  • Welcome to the Mountain Man Medical TH-cam channel! In today's episode, we delve into the crucial topic of trauma kits specifically designed for arborists and lumberjacks. Working in such hazardous environments, where the risk of severe injuries is high, demands the right kind of medical gear. This video is not just about first aid; it's about life-saving equipment that can handle catastrophic wounds like those inflicted by chainsaws high up in trees.
We discuss the inadequacies of common market kits for arborists and emphasize the need for kits that prioritize severe bleeding control. You'll learn about the essential items your trauma kit should contain, the importance of having two types of kits (a larger one for your truck and a smaller, belt-mounted one for immediate access), and how to ensure these kits are equipped for one-handed operation - a crucial feature in emergency scenarios.
We take you through the contents of an ideal belt-mounted kit, including quick-access items like Band-Aids and more specialized equipment like a SWAT-T tourniquet, hemostatic agents, and thermal blankets to prevent hypothermia after blood loss. Plus, we showcase a comprehensive 'Wind River' kit for your truck, packed with double bleeding control items, over-the-counter medications, tweezers, and more to ensure you're fully prepared for any emergency on the job.
Stay safe and ready for whatever challenges your work throws at you. If you're an arborist or lumberjack, this is a must-watch video to ensure you have the right gear to protect yourself and your colleagues. Thanks for joining us, and don't forget to subscribe for more lifesaving tips and gear reviews. Catch you in the next one!

Don't forget to add some Benadryl in case of stings and swarming too.

Good call, and an Epi Pen in case of allergies, when applicable.

I work as an Arborist, and other work at height specialties. Keep a very good trauma kit with me in my pack, but find it hard to carry one in the trees or on my other climbing harnesses. Have a small kit in a Molle pouch, but the pouch is a bit bulky to wear on my harness or tree saddle. Looking for a better pouch, one that seals good, to keep saw dust and other debris out, but is easy to access with either hand.

So would it be possible for you to do a dirt bike first aid kit if at all possible i only ask because awhile back i was riding my dirt bike down a trail and only after i was half way down the trail i seen a sign that said no paintball no hunting and no dirt bikes but i was already half way down this trail so i said fxck it and kept going then out of no where i seen a couple walking there dog so i kindly pulled over so they could walk by and so i did not scare there dog and the couple thanked me and told me there was a cliff right around the blind corner of the trail but there was no signs that warned about it so if that couple had not been walking that trail i probably would have drove off of a cliff and tgat part of the mountain only had trails at the top of the mountain and not the bottom so no one would have known that i drove off of a cliff and needed help and there is no cell phone signal there so wgat things would you recommend im looking at a flare gun and some sam splints but im not sure what else to get any help is appreciated

Thanks for the Story! Yes, all good options for taking care of yourself. The best thing you could do on top of being prepared with the right gear, is having a buddy to go with you. It's always better to have help in a bad situation.
