    The whole concert was absolutely fantastic! Well worth a look. He was the first white artist to top the black charts in the US. He had an amazing backing band, who stayed with him, throughout his career. He even paid them wages when they weren't touring! He wrote some incredible music and had an amazing voice. He was one of the biggest stars of the 90s. Right up there alongside Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince! He had many great albums but for me, his second solo album was his greatest. It was critically acclaimed too, winning numerous awards. It's an all-time classic. It's called 'Listen Without Prejudice, vol 1'. Virtually every song is a masterpiece, so it's hard to choose a favourite. I'd recommend listening to the entire album. Either offline, or song by song in channel. :)

      Correct except he was Greek

    • @Codex7777
      @Codex7777 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He wasn't Greek, lol. He was British. His father was originally from Cyprus but had emigrated to Britain at a young age and had British nationality. His mother was British. George was born and raised British. English was his native tongue. He wrote and sang in English. He was proud to be British...

    • @Darrell7777
      @Darrell7777 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ScratchArkkitehti Even if he was born in Greece (which he wasn't) and even if he was 100% of Greek ancestry (he wasn't), that would not disqualify him from being "white" lol. Greece is a country (not a race) and is located in Europe (where white people originate from). To say "he isn't white he is Greek" is like saying "he isn't Asian he is Chinese" or "he isn't black he is Nigerian". People often conflate nationality, ethnicity and culture with race. Georges was racially white/caucasian, ethnically mixed (English and Greek) and his nationality was British. Hope that helps.

    Hi Devon, In these times of worldwide terror, We must remember to just live our lives. Take a breath and live every day to the fullest As we should always! Just to show you how I find peace, I listen to my head and heart. I've heard George Michael in my head all day. The song I hear is " praying for time ", boy if that's what I needed to hear. This is how & what George means to me! I will hear his voice in my head so many times, no matter what mood I'm in. I believe that was his gift, to all of us. Devon, listen to this song. It's really what we all need to hear right now. I hope to all who will listen that they might find that peace as well. God bless, stay well & remember George.

    Please start getting into George Michael!! He was the first artist from the 80's who I started getting into ( I'm not from the 80's 😂😂) but he wasn't just pop music. Yes he did a lot of it but he was also an incredible ballad Singer. If u want to look at more live performances from him I would recommend 'a different corner' at the symphonica tour or maybe if u want to get a sense of how incredible his vocals really were check out gom singing somebody to love ( yes the queen song) at the Freddie mercury tribute concert in 1991. If u want to get a sense of who George Michael was and how he grew and stuff maybe check out his suff from wham! ( you will definitely know some of those songs) and then make ur way along his career ( faith, listen without prejudice, older, patience ect...... Their his albums BTW) I would also recommend learning more about his life maybe watch a documentry or something beacsue their was so much more to him than the teenager heart throb that he was with wham! And faith ( the album)
    Thanks for the reaction, plz start reacting to George Michael I think you'd love him ❤

      My God, I think I'm listening to myself. There's so much to George Micheal. He always seemed to hit home. He loved his fans. And never wanted to disappoint and he never did! This may sound strange(or maybe not) but today he gets me through life. The insanity of our country is off the charts. My God, George's head would blow off. You should know exactly why I say this. When it's too much for me, I get relief from George. He reminds me of the good in people, and this too we will survive! His love, and joy, and even pain, is what we all experience, one time or another. It's like he reaches out and says I've been here, & I'll get you through. Do you feel like you want the whole world to know what a gift this man is! Through all his music, only good comes from it. I do wish the reactions would go much more into the depth of his career, and the man he was and still is. People who just now hearing some of his music, have no idea what they've stumbled on to. There's so much you want everyone to know about George. They only know of a couple of hits, and most are pretty early. It's so neat to know him at 19 on Top of the Pops through Symphonica. Interviews, recording sessions concerts, and how he treated other people, on and on and on. What a remarkable person, & talent. Well, enough! Help me to spread the news, so others can experience George Michael and all he does for everyone that knew him, personally and through his music, plus more. Join me in saying, Thank You, George, for all you've given us, You are loved and never will be forgotten!

    George Michael was and is one of the best. He touched our hearts & spirits, with his music. I suggest, for now, listen to FLAWLESS, AN EASIER AFAIR They will get your toes & or your body rocking. Actually, there's also a studio vs live on UTUB. This will really show you his voice. Live performances as good as, or better because you also see what kind of performer he was. He always brought his audience with him. I do hope you do more reactions of George he never disappoints! NEVER! ENJOY!

    To me this is one of his most poignant songs, he was coming out to his fans in this: give for what you take lyric, someone I forgot to be- gonna get me some happy lyric, clothes don't make the man- when you shake your ass lyric. Which fits with the video intro of freedom one, running into faith and burning the jacket from faith. I knew it was a come out the moment I heard it the first time. Lastly he asks his fans, I won't let you down, please don't give me up you have to have faith in the sound it's the one good thing that I got. Oh George,bless you. Glad you found yourself some happy.

  • @rosamiller8687
    @rosamiller8687 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This is an original by George Michael. He basically was telling Sony to F off via this song he wrote. If you listen to the lyrics closely you will hear his message to Sony and how he didn't want to be portrayed as a sex symbol and he was ready to give up the image he had in the mid-80s. Concert for Hope is great but this was cut up in so many ways. Chunks of the song were interrupted and went forward fast into another part of the song. I'm not sure what happened with the recording that you watched but it wasn't the complete song. Many interruptions throughout. Get on Vevo and watch the actual Freedom 90 video by George. Many people have sampled a part of this song and so that may be why it sounds familiar.

    So if you like the mic stand singers you do need to really be thoroughly checking out George's live performances. He did a phenomenal MTV Unplugged that was just him and his band,. George was all about his voice, but he was also great on stage.. But his voice is what people really remember about him.

    Oh you have to please check out George Michael!! He's another legend that left us far too soon. You named the greats that made the best real music. MJ, Prince, Freddie Mercury they left us the most amazing legacies. George Michael was originally a part of a duo named WHAM. His solo music career and personal life took on a wild journey . I don't know if you know the songs Faith, Father Figure, Last Christmas, I Want Your Sex and his more recent ones of Praying For Time, White Light omg I'm sorry for listing so many songs and I could more but won't do that to you. I'm just super nostalgic today.

  • @LeeC926
    @LeeC926 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    George Michael wrote this song basically because he was tired of being marketed and promoted with an oppressive restrictive record contract he had with Sony Records - this is about him wanting his freedom to be the artist that he is and to express his art/music the way he wanted to; he wound up suing Sony. This is not about his coming out as someone else said - He wrote most of his own music - lyrices/instrumentation, played most the instruments when recording. Maybe look him up. This was a concert to benefit AIDS back when there was still no meds or cure.
