Not good and could be bettor and yes finally someone said it. Cant sit down to play its horrible. Thanks for the review. Arcade 1 up is sending me a new bezel and monitor to replace this OEM one. Just waiting on it. Hopefully its a bettor quality
Hey, the new monitor they send you might actually be better because I swear with my cab the screen looks fine from standing or sitting on a stool position. It is the stock monitor, too. What is going on here?
Hey, Thanks So much for this video, I knew i would always pick this up eventually especially since I sold my OG Golden tee. now that they have dropped it from the Original 799 to 699 or down 100 US i think its ok and I ended up picking it up just now after your video!
maybe its just me, but for $700 I'm expecting something thats better than "playable". Sounds like a nice way of saying "its not good". Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement of the monitor issue.
Agreed 100%! Even standing up the screen is too dark and the ghosting takes away from the experience. I don't understand why they would make a beautiful cab and go cheap on the screen.
Michael B., You actually get it when it comes to the monitor. For those of us who love crafting a home arcade, this kind of monitor can be an eyesore. When I first started building my home Arcade, I was going to incorporate a section of Arcade1up countercades to add a bit of variety to the room. But ugg, those crappy monitors (please note I've only ever purchased the vertical screen countercades)! When I'd sit directly in front of them, no problem, but as soon as I'd step away, and view everything from a normal distance, on one side I'd have a great experience walking into the arcade with my regular sized cabinets, but turn my head towards the countercade section and wonder, who would ever walk up to those horrible looking machines. I remember going to arcades back in the day and they'd have a game I really loved, but if the monitor, or control area had issues, I'd skip it. Yeah, just don't want that in my home arcade, personally. I agree, for those who might be picking up this new Golden Tee as their only cabinet, or ones who aren't concerned about an arcade room esthetic, it could work perfectly for them as long as the games themselves play well. I'm very down about this Arcade1up release as it was one I really wanted. Luckily reviewers like yourself could give me the real skinny. I'm skipping out on this new Golden Tee, sending Arcade1up another message that this kind of quality is unacceptable, whether at $699, or at $99. vgv
Thanks for making this video Mike. I've been going back and forth on picking up this cab. Nice to see a video that really focused on the screen as it's my main concern....Iam leaning more on just keeping my original I think
I may just wait to see what iircade comes out with. I think I would be more interested in iircades new cab then invest in another 1up with screen and audio problems.
I play sitting on a stool. So this is a no go. Thanks for everybody who rushed out and preordered this cab and beta testing it for us. I also have an iircade, and that screen is done right. Build quality is on a different level.
Hey Mike, good video, but I think a lot of the wash out is happening because you have a window directly behind you. That will affect any monitor for side viewing or distance viewing. A real test would be in a game room where the light is not super bright. Also if it had some color controls, you might be able to dial it in better. But again, even real arcades are hard to view at angles....
I really like this cab. I think from looking straight on is fine. I think I agree with you MichaelB it just blown out of proportion. There's going to be some people that don't like the screen and some people will be ok with it.
Not only is it bad but it sets a bad precedent for future releases. The screen is the most important part of an arcade machine , especially if you market the new arcade as a upgrade to previous versions. It’s very simple, they cut corners to make some extra margins “hoping” it wouldn’t be noticed
If the screen were decent, I would consider buying this cabinet. Surely in testing Arcade1up was aware of these issues but pressed ahead with that particular model of screen - that is too bad. They should have used a better screen, or just made the cab as a regular 3/4 scale with a decent screen.
We play standing up and it is playable. I’m a little over 6’4” so I look down at an angle on it. It’s also in a darker corner so light doesn’t wash the screen out much but the colors are not as bright. And yes the iircade is more vibrant.
Nice video, Mike. I'm not getting Golden Tee or the new NBA Jam but it has nothing to do with the screen. Ultimately, I think the screen is flawed but mostly fine. But given as it seems likely these will be the same screens as used in the more expensive pro editions that's pretty disappointing.
I'm so glad you got the chance to do an honest review. I play mine sitting on a stool, and I'm glad you took the time to try to sit on a stool and play. It totally changes the screen. The GT3D is my favorite cabinet and the most played by others. It's also my most disappointing.
Hi Mike, I believe you when you say the monitor looks really bad when playing the cab sitting on a stool but why then does it look absolutely fine when I play mine sitting down on a stool?? Strange. For real tho, it only looks washed out when I bend down it front of the cab and make myself like 3 feet tall. Do they all have the exact same screen? Did I get lucky? I have a buddy who also has the cab and for him also the screen looks fine when he plays sitting down on a 1up stool.
Hey Michael- new subscriber here. Would you mind sharing what tape lights you are using on your walls? I’ve tried a few different types but haven’t seen any with that effect. Looks very Star Wars-ish, which I love.
Well, now we know why they didn't bundle a stool with this one. Definitely more concerned with "Shaq Attack" than Golden Tee - especially for players on the far left and right. Thanks for another great video, MichaelB.
I love your channel and I love you, but the screen is absolutely terrible. I sold my original Golden Tee one week before I got this one and I want my original back. Arcade one up gave us no indication that they were going to skimp on the Golden Tee machine because everything should’ve been better than the original. I sold my original Golden Tee for $400 and I put it towards the $700 machine and it was a waste of money and I can’t get my original back. Don’t tell me it’s not that bad because it is that bad. My 10-year-old son has to stand on a milk crate in order to see any part of the screen and not even that it’s embarrassing to my friends that I used to play Golden Tee with talking about why are the trees purple? If we don’t recognize this problem and call arcade one up out then it’s going to keep happening so stop being nice and realize this is for real and it’s nasty what they did to us consumers
With that roller controller they should make 720. Loved the arcade port. 720 failed miserably on every home console. This type of game requires a roller ball. It's just not the same without it.
Really appreciate the comparison of this game. One question: Why does the machine have "3d" in it's title? Is there a 3D display? Or is one of the games using 3D modeling, as compared to the original games? Ok, so that's two questions. LOL ;)
Great video Mike🔥🔥🔥…but at this point & as far along as they have come..& now they’re making XL & Pro cabs….should we really be debating whether to buy a cabinet that has a crappy monitor at all❓❓…& trying to justify “oh it’s not that bad” (they cost a lot of money💰..the monitor should be pristine & perfect period💯‼️)…& I did want this one to upgrade my old one..but unless somebody comes out with a 19 inch plug-in-play monitor that’s better for this that will work with Arcade1ups PCB..I might be out on this one👊🏻✌🏻‼️
It doesn't need to be saw across the room no ,does the key board and ball come off so you can stand back ten feet no ,and where else are you going to play from the kitchen with Mr Fantastics arms ? people silly as hell.
Who plays an arcade game from the far sides or kneeling down or from 10 ft away....straight up nerds...lol. I have a ton of Arcade1up cabinets and the technical nerdy stuff people complain about is hilarious. You play it standing in front of it, period!
Ya the screen is crap. BUT! It could have helped if it was angled alot better in order to allow for normal viewing angles. This thing just falls far below any screen you could get you hands on .. from mobile, or Home Theater, PC Monitors, tablets.. nothing is this bad looking.
#ItsPlayable !! but yes, the angle of the golden tee probably makes this the worst offender. NBA Jam and that background color scheme is definitely not as bad as golden tee
Los pimientos fantasmas están calientes y agregan mucha especia a cualquier receta🔥🌶💋, pero es una opción para las pantallas fantasma agregadas a un arcade 1Up🐴💩
It's a great looking cab but the monitor is its weak point. A1U should use these monitors on future 3/4 cabs & procure a better monitor for XL/Pro cabs.
Hi Everyone, Thank you for watching! Let me know if you have a Golden Tee 3D from Arcade1Up and what you think of the screen
My Screen is fine sitting or standing and I'm 6'2. I wonder if it's screen to screen. I'm good.
Hey, Thanks So much for this video, I knew i would always pick this up eventually especially since I sold my OG Golden tee. now that they have dropped it from the Original 799 to 699 or down 100 US i think its ok and I ended up picking it up just now after your video!

You swayed me Twice now! I bought the Gold Edition and now I repurchased this Golden Tee 3-D after buying it the first time!
It was a pleasure having you over as always glad to help out
Thanks again Mike!
FYI Ghosting refers to motion blur on lower quality monitors, not screen fading or washed out image. They're two separate issues.
My mistake, i always called it ghosting but yeah its wash out that is the term is was looking for
So glad you did the iiRcade comparison. 🦊👊🏼
Any idea where to get replacement parts?
Michael B.,

Hey, I wouldn't have any problem with the monitor if the cab cost $250.
Did you try out the Ridge Racer cab while you were there? How was it?
1:56 to quote Borat….”very nice”.
Thanks for making this video Mike. I've been going back and forth on picking up this cab. Nice to see a video that really focused on the screen as it's my main concern....Iam leaning more on just keeping my original I think
How about tilting the monitor?
I may just wait to see what iircade comes out with. I think I would be more interested in iircades new cab then invest in another 1up with screen and audio problems.
Can you add additional games into the system
I play sitting on a stool. So this is a no go. Thanks for everybody who rushed out and preordered this cab and beta testing it for us.
I also have an iircade, and that screen is done right. Build quality is on a different level.
Thanks for the review Michael! Trust your opinion more than most.
Thanks buddy! I am going to be honest i was hoping that it was being blown out of proportion, i really do want to get an xl cab at some point
I put a 720p 24" monitor in that ive been holding into for years. Took a few parts to get it too work but its a huge upgrade and im happy with it all.
Bummer, this is one I was tempted to get even though I told myself I wasn't buying anymore.
What are those LED called behind you? Those are pretty cool!
graphics already peeling on the control deck sides on mine. and they don't even get touched!!!
This is kool to see a whole new lane for video game consoles with arcade machines like legends arcade 1 up and ircade
Hey Mike, good video, but I think a lot of the wash out is happening because you have a window directly behind you. That will affect any monitor for side viewing or distance viewing. That’s a great point Stephen. I will have to go back and test again and move the cabinet away from the window.
I really like this cab. I think from looking straight on is fine. I think I agree with you MichaelB it just blown out of proportion. There's going to be some people that don't like the screen and some people will be ok with it.
Excellent video man. Appreciate the level of detail you out into the video.
Not only is it bad but it sets a bad precedent for future releases. The screen is the most important part of an arcade machine , especially if you market the new arcade as a upgrade to previous versions. It’s very simple, they cut corners to make some extra margins “hoping” it wouldn’t be noticed
If the screens suck, they won't get my money. IMO, there are already too many cabs to get that I'm just waiting for the price to drop.
How does it compare to the original Arcade1up Golden Tee because I was thinking about upgrading but I’m worried it may be a downgrade
If the screen were decent, I would consider buying this cabinet. Surely in testing Arcade1up was aware of these issues but pressed ahead with that particular model of screen - that is too bad. They should have used a better screen, or just made the cab as a regular 3/4 scale with a decent screen.

I’ve got one, no issues and the screen is fine. Not one guest has brought up any issues with it

Take a drink everytime you hear cabinet
Take a drink everytime you hear monitor
there was one at my work and i thought it was amazing but not for the price today. it used to only be like 350
Hey Michael- new subscriber here.
Not getting these wave 1 XL cabs is probably the best option
Why would they go cheap on the monitor on a "premium" build?! What a joke. Thanks for the heads up.
I love your channel and I love you, but the screen is absolutely terrible. I sold my original Golden Tee one week before I got this one and I want my original back. That is the name of the Marquee Title included on the cabinet. GOLDEN TEE 3D ('95)
@@FloydWarren13 Ah, ok. Thanks.
I never play my cabinet from any other position then straight in front of it. It would probably be weird to do anything but that, LOL.
Haha oh Carl you know i meant dead center
You don’t ever have a friend over and watch them play their turn? This is a social game!
Ghosting on a Arcade1up product like this is very bad. I won't buy due to this review. Thank you!
Nice hat👍🏿
Thanks buddy!
It doesn't need to be saw across the room no ,does the key board and ball come off so you can stand back ten feet no ,and where else are you going to play from the kitchen with Mr Fantastics arms ? people silly as hell.
Hey try playing it in someone's "accessibility" shoes, not very cool for others that can't stand directly in front of the machine?
Who plays an arcade game from the far sides or kneeling down or from 10 ft away....straight up nerds...lol. I have a ton of Arcade1up cabinets and the technical nerdy stuff people complain about is hilarious. You play it standing in front of it, period!
me encantan los shills 💋😘😍 hacen el mejor conteni.do 🌹
los shills?
I just want to know who he F plays Golden Tee sitting down?!
i mean, who doesnt stand in front of a cab when playing, and hey, your size is not the machines fault dude
derk??
Ya the screen is crap. BUT! It could have helped if it was angled alot better in order to allow for normal viewing angles.
This thing just falls far below any screen you could get you hands on
.. from mobile, or Home Theater, PC Monitors, tablets.. nothing is this bad looking.
Does this mean little kids get a bad viewing experience?
I would say so unless they were on a really really high stool
I guess she’ll let you do the editing lol
It was very very touch and go
Who plays an arcade from a distance? It’s awesome if you actually play it
#ItsPlayable !! but yes, the angle of the golden tee probably makes this the worst offender. NBA Jam and that background color scheme is definitely not as bad as golden tee
“Cabinet” drinking game?
short answer yes. Longer answer, 1up has no idea what they are doing... NEVER PREORDER
The screen isn't great for display.
The controls are a huge uptick with the extra room.
The cab looks great off.
Los pimientos fantasmas están calientes y agregan mucha especia a cualquier receta🔥🌶💋, pero es una opción para las pantallas fantasma agregadas a un arcade 1Up🐴💩
Thanks for the great info & I won't be kissin my Mother this Mothers day, she could have Covid because shes always riding those buses! lol 🤦♂
Sorry to hear that but you are welcome and thanks for watching the video
The new NBA Jam I don't like the cab.
It's a great looking cab but the monitor is its weak point. A1U should use these monitors on future 3/4 cabs & procure a better monitor for XL/Pro cabs.
hell no they should NOT use these monitors on 3/4 cabs. it would be a downgrade. i'm not buying any cab with that monitor.
I love it!
Love your TH-cam Name!
monitor blows
im out its trash ..its a waste
Sure looks to me like there’s no room to really drive the ball.
derker??
