weight is reduced. the video is incorrect
Damnnnn!!! That was so useful information Chris. Thank you so much for making this video. Now, I would try to build a better diet routine. As I work at McDonald's, I am used to eating their food thrice a week or more.
Great video with a lot of useful information. One thing I've found with salads is that tossing them correctly spreads the dressing so it's nicely coated. Plus I take the chicken out and eat it on the side because it's tasty.

Bro, you inspired me. I would usually eat a bunch of junk food and workout, but now I’m changing my diet. Thanks for making these videos. You literally stoped me from eating McDonald’s today. God bless you.🙏🏻💚
Wow, a visual demonstration like this really sticks with you. I eat pretty well (low sodium, sugar, fat and gluten) and drink plenty of water, but I treat myself to 1 can of root beer every Sunday. Keeps me from feeling deprived. Thanks for all the great diet and exercise info.
WOW! What a real eye opener. Thanks.
